The town lives in the shadow of Santa Claus Village but is worth sightseeing for itself. The modern architecture, the Arcticum museum, good infrastructure, nice surroundings - there is much to see and do for a couple of days.

A nice town at the arctic circle, museums, sporting facilities, theatre, shopping malls, reastaurants, hotels. It has an airport connected with Helsinki, Dublin, Brusseles (and perhaps more).
There is a whole village dedicated to the Santa Claus theme.
There are buildings made from ice during the winter, some hotels and wedding-places among them.

Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit.
Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit. In winter the city is under a lot of snow but has always trucks to get the snow out of the road, small rocks on the pavement to prevent from falling.
Rovaniemi has a lot of green tracks and its is lovely to follow them along the river. Great places for children to play too.
For dinner time, I can recommend the MonteRosa restaurant in the city center. Great and friendly service from all the employees, excellent food and drinks. (I can recommend the salmon soup, the grilled salmon and the reindeer cooked two ways).
For lunch, I went to Cafe & Bar 21. It was busy from 12 to 15 (I guess very popular) but nonetheless very enjoyable. Combining the bar/coffee with Yuca (a mexican restaurant) is great because people can have different lunch if wished. The deserts are also excellent.
For the activities, everybody can found something that they like. For the french people you can found the Nordic Odyssey office to book activities with a french translator (even if the english explanation I had where really understanding). It can always be helpful for the people who can't speak english.
You can found supermarket everywhere and some of them are open until 22:00 which is great.

I loved it all..the taxis are quite expensive but the bus was great..I loved it that much I wanted to extend my stay. I will be back to chase the Aurora, unfortunately it didn’t so due to skies full of snow.

Santa from the city center was better than the one in SCV (at least for us). He was really communicative, giving us tips and tricks for aurora hunting. After we bought a picture we could take more with our own phone, made videos for our friends etc.
We love that there are different places where you can barbeque during the walking.
Lake from Artikum museum is a good place to see aurora. Loved the winter trails.
Souvenirs are cheaper in SCV than in the city center.

The centre of Rovaniemi is easy to get around and has plenty of shops and cafes, plus supermarkets if you're self-catering. It is a perfect snowy destination in winter. We visited the Snow Hotel (you need to dress up warmly as its pretty cold, but a vodka in the Ice Bar helps!) and also Santa Village, which is probably best for families with small children
The Guest House is warm and tidy, you feel at home as soon as you enter in there, it does not look like a hotel because of the familiar enviorment all around. The location is perfect to visit Rovaniemi. The city center is 3 min walk from the structure and you have the shopping center and the restaurants all around. Bus stop to Santa Claus Village and to the airport is also very close to the Guesthouse.. There is a Spa with Sauna and Swimmingpool just behind the building..I would definately stay there again.
We were unlucky to get bad weather but with clear skies the view would have been exceptional. Property is right on the lake and too quiet. Amenities are basic but it has what is needed. Please note that if you are booking igloo, do check that you are comfortable with the washroom arrangements. The property is far away from town and a car is very much required.
This property is a experience, just wish we had better weather and luck with northern lights to enjoy it more.
Such an amazing property. Exceeded my expectations. Beautiful location and hosts were so friendly. Villa was very clean and had everything we needed. You will need a car, but there is on-site parking and it is easy to find. Only 30 mins from centre of Rovaniemi. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back. The view of the northern lights over the lake was a definite highlight. Thank you Kati and Petri for allowing us to stay in such a lovely place.
All was amazing !
The place is like a dream ! Very comfortable , clean , if you are looking for the real experience in Laponia , this is the correct place, Henry was very nice with us , Always he kept in contact with us , give us many advices for enjoy our travel , and support us a lot for can be this dream true ! Thank for everything Henry !
If one day we will back to Finland , we will select this place again ! One more time thanks
Had absolutely everything we needed. Comfortable and spacious compared to a hotel room. Even saw the Northern Lights from the terrace - though because of other buildings they had to be reasonably high. Think you could go down to water’s edge but as we arrived in the dark we were a bit reluctant to investigate in the dark. Would have loved to stay there longer.
gorgeous! the beds were comfortable and the food was plentiful and healthy and delicious. the reaper grounds are stunning and just what I imagined and hoped Finland and the Arctic circle would be. I’m so glad I paid a bit extra and didn’t stay in a cheaper hotel in the city! I could walk outside and see the Aurora at apukka which couldn’t happen in the city.
Great location, right behind the bus stop where you can take buses to Santa Claus Village, Santa Park and Rovaniemi airport. Hotel has 2 buildings are connected to each other by underground passage, quite unique. Rooms are spacious - had booked family room with bunk bed. Hotel is 2 mins walk to the main shopping street.
it is a good hotel for the city centre, well located (bus stops to santa and airport, shopping mall and street).
well organised, good breakfast and nice staff. nothing to complain. it is a good option, if you don't want to spend a fortune on accommodation in rovaniemi
Nice stay in this beautiful chalet not too far Rovaniemi.
Safe and quiet place, comfortable beds, functional kitchenette and friendly staff.
Lapland is a magic place, especially when the northern lights show up in the middle of the polar night.
Great hotel in the middle of Rovaniemi. Comfy beds and all helpful team. Parking free of charge. One of the best breakfast buffets we ever experienced. We have been staying here for the fourth time and will always gladly return.
Great location. Bus stop is in front of the hotel. Hotel is located neer the center of Rovaniemi by the river. Nice park for kida neer by. Room is nice and clean. Food is great. Nice sauna and pool. Free parking
Location, right by the ski slope, great walks and ski touing from the door, room size, views from restaraunt. Staff in the hotel and restaraunt were great. Roof viewing platform for Northern Lights.
This is the hotel with the most reasonable price we've found in Rovaniemi during high season. The breakfast is decent, with a small sauna which is really helpful after a day of activities.
i love everything about this hotel . its full of snow and so beautiful . i will never forget my moment in this hotel , and i also have sauna inside room
