The town lives in the shadow of Santa Claus Village but is worth sightseeing for itself. The modern architecture, the Arcticum museum, good infrastructure, nice surroundings - there is much to see and do for a couple of days.

A nice town at the arctic circle, museums, sporting facilities, theatre, shopping malls, reastaurants, hotels. It has an airport connected with Helsinki, Dublin, Brusseles (and perhaps more).
There is a whole village dedicated to the Santa Claus theme.
There are buildings made from ice during the winter, some hotels and wedding-places among them.

Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit.
Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit. In winter the city is under a lot of snow but has always trucks to get the snow out of the road, small rocks on the pavement to prevent from falling.
Rovaniemi has a lot of green tracks and its is lovely to follow them along the river. Great places for children to play too.
For dinner time, I can recommend the MonteRosa restaurant in the city center. Great and friendly service from all the employees, excellent food and drinks. (I can recommend the salmon soup, the grilled salmon and the reindeer cooked two ways).
For lunch, I went to Cafe & Bar 21. It was busy from 12 to 15 (I guess very popular) but nonetheless very enjoyable. Combining the bar/coffee with Yuca (a mexican restaurant) is great because people can have different lunch if wished. The deserts are also excellent.
For the activities, everybody can found something that they like. For the french people you can found the Nordic Odyssey office to book activities with a french translator (even if the english explanation I had where really understanding). It can always be helpful for the people who can't speak english.
You can found supermarket everywhere and some of them are open until 22:00 which is great.

I loved it all..the taxis are quite expensive but the bus was great..I loved it that much I wanted to extend my stay. I will be back to chase the Aurora, unfortunately it didn’t so due to skies full of snow.

Santa from the city center was better than the one in SCV (at least for us). He was really communicative, giving us tips and tricks for aurora hunting. After we bought a picture we could take more with our own phone, made videos for our friends etc.
We love that there are different places where you can barbeque during the walking.
Lake from Artikum museum is a good place to see aurora. Loved the winter trails.
Souvenirs are cheaper in SCV than in the city center.

The centre of Rovaniemi is easy to get around and has plenty of shops and cafes, plus supermarkets if you're self-catering. It is a perfect snowy destination in winter. We visited the Snow Hotel (you need to dress up warmly as its pretty cold, but a vodka in the Ice Bar helps!) and also Santa Village, which is probably best for families with small children
The hotel in near the main street of Rovaniemi. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the restaurants and shops. The family room is not big. The toilet is small, with a small washing basin. The kitchen is large with a sofa and table. You can make food. The breakfast is simple and nice. There is a large place between the main house and the villas. Easy for parking cars. Overall, the hotel is nice for the price. Because the hotels in the downtown are more expensive, this hotel is a good choice to stay to save some money.
The property is hard to find. we had problem with water flooding and didn't drain out after shower. we cannot continue shower more than 1 minute and floor flooded. Sauna is not working. we email the property they never reply or apologize for the inconvenience. wifi not working. mattresses not comfortable. cleaning fee is included in the booking yet we have to take out garbage when we check out. I stayed at airbnb many times even never asked to take garbage out. what's the point paying for the cleaning?
the location is great and they had me in a river view room which was amazing. the buses out front to airport and Santa village are handy, and everything in town is accessible. I’ve stayed in Rovaniemi 6 times now and this was the first in this hotel. it was a bit confusing having to go underground through a tunnel to get to the other building, and instructions on how to access my room from that second building would of been handy to know at check in!
If I had to use one word to summarize our stay, it would be: Exceptional! The design of the igloo/apartment was amazing. The views from the room were lovely, and the private hot tub + sauna were wonderful. They served the best breakfast in Lapland and we also enjoyed an amazing dinner at their restaurant. The staff was courteous, friendly, and did everything to make our stay amazing. If you have plans to visit Rovaniemi, you MUST stay here!
The hotel location is very convenient as it is right next to the Santa Claus village so it’s a very short walkable distance to all the attractions in the village. I liked the cabin houses, they are cute and give off a very Christmasy vibe. I liked the personal sauna inside the cabin. The “Three Elves” Restaurant was good for dinner. I tried the vegan burger there and it was delicious.
A great location in the centre of town with a park for kids outside. Sledding and an ice rink in the park! It was a perfect place to stay.
Clean and warm. Warm being very important in December in Finland!
Lots of space in the apartment and a great host. We could not have asked for anything more from Joel. We (family of 4 with 2 kids aged 4 & 8) recommend very highly.
If you want to be in the heart of Rovaniemi, this building is exactly there. Close to the shops, restaurants, tourist agencies, etc when it’s cold that is important… no breakfast at the hotel itself but hostel Koti just across the street offers a basic but excellent price/quality breakfast that you can book via the hotel.
Location of the hotel is in the downtown of Rovaniemi. Lots of restaurants are around the hotel, so food is not a problem during stay. Also, there is a supermarket just across the road. It is a building with large LEDs on the wall, go inside and down by an elevator, you can buy snacks, fruit, drinks, and sledge there.
We arrived Rovaniemi from Helsinki by train and went to the hotel by taxi. It really has a good location. I think we can walk there if there is no snow. There are many shops, malls and restaurants nearby. Everything is convenient. It also provided free sauna and some activity introductions at reception.
This hotel was absolutely amazing. Beds were comfortable although small, views were stunning and breakfast was delicious. The sauna experience is a must try. Communication with hotel reception staff was a breeze through WhatsApp, and all our needs were met happily.
In a very central location not far from the bridge. We had lots of parking places and the room was really easy to access by all the instructions we got from the host. Really nice place to stay for a lower price than the hotels and with all the equipment you need
It was just okay, nothing special at all. Not a 4 star hotel for sure, but not even 3. It is a 2,5 star hotel. Not modern at all. The food is just okay. Nothing special either. For this money it is just expensive.
The location was perfect to explore Rovaniemi and its sorroudings and the hotel was nice, clean and the food fine - we especially liked the breakfast served. We also appreciated that the hotel had a sauna.
Location, right by the ski slope, great walks and ski touing from the door, room size, views from restaraunt. Staff in the hotel and restaraunt were great. Roof viewing platform for Northern Lights.
Breakfast was good. Hotel is in the city center and just opposite to 24 hour super market and multiple other restaurants. Staffs are very helpful and pleasant. Overall, good stay in Rovaniemi.
