The original capital of Finland, Turku is the country’s oldest city that features a bustling harbour, an array of museums and restaurants, and is renowned for being the cradle of Finnish culture.
During the summer Turku’s waterfronts come alive with boat bars and cafés, along with popular festivals such as Ruisrock Festival and Turku Music Festival, which are held in July and August respectively.
The city offers a number of entertainment options and landmarks such as the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art, Turku Cathedral and the medieval Turku Castle, which overlooks the harbour.
Tallink Silja Terminal and Viking Line Terminal offer regular ferry services to destinations such as Stockholm, Åland Islands and Moomin World Theme Park, located on the island of Kailo.

We didn't get to see much of Turku, unfortunately.
We didn't get to see much of Turku, unfortunately. We stayed there as it was convenient for Naantali. However, there were a number of museums and galleries etc that I would have liked to have seen.

It is a good experience from spring until autumn.
It is a good experience from spring until autumn. In between everything is gloomer with less opportunities. At any time of year, you should not expect that most people will meet your eyes nor smile. Nature is nice and during the summer there are possibilities visiting archipelago. If you are in the downtown, don't forget to visit over 100 year old Turku market hall, where you can have a great lunch and feel the local vibe. There are also plenty of unique nature walks around the sea or forests close b

Nice places to visit: Turku Castle, Cathedral.
Nice places to visit: Turku Castle, Cathedral. The city is beautiful and very clean.
Ate a couple of times at Timbuktu. Very nice African restaurant.
Public transport is cheap, on-time and convenient. It is 3 euros for two hours on any bus line.
The city doesn't sleep in summer time. Firsthand experience!

Just a lovely city with plenty of attractions to visit, naval history, medieval castle, lovely parks, plenty of choice regarding eating out (recommend Panimoravintola Koulu; Lone Star (burgers, fries)), easy to get around by walking, bike and/or scooter. Great base for exploring the islands of the Turku Archipelago. Must see attractions include Luostarimaki open air history quarter, walking or running along the Aura river, Turku medieval castle at Linnanpuisto park, Ispoinen beach and Sauna; various historical sailing ships along the Aura.

I went to Turku for Knotfest, so I didn't have enough time to see all the views. But, since I've been to Turku many times, I can tell you that it is an excellent place to visit with many sights to see, and not overly touristy. I recommend seeing Turun Linna (Turku castle), the River Aura, the old wooden neighborhoods, and the Turku cathedral.
If you are traveling on a budget, the public transport system works well, unless you use it after midnight when music festivals have just finished, such as Knotfest. In that case, be prepared to get ditched by bus drivers. For cheap food, you can download the ResQ app to buy cheap lunches from restaurants and help reduce food waste in the process. Historic city, many things to see.
Historic city, many things to see. A mixture of influences and styles gives the village its character.
Turku has a charming, homly athmosphere, carefree and safe, where time seems to move more slowly
We stayed at roost humalistunkatu, perfectly clean, spacious, well located apartment, and reliable booking (avoid cozy apartment near cathedral at Hämeenkatu 16 if you dont like your written reservation to get cancelled 10 min before arriving late at night without prior notice, just because somebody paid more).
Quiet, chic elegance with the best quality linens I have had lately. Comfy beds and the most wonderful pillows. Super location, easy to drive straight down to catch the ferry in 5 minutes. Really great breakfast buffet—panna cotta for breakfast with berries! Extremely charming and helpful front desk staff. And, the best doggie treat bag ever! A roll of poop bags, chewy sticks and these other sticks that my dogs devoured. And something for me, too! Never heard of this hotel chain—Sokos—but they are doing everything right!
The hotel exceeded my expectations, the room was comfortable, big, clean and modern.
The breakfast was amazing, there were a lot of different things to choose and everything was top quality.
Also the restaurant was good, the ambience was nice and the meals were a little bit small but overall good.
The staff was very available and kind. We'll surely come back to this Hotel for our next business trip to Turku!
The unique experience of staying in a cabin on a boat on the river in Turku was great.
The location is only a few km from the center and only a 10 minute walk to the main ferry terminal building.
Located right next to the hotel is the famous historic Turku castle landmark, well worth a visit.
The staff at the SS Bore were helpful.
It is small, clean, safe, comfortable, typically Nordic. Breakfasts are excellent. Staff is helpful. It is two blocks from the central plaza, two blocks from the river and boutique restaurants and shops. The museums, church, university and other sights are just across the river. This hotel is wonderful.
All is as described in BC flat presentation. Good location 10 min from the market place by foot. Quiet, good matress. New building, all is working. Excellent ie. for a couple who seek for a week stay. October day price was half of Turku hotels.
Absolutely stunning hotel with a unique history. The room was excellent with double doors opening onto a faux balcony and a very large bathroom. The beds were comfortable compared to the majority that we slept on during our trip across Finland.
Parking hall was right next to the apartment. The accommodation is also in close proximity to the harbour and 10 min car drive to the city centre. Turku Castle and Marine museum are nearby as well.
Clear apartment near the centre of Turku. Silent location, free parking. Green area around the apartment secures fresh ad clean air. It was enjoyable experience to stay here.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. The hotel is attached to a shopping center for easy shopping and is within walking distance of restaurants and the city center.
