Very good hotel in great location i.e. in walking distance to the old city center. Very convenient paid parking right in front of the hotel. Super nice, multilingual reception staff. Clean. Good Wifi. Great shower. Good breakfast. Good restaurant. Reasonable prices. I'll definitely stay here again.
Located on one of Cartagena’s main streets, Sercotel Alfonso XIII is 1640 feet from the Old Town. It offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi.

A brilliant hotel. The place, while a bit out of town, which was no problem as we have a car, which was the reason we chose the hotel- due to the good parking.
This is an exceptionally good hotel. The hotel is spotlessly clean, as was the room, the staff are all wonderful.
The bed & pillows were great too, something lacking in many hotels.
If I am back in Cartagena, this will be where I stay.

Cartagena is a beautiful city with stunning architecture, a lovely waterfront, charming squares surrounded by restaurants, and wonderful Roman ruins to see. We would definitely return for a longer stay, as we were only there one night.

Cartagena is a beautiful, small city- not crowded like the other cities we visited. Beautiful architecture along with Roman ruins, especially the amphitheater. Didn’t get to fully explore it, because I was sick one day. Worth a repeat visit.

If you are interested in history there is lots to see in this area, The Roman Ampitheatre, The Underwater Archaeology museum, Drive out from Cartegena on the minor roads in to the hills to discover lots of industrial archaeology. Take a boat trip round the harbour. Discover Aledo a hilltop town. Eating out can be cheap if you eat the menu de dia or a feast if you order off the main menus.

I spent 16 nights in Cartagena because I ran out of money during my backpacking trip in Europe and this was one of the cheapest places to stay in Spain.
Cartagena is a naval port town dotted with ancient ruins, medieval batteries, and beautiful mediterranean foliage. You can spend your time relaxing at la playa, hiking in the national park, having beers at hole-in-the-wall bars, and people-watching with your tostada de tomate in the late morning. The people are friendly and the street cats are adorable. It’s very walkable but there is an extensive bus service as well. It’s maybe not the most amazing coastal spot in Spain but if you’re broke, Cartagena is a lovely town to spend your time in.
Favourite hike: Mt Roldán
Favourite breakfast/coffee spot: Cafés Céldran
Favourite activities: the tourist boat (only 6€!), the Roman Theatre, and the Municipal Archaeological Museum

Cartagena is a lovely city.
Cartagena is a lovely city. Loads of things to see, museums, Roman ruins and more modern sights like the Civil War air raid shelter near to the castle.
The centre of the city is lovely with lots of places to eat and drink at not very expensive prices. The tapas choice is brilliant and offered by every restaurant. It's easy to walk around the town and you don't need a car. The open top Tourist bus is a good way to see the city, so well worth the hour round trip.
We'd definitely make another visit.

Great little city for a two/three night stay (maximum).
Great little city for a two/three night stay (maximum). Lots of history in the Roman teatro, the castle and the naval museums. Nice traffic free city centre with plenty of choice of restaurants and bars, Friendly and safe.
Very modern and innovative hostel catering for everyone. Various zones for cooking, relaxing, exercising, laundry. Good wi-fi signal in our room. The old city walls were right outside our window which gives a great sense of history. All the Roman exhibitions and ruins are within a few minutes walk and really cheap entry prices. Even better if you get voucher for 4 + sites, available at all the exhibitions. There are a lot of steps and steep slopes in Cartagena which you cannot avoid so be aware if you have mobility issues.
We did not have breakfast as we were going to Cartagena then moving on towards Barcelona.. We stayed here as it was the closest to Cartagena which does not have suitable hotels. We would have liked the restaurant open but we were told it only opened in the week. The staff were very friendly we found a cafe /bar for a drink nearby and we were given lots of ice quickly when requested from the staff at our hotel.
What was there not to like, everything was as you would expect, cannot find a fault, would recommend this hotel to anyone. From the location to the friendly staff, as I said everything was perfect. We spent our 49th wedding anniversary there, had such a great time, we decided to go again for our 50th, and we were not disappointed.
Thank you again.

It is a modest property but one that is spot-on with my expectations. A remarkable rate is what drew me to it - and it proved to be a property that doesn't over-promise. It has comfortable rooms with an efficient staff. A good breakfast and a convenient location to the parking garage for our car. They have rather less noise that the Alfonso III Hotel they also own.
The hotel was refurbished recently so looks very nice and clean; close to the old city center; for parking, we recommend the public parking ( the blue one) as during the night you do not need to pay and that is between 8pm till 9am next day. during the day the parking is only 0.5 euro per hour. cheaper compare to the hotel parking;
English breakfast with toast and eggs and one time even beans. There are many birds to watch. A wonderful place to chill out. What a luxury to have a swimming-pool in this heat. And a lot of beautiful art to discover in the house and outside. I really recommend this lovely place with these friendly hosts Viv & Dan
Excellent location for walking to the historic center, restaurants, and sites. Convenient hotel parking. Free coffee all day was a plus! Bed was very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good a/c. Tea kettle and coffee mugs in room were an added bonus. Daily housekeeping was good.
Comfortable hotel, every member of staff we encountered was lovely and helpful. The breakfast was good, the hotel was clean and well maintained. The area maybe isn’t as nice as the centre of Cartagena, but it still felt safe and there were no issues.
Great staff ! ...... good wifi ..... nice balcony with view .... lovely breakfast and very cheap daily menu for hotel-guests ! ..... very clean room ... but unfortunately only one chair for 2 people so one sits on the bed watching TV :)
A short walk to everywhere we needed to get to,the staff especially Ruben were really helpful and friendly, every time we stay in Cartagena we stay at this lovely hotel, great views over the port if you get the right rooms
Localization in front of the beach is perfect, view is beautiful, the water in sea/bay could be colder:)
Very quiet place, not too many tourists - if you want to rest from tourist crowd this is the place for you:)
Super friendly and helpful staff at the reception. They provide support and guidance. Explained clearly the services available. It was a clean hotel and offered a decent room, the breakfast was good.
