A Splash of Color and History in the Heart of Catalonia
The colorful and charming gem that is Girona is on the banks of where the Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell rivers meet. Girona is protected by fortifications and features a remarkable medieval center along with several fine Romanesque and Gothic buildings.
The province houses the ancient Arab Baths, the Girona Cathedral, and the lovely Girona Art Museum. Due to its mountainous terrain, Girona is also a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts, and theater lovers can enjoy a performance at the Auditorium Jardins del Castell.
Girona has a lively nightlife and offers a wide variety of bars, restaurants and cafés serving anything from local Basque and Catalan delicacies to traditional tapas and an array of international cuisines.
Other popular landmarks to see are the 14th-century Sant Feliu, the historical fortifications, the 11th-century Monastery of San Daniel, and the characteristic Girona Bridge.
Girona Train station offers direct connections to bustling Barcelona and the picturesque town of Portbou. Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation options and deals in Girona and around Catalonia.
Fantastic place for a cycling holiday. So many other cyclists, cafes and bike shops make it feel like it was made for cyclists. Roads are buttery smooth and once you get out of town there is very little traffic. So many different scenic routes to choose from.

Second time staying here.
Second time staying here. The apartment had everything I needed (except bluetooth sound on tv)) and arrival / departure was hassle free. The arrival pack of the cleaning essentials is great for flyers and the street balcony was lovely to air the place (and dry cycking gear) and also watch old town activity. Will be back.

Getting around the Jewish quarter was easy to navigate using the river as guide . So many little alley ways all end up along the river and you see so many old historic buildings. Very quaint and peaceful, always felt safe.
The Jewish museum is a must do if you want to learn about the history of Girona. WILL COME BACK AGAIN.

Walk the City Walls - there is no charge for this and the views are stunning.
The cathedral is also a must - and don't forget to visit the cloisters, plus the museum with its 11C tapestry illustrating the Bible.
The Art Gallery is worth a visit, especially if you have an interest in religious art.
The Jewish Museum is also interesting.

Close to Barcelona, Girona is a very nice destination for 2-3 days. The city is compact, very beautiful with interesting story. Apart from the medieval and historic monuments, there is a cinema museaum and a lot of stores with manga, comics, toys nice for teenagers.
The property was beautiful. This is a historic hotel which has been completely renovated to modern standards. The walls are all stone in the main areas and guest rooms, some stone with wood beams in the ceiling. All the little details have been thought of down to monogrammed sheets and pillow cases.
Excellent breakfast of fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast, pastries, cheeses and hams, made to order eggs and the best coffee.
Hotel is centrally located in old town.
Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Location was OK, about a mile from the old town which is an easy walk. Breakfast was a good self service selection, as one expects in Spanish hotels. The cycle store facility was excellent. I accidentally left my cycle tool bag behind when I left, but the hotel staff located it and arranged for it to be shipped back to me. Thank you to all concerned.
This is a very modern and well maintained hotel in a good location about 5 minutes walk from the train station, which was very convenient. The old town is a short walk away. There is great sound insulation so this meant the room was very quiet and it was easy to sleep well. The staff were very helpful and friendly and this makes all the difference.
The location was great! It was nice to see lots happening in the hotel, there was a fitness facility, restaurant, and a bar for drinks and a casual breakfast with delicious coffee and croissants. There were directions for recycling items from traveling and packaging from shopping. The staff behind the front desk and at the bar were exceptional.
Old style middle class European hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel has an outstanding location, one block from the train station/bus station, on a quiet, yet lively street. The famous old town of Girona is a ten minute walk. Our bathroom was modern and efficient. The hotel lobby is cozy and comfortable.
The bed and pillows are incredibly comfortable! And, the location is close to the Girona train station, which was super convenient for me, as I only travel with a backpack, so I don't like to walk more than 10-15 minutes. This was about 8 minutes (for me) door to door. The hotel is very quiet and I had a pleasant stay.
Nice, modern hotel only a very short walk from the Old Town and a 10 minute cab ride from the station. The (upgrade) room was spacious and clean, nice bathroom and everything worked! Breakfast was very good too. The staff all spoke English and were very pleasant and helpful. A good choice.
For the price it was perfect honestly
Very clean , comfortable, helpful host ,right in the old town ,very good internet and parking also very near
During my stay in Catalonia it was by far the best place I've stayed and also the cheapest
If I ever come back I'll make sure to stay there again
Exceptional experience in the old town. Very nice and friendly host. I highly recommend this small but very atmospheric hotel for everyone and will definitely come back when I'm visiting Girona again! Wonderful, thank you so much!
Great location, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, hotel gives a discount on parking at a parking garage a few minutes walk away. There is a restaurant for breakfast (I think €13) but we didn’t eat there.
A perfect and special location in a historic building, home of one of the legends of Girona. The staff are wonderful and the beds and bedding are as comfortable as you will find in the very best hotels.
The owners were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast catered for all tastes, plus Hotel Historic is right in the middle of Old Girona
Beautiful room, clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location full of shops, half way the train station and the old town. There are 2 restaurants and a cafeteria in the hotel.
the pool and terrace area was lovely and chilled. the room was spacious and comfortable. it was great value compared to other hotels on our trip around Spain and France.
For me this is a hotel that deserves more than 3 stars. I am always surprised by the quality of the rooms, of food in the restaurant and the kindness of it's employees
great family hotel. modern just a little outside of Girona old town. 15 minutes walk was fine for us. staff very helpful. restaurant very good and great value.
