very traditional whitewashed villge come small town.
very traditional whitewashed villge come small town. A couple of interesting historic sites. Doesn't really cater for tourists in the evenings - takeaway or chinese is about it. Transport needs to be looked at carefully so you don't get stuck somewhere you can't easily get back from.

We booked for a week, but if staying longer, would have travelled further afield by train, to see more of the area. Plenty taxis nearby to get to and from the railway station. Alora is a hilly village, we took a taxi up to the Castle and walked back. Went to the bakers every morning for fresh bread, and the various fruit shops to get our fruit, and two quite big well stocked supermarkets, and a butcher shop

Alora is quite Hilly but manageable.
Alora is quite Hilly but manageable. We ate ar Bar Marin (great for Seafood) - check opening days, we also ate at Casa Abilio which was amazing.
The large Mercadona supermarket in town is big enough for all food shopping requirements - careful driving into and out of the underground car park.
Getting to the Caminito del rey if you have a hire car is a doddle - book tickets in advance from the official website. This website also has great advice https://anywhereweroam.com/caminito-del-rey/
Ronda is an hour in the car and worth a day trip - we ate at and would recommend Pura Cepa.
We also did the wine tasting in Alora with www.bodegasperezhidalgo.es - email them to make a booking.

It is a lovely town, with stunning views from all round, but especially from the castle. I stayed there in order to do the Caminito del Rey which was wonderful and Alora is a perfect place to stay to do that. The people in the town are friendly and it is very safe. There are lots of shops, banks, cafes bars and restaurants.

Little village, a small drive from el camito del rey.
Little village, a small drive from el camito del rey. Some nearby roads are unpaved but can be driven with a normal car which is not a 4x4. Peace and quite !
There is one restaurant that opens every day, the other had meals at lunch time, but in the evening was a bingo !
The lift provided access that wouldn't have been possible using stairs. It is the main reason we chose this location. The view from the terrace was amazing. The hosts communicated clearly and often to make sure everything went smoothly. Having "start up" food and beverages saved us from having to immediately shop. The apartment itself was well furnished and clean. The hosts provided a binder of important information about the apartment that was very helpful. We enjoyed our 4 days in Alora, and at this apartment.
Not the usual process but the owner kindly picked us up from Alora translation and took us to the apartment and then handed the keys over, we were not expecting this.......
The apartment was very clean, modern and tidy and for a change no leaking shower.
There is everything in the apartment that you could ever hope for including Steam Iron, Hair Dryer, Small Hair Tongs, dishwasher tablets, washing machine liquids and even a decent BBQ and beer in the fridge.
The home and the grounds were beautiful, the outdoor shower was fun and invigorating. Liz was an amazing hostess, great conversationalist and her breakfasts were amazing!
We were also impressed with the pueblo of Alora and the whole surrounding area. Centrally located within one hour drive of many activities and points of interest. We had a great time in Setenil de Bodegas, Ronda and Caminito del Rey hike.
A lovely oasis in Alora, close to el Caminito del Rey, Ronda and not too far from the coast. Very accommodating host, offering a great breakfast and even menu options during the day for those who want a pool day. Rooms are a nice size and very quiet and peaceful at night. Easy parking on site and easy to find. Beautiful sunsets - Highly recommended!
Comfy beds in a spotlessly clean room.
Safe place inside the building to store our two bicycles.
Friendly owner who spoke excellent English.
Nice touch having a coffee machine and fridge in the room.
Good internet.
Excellent value for money.
Liked the hotel so much that we stayed another night.
We would happily stay here again.
Self-Check-in instructions by the host were very helpful, perfect communication; room was quiet and clean, beds were large and comfortable. The hostal is conveniently located in the quaint village of Alora, a 30-minute drive to Caminito Del Rey's main parking area. Excellent value for money.
The location is perfect, very quiet.
About 8-10 minutes by car to supermarket (Mercadona) in Álora. One hour drive to El Torcal and half an hour drive to Caminito del Rey and lake district.
Pool is small but nice! Especially after a day of hiking.
The host is very nice and friendly!
Our hostesses made us feel right at home. The place is so beautiful and peaceful.
We wanted to eat dinner in the town of Alora and our hostess drove us to drop us off town to eat We walked back. It was so nice. If I could put higher than five stars, I would!
The location is perfect for Caminito del Rey walk.
The apartment is in the centre of the beautiful town of Alora.
Free parking is availble in a communal carpark a few hundred meters away.
The apartment itself was great. Well kitted out and everything worked.
The apartment and Alora in general are wonderful. The communication and instructions via WhatsApp were flawless and we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment had everything we needed and a bit more 😊 The balcony and the views are awesome 💎
I loved everything about this property.
Jenny was lovely!
The Casita was comfortable and beautiful.
Wished we could have stayed longer.
Would love to come back when they have renovated the small hotel.
Very spacious and comfortable house. The host were very friendly and flexible. The roof terrace is a real winner with beautiful views of Álora and its castle. Easy distance to El Caminito del Rey.
Charming hotel with high ceilings. Beautiful city. Friendly and helpful host. Excellent breakfast that included fresh crepes and orange juice. Exceptional value.
