Sergio and Gloria were perfect hosts, planning trips and ferrying us upriver to and from Tortuguero town. Sergio’s morning wildlife boat tour was a great experience - his wildlife spotting skills are second to none. Lovely breakfasts too.

Fabulous hosts who made us feel at home and helped us plan our stay. Gloria and Sergio ensured we were looked after, providing guidance, some lovely breakfasts, a laundry service and of course expert tours. Sergio took us by boat and collected us when needed. The room was very comfortable and clean. The location gave a glimpse into a different way of life within a local community.

We really enjoyed staying away from the tourist hub of Tortuguero in a much quieter place run by locals - but you are only a few minutes by boat from everything and Sergio was happy to take us when we wanted to go somewhere. The welcome was outstanding and Gloria and Sergio could not have been more willing to help us get the most out of our 2 night stay. Sergio's boat tour of the national park was a treasure as it was just the two of us and him in the boat, so we were able to glide quietly and saw so many animals birds and reptiles - including a very rare spotting of an ocelot and her cub! We were very glad we stayed here and highly recommend it. It was really good value for money for the service we received.

The hosts are very nice. It is located from a 10-minute boat ride to the center of Tortugero, but they are also arranging the transfers thereto. We went to a morning boat tour with the host in Tortugero National Park and it was the best experience - he is very knowledgable, and have very good eyes to spot even the smallest animals.

Cabañas Daneysha is located in San Francisco, a small village a 15 minute boat ride from Tortuguero. It is quiet, but we liked that and there are reasonably priced local eateries a short walk from the property. Sergio and Gloria are exceptional hosts. Gloria’s breakfasts are great and she had someone meet us at La Pavona to take us to the boat and booked the return trip for us. Sergio planned the whole of our two day visit. He took us to the start of the Cerro Tortuguero hike in his boat, took us on a 4 hour wildlife tour at a very reasonable cost (he is a very knowledgeable guide) and dropped us off and picked us up from Tortuguero. Soda Oasis, right beside the dock in Tortuguero made the best casado we had in the whole of our stay in Costa Rica.

Gloria the hostess was so calm, relaxing and helpful. The rooms have air conditioning which is essential in this region as it does get very hot and stays hot all night. The boat takes you right to the front door. Apart from the quiet cockerels it was very quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is superb and Gloria made it for us at 5am one morning when we needed to get to Tortugera for a trip starting at 6 Gloria's husband Sergio took us out on his boat one morning. You go directly from the front of the house. We were out for 4 hours and we saw so much wildlife. Sergio's knowledge of the area and the wildlife is second to none. I don't believe you will find a more knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. After the trip he dropped us off in Tortugera where we could get lunch and then picked us up again later when we called him to take us back. Again he turned what should have been a 10 minute boat ride into an hour long wildlife tour.
