A beautiful car-free village in the Swiss Alps, Zermatt is world-famous for its skiing and mountaineering qualities. Standing in the shadow of the impressive Matterhorn, this is a true Alpine paradise, popular with both celebrities and citizens of all nationalities.
Surrounded by stunning mountains and plenty of hiking trails, Zermatt offers more than just pretty views. The nearby Sunnegga Paradise ski area needs to be accessed by 3 successive means of transport: a funicular railway, a gondola and a cable car, making it a great ride with an even better finish! And in Zermatt, there is still even more!
This lovely village is a great base for hiking on the nearby Breithorn, the easiest trek of the entire Alps, rewarding the effort with a great panorama of the snow-covered mountain tops and charming villages below.
Try mountain biking in the Zermatt area and after a very active day relax in one of the cozy restaurants and bars with an open fire and comfortable armchairs. Or just have a stroll down the main street and enjoy the view of the wooden chalets and do some window shopping.
Get there by train and choose one of over 230 accommodations available on Booking.com: from cozy apartments to inviting hotels.
Zermatt is a pretty little ski/resort town. It is high-end - shopping and dining. Lift tickets, though, are about half the price of similar large resort like Vail or Aspen. Facilities and lifts are very good. If you're looking for well groomed, cruiser slopes, I would say that this not your place. However, there are some interesting things for non-skiers: rent a sled or a dog team, there are trains to tops of some of the mountains with nice restaurants on top. It would also be an excellent location for summer travel.

We previously stayed in Zermatt and therefore knew the village as being very good. Lovely vibrant main street with lots of eating venues. Our recent visit was only for one night to board the Glacier Express. Hotels provide transfers to all parts of the town eg. Railway station and ski bahnhof. Ultimately, an exciting, vibrant town.

Gorgeous clean city. Most everything in walking distance.
Gorgeous clean city. Most everything in walking distance. Taxi prices were high. And they drive a lil too hectic for a careless city.. Train prices high and retail high. I dont recommend the alcohol fondue. I wish i would have ordered the non alcohol....we went in late February and it seemed perfect weather. Clean water and air!!! A beautiful ski resort city definitely recommend...

Great view of the Matterhorn from anywhere in the village.
Great view of the Matterhorn from anywhere in the village. Really quaint place and great not having cars there apart from the electric golf buggy style taxis. A ride on the Gornergrat train is a must to the beautiful peak and get an even closer view of the Matterhorn. Loved it would definitely return although it is really expensive.

Absolutely loved the history of Zermatt, and we even went to the museum in the center of town. The mountains were so majestic and the pistes were pretty mellow even though 99 percent of runs were above tree line which is quite different than any resorts I've been to in the states and even Canada. The food was incredible. Everything is walkable, even getting to the lifts but the bus is free and take you too and from where you're staying to the slopes with a max 10 minute wait time. We ate at a variety of places... all absolutlye delicious but be prepared to drop some $$$. Loved Theodors Stuba, Weisshorn?, Papa Caesar, Zum See (difficult to get to for me snowboarding on a very icy trail there, but you can hike to it from town (photos included.. and I did that on the way back, worth it!) and really every other place was spectacular. We went to really nice gym Kraftwerk one day and paid for a day pass, worth it... but the woman there was quite rude... she barked "how did you get in, we're closed." (we got in as someone was leaving and the door was open lol) she let us pay but it was strange they didn't really want our business.
All in all, it was an amazing stay. The journey was long coming from Newark, NJ, USA (7+ hr flight plus 4 hour train) but totally and absolutely worth it. We stayed 7 days which was maybe a tad long... could have done 5 or 6.
Oh, also we got the international pass so we could snowboard in Cervinia in Italy. It's not always open to cross over but the 2 days we wanted to go we did... we could have just bought 2 passes instead of 4 (we rode 4 days) but it was pretty reasonable so it's all good.
If you're on the fence... just go!!! you'll love it :)

Most of the ski runs whilst long are narrow and groomed.
Most of the ski runs whilst long are narrow and groomed. They are like roads. No fresh snow during our stay so makes it hard to give an informed assessment of the skiing. Quite different to the big North American ski areas.
Average restaurants charge more than they should.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The owners are fantastic people who run their hotel very well and this reflects on the staff. The room was spacious and well furnished. Switzerland has a reputation for being expensive, but the price/quality ratio here is excellent. The 34° swimming pool is great: very well thought out with a large bubble bath bench and behind that an area for swimmers.
Zermatt itself is a bit mundane, but the hotel is very well located on the outskirts and the nature around Zermatt is of an amazing beauty.
Our family stayed at the panoramic Matterhorn view 4 twin bedroom, and we definitely got that panoramic view. The bedroom was nice with two beds on the base and two in the loft above. The best thing I loved about this hotel was the swimming pool, outside jacuzzi, and the sauna rooms. Definitely make sure to bring your swimsuit to experience all those free amenities that come as a package. Our family also booked a reservation to eat at the hotel restaurant, Restaurant Matterhorn. Our server was very friendly and the food was very good.
The size of the apartment perfect for our family of 8 people. We love how Ms Susi (the host) had already provided us many ingredients (pasta) and other food (juices, bottle of wine, etc) for the first night. She was an excellent host. The best we have experienced and we have been to Zermatt more than 10 times. Each bedroom had it's own shower, which was great. And the entire apt was very clean and there was a private place for kids to place outside. Wifi worked great and everything you need for a wonderful stay was included.
Zermatt is my favorite place to be in Switzerland I have been to other hotels in Zermatt and I would like to say that the hôtel post are my fav !!!
Especially the kindness of the personal !!! It’s important for me to feel like home and I feel like people care about us
I asked for the free shuttle and the driver was so so nice he made my day !
Covid allow 4 persons in the jacuzzi it’s perfect we had the jacuzzi all for ourselves !!!! 😃
Location perfect
Diner perfect
Thank you hôtel post !!!!
Amazing and clean apartment.
Spacious living room with kitchen with a beautiful mountain view. You can see there a Zermatt train going to Gornegrat :-)
How often do You get a fireplace, cable TV and soundbar music in apartment ?
All of the devices and equipment were the best quality.
One of the best things was that each of four bedrooms had a private bathroom :-)
We also got a private sauna !
Ski room and boots dryer was avaliable.
Thank You Claudia and hosts for our great time in Zermatt :-)
I traveled in Europe for 15 days. I can say that this is the best place to stay on my trip. The room is clean, spacious, complete with amenities. The important thing is that there is a view of the matterhorn as well.
The breakfast was impressive. The same level as a luxuary hotel Delicious and varied, especially the melon and parma ham.
Location was near zermatt station
Highly recommend this hotel, if there is a chance, will definitely come back to stay again.
rooms are clean and tidy, additional kitchen equipment available on request. staff is friendly and helpful. This mini-hotel is a typical accommodation you would find in Zermatt (except for ultra luxury hotels / chalets). Rooms are veeeery small but sufficient for a night stay after full day of skiing (and some apres-ski). Internet connection allowed an good quality conf-call when work duties necessitated..
Hotel owned and managed by a family who has the willingness to provide the best services. In the rooms, the decoration was very tasteful and the amenities are of very high quality. We rented two rooms during our stay and both rooms were perfect. Breakfast is home made with a large selection of local craft products (the bread was amazing). We will definitely be going back.
One of the best hotels in our 6 weeks of travel. On arrival you feel like you have been welcomed into the family. Great architectural design and furnishings. Close to great restaurants and ability to walk to all attractions. Slightly off the main street which was great as it was a bit quieter. Lovely bar for evening drinks. Would certainly stay here again.
The beau site is a fantastic hotel with a fun, quirky sense of playful luxury! Gorgeous spa and the outdoor pool is crazy amazing. The Grill restaurant at the hotel cannot be missed! It was incredible. Fabulous service throughout! Best breakfast on our entire three week trip through Switzerland. Proximity to old town is excellent. Many good restaurants nearby.
Hotel Romantica is an unique property with a couple of 220 year old loft cabins available to reserve. It’s in the heart of Zermatt, so the main drag is just steps away. But the best part of Hotel Romantica are Michelle and Thor. The innkeepers are the most kind, inviting and warm hosts! Their attention to everything made our stay something special!
Exceptional hotel! The experience starts when the hotel transfer from the train station to the hotel. We were welcome with welcome drinks. All the staff are super friendly and helpful especially check in counter. The breakfast spread is the best for my entire Switzerland trip. I chosen the room with Zermatt view and the view is magnificent.
Stunning view of the Matterhorn, stylish new boutique, hotel with comfort and character. the breakfast in the morning was top-notch. The spa and pool areas were also wonderful, and Staff was always friendly and eager to help. We would definitely stay here again if we ever have the privilege of returning to Zermatt.
I can't say how much I loved this perfect little hotel. A lot of Zermatt has gone 5 star luxury for the super tacky or ultra hip trying to get the young snowboarders. This is a quiet, authentic, genuine family hotel all done with love. The perfection of absolute simplicity. I adored it and will go back forever.
Lovely hotel in Zermatt, with views of the Matterhorn! It is cheap compared to other accommodation in the town. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and is great for keeping costs down, as eating out in Switzerland is very expensive. The rooms were well decorated and cosy. Ski storage room in the basement.
Antika upgraded my room free of charge which was excellent hospitality. Besides that the hotel is in an excellent location for skiing access with the bus stop literally right outside of the ski door. The main area of restaurants in Zermatt is also right close by. Very happy with my stay!
Everything. Miguel was very gentle when I arrived, recommending nice things to do depending on the weather. The location is the best, only about 200m from the train station and you can do everything by walking.
For sure when I return to Zermatt I will stay in this hotel.
We traveled across Switzerland on our holiday and the rooms at this property were the best. The decor was very well done and the space and view was excellent. The bathrooms alone were the size of some rooms in other hotels!
Really great hotel - after so many disapointments in Switzerland it was the best without doubt! Great Welsh guy at reception - helpful and speaks - ofcourse- English but clearly.
