Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and the entry point to Quebec province via Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport. Montreal truly has it all. Divided into East and West by Boulevard Saint-Laurent, there are several districts to the city, each offering a distinct atmosphere.
Downtown is best explored on foot, as you weave your way through skyscrapers and visit museums such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. In the winter you can steer clear of icy paths by heading underground to the passages of the Underground City, full of shops, movie theaters and food courts.
From there, the metro will conveniently take you outwards in any direction you might want to go, from the historic Old Montreal to the hip café and restaurant culture of the Quartier Latin-Le Village.
In summer, stay closer to the historic quarter and head outdoors in Parc Jean-Drapeau on the St. Lawrence River islands of Île Sainte-Helen and Île Notre-Dame. If the weather isn’t good enough for rowing, water-skiing and beaches then head to Montreal Casino.
Whether you’re visiting for festivals or fashion, gastronomy or culture, with over 190 hotels and B&Bs with Booking.com you’ll find your perfect home away from home.
There are many things to do in Montreal. Getting the Montreal Passeport and planning your trip in advance (making reservations) will do you well. Many things to do for both kids and adults. Food was great! It was our second time so we didn't do some of the things we already did before. Our itinerary went like this:
Day of arrival: 6PM Art Chaos - Spin Art and Bar, then Schwartz' Deli for Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast at Le Bisco (buffet) at Hotel Bonaventure. Montreal Biodome, Insectarium, Jean Talon Market, and Laser Tag Evolution in Marche Central. Montreal Casino in the evening. Night Swimming at Hotel Bonaventure.
Day 3: Habitat 67, Mount Royal Lookout (Kondiaronk Belvedere), Late Breakfast/Early Lunch at Le Croissanterie Figaro. Le Grande Roue (Ferris Wheel), Notre Dame Basilica, Chinatown. Late Lunch at Dobe & Andy, which was fantastic. Dragon Beard Candy. Afternoon coffee from Cafe Olimpico. Night Swimming at Hotel Bonaventure
Day 4, Day of Departure: Some decided to stay in to swim, so a couple did a breakfast run: got some chocolate babka from Boulangerie Cheskie (amazing!), a dozen croissants from Le Saint Louis (amazing again! this is to take back home too), and coffee and tea from Cafe Alphabet, which was also good. Oasis Immersion at 11:00AM (reservation for 10:40AM, but they let us i no problem). Went to Carrefour for a second to buy some fountain pen ink at Stylo.ca. Sunday Brunch at Renoir at 1:30.
Most of the activities were included in the Montreal Passeport and made it a great value. We could've done more museums, but we were with a 7 year old child, who would get bored.
We had a great time. Food was great. Lots of things to do! Definitely recommend the places we visited. The hotel pool makes staying at Hotel Bonaventure worth it, especially in snowy weather.

Montreal in March was windy and cold - you should be properly dressed! I don't like skyscrapers and high buildings, but lod ones were nice. I recommend buying a 3 day pass at the airport: it includes unlimited travels on bus and metro as well as a 747 bus from the airport.

We were there for the World Figure Skating Championships - so most of the time we were at the Belll Center. But we did go out to eat (LATE) and there were many good restaurants in the area. We did do some sightseeing (Notre Dame and the Museum of Fine Arts) - loved that. I would like to go back in the summer - ha!

We loved our first visit to Montreal.
We loved our first visit to Montreal. We were a little intimidated by it being primarily French speaking but had no problems getting around or communicating. We did a food tour, which was the highlight of our stay. We wished we could have stayed longer because we wanted to explore Mount Royal and do another tour.
We had planned to ice skate at the Old Pier under the giant wheel, but it closed one day early due to weather, so we missed it.
We also did a trip to Quebec City which was magical- highly recommended.
There were so many cute restaurants to choose from or you can Door Dash almost anything if you don’t want to go out.
The city was very walkable and we felt safe even at night. We Ubered anywhere that was too far to walk and were picked up within 1-3 minutes every time.
We plan to come back and do all the things we couldn’t due to time or season.

Montreal is like an old european country.Roads are very narrow and there are steep areas. It can be confusing esp if you dont speak french. Some areas are rundown and there are a lot of graffities which cheapens the area. Too many constructions going on. Amazed that the people in the service iindustry could speak and understand english and french. Highly recommened places: Notre Dame basilica and its Aura experience; St. Joseph oratory (very beautiful), Ferris wheel on the old port; Biodome (great for kids)

Worth visiting as the city is unique in its own right.
Worth visiting as the city is unique in its own right. Hopefully when you visit, the weather is amenable, as that can make quite the difference between wanting to hibernate indoors or wanting to explore all the city has to offer.
The location is amazing! The room was much nicer than the pictures made it seem. It was the fastest and most efficient check-in I have ever experienced.
The women on the front desk knew we were in town, along with many others (for a concert). They asked us how it was and how long we had to wait, due to covid. They were genuinely happy for us.
The cost of many hotels in downtown Montreal is very high. This one was literally the cheapest, and it was still amazing.
I will absolutely stay here the next time I am in Montreal.
The hotel was a great deal for anyone looking to travel on a budget and be close to downtown and the best highlights of Montreal. It was my first time staying in a hostel abroad and it allayed my fears. I stayed in an all-female room of 12 and it was super safe and clean all the time. The jacuzzi on the roof is amazing and the staff were friendly and multi-lingual. I even extended my stay one extra day. I would 100% recommend this place to friends, solo travellers and especially female solo travellers.
Great hotel, right off of Downtown Montreal, walking distance to the Old Port and Old Montreal. Easy access by public transport from the airport and the train station. I originally booked a room with 2 double beds but we got a room with 3 double beds which was awesome since we were 3 travellers. We arrived at the hotel around 9.30am, and although the check in wasn’t until later, they gave us the room right away as it was ready. Great for a couple of nights to explore the city.
This was our second time there. This time we went with our 9 and 17 year daughters. The hotel is multidimensional, meaning my wife and I could separate from the kids in the evening and enjoy a nightcap in the lounge. Or, the kids could explore the pool and facilities. This hotel is conveniently located next to a RESO( Underground city), St Catherine, and the rest of downtown and Old Montreal. Parking is also available on the premises.
The hotel is in excellent location. We can walk to the Old Montreal in 15 minutes. It is close to the train, subway station and there are a lot of restaurants nearby. The bed is clean and comfortable. The room is clean with hardwood floor and ceramic tile. It was quiet at night considering its situated right downtown. I'm quite happy with my stay. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the breakfast since we got up late every day.
We had a very pleasant stay in Courtyard by Marriott Montreal Downtown Hotel.
We arrived hotel earlier and hotel staff nicely accommodated our earlier check-in request .
The room is super clean and beds are very comfortable.
The hotel's location is excellent, close to all amenities that we wanted to visit.
We will definitely book this hotel again when we come back to Montreal in the future.
We were surprised and delighted to get a corner room which had nice sunlight and a great view. The location is fantastic. So easy to access Old Montreal and Chinatown and other downtown neighborhoods.
We walked many miles and also used public transportation which very accessible from the hotel.
We definitely would stay here again and recommend to others.
Awfully clean, good room altho small, but can't beat price for downtown Montreal. Could have been noisy, but I requested a quiet room on 6th floor and I didn't hear a peep. Great value fir short term overnight base to stay. IBID, the concierge couldn't have been more helpful, he was exceptional!!! Great asset to this hotel. He was French.
In the middle of Downtown Montreal, easily walkable to many of the top attractions in the area. the hotel is beautiful and very modern. Check-in and out was so easy and simple as they had self serve stations and incredibly fast and friendly staff helping everyone in between. seamless transition into the hotel.
Location could not be better. The only proper hotel in the plateau. The worst thing about montreal is all the hotels are downtown or in the place des arts district. The location of this hotel is directly above the Sherbrooke metro. No steep hills to walk up and no sketchy neighbours you have to walk through.
Location close to City attractions, main streets, restaurants, old historic Montreal as well as to downtown and festivities. Close to Metro and Airport Bus stop also. Very convenient. Nice staff to talk with. Nice clean room. St. Denis street is a lively street full of variety of restaurants close to hotel.
The hotel was beautiful! Very nice rooms and lobby. Our room was on the smaller side; however, it was the perfect size for my friend and I. Location was pretty good! From the hotel to downtown Montreal it was a 10ish minute walk and 5 minute walk to Via Rail. Would definitely stay here again!
Excellent location for our interests and needs. Great to have large room and little kitchen. Loved being able to walk to Mont Royal, the art museum and the best bakery ever off Peel St. Also to explore a vibrant part of downtown. Loved the incredible Greek restaurant adjoining the hotel.
Perfect location to see Old Montreal, Chinatown and the shopping district - anyone up for a walk can reach all these areas easily. This hotel was the cheapest option in Old Town Montreal. I wouldn't say it was the best or the cleanest but overall worth the price and I enjoyed my stay.
The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and so helpful. The hotel is in a great location downtown with everything you can think of right around the corner. Loved staying here and it will become my go to when traveling to Montreal
The downtown location was convenient to Mount Royal and Old Town. The hotel amenities were very nice, the room was lovely, and the bed was very comfortable. The room included an Nespresso machine with pods & creams, which was very nice for our early departure.
It was an excellent experience... I have stayed at few chain hotels in Canada. This hotel by far is the best experience I had at a boutique hotel..
Everything was well thought out and exceptional attention to detail.. I will definitely recommend this hotel..
The location of the hotel is in the center of Downtown Montreal, which is close enough to go anywhere. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The room is spacious and clean. I will recommend the place strongly.
