The double brick executive home is set in one acre of Australian bush but only 30 kilometres from the CBD of Brisbane. The views from the verandah look out onto the hills of the D'Aguilar ranges with birds, wallabies, lizards and other wildlife inhabiting the area. The home is open plan with cathedral ceilings and well appointed with tiles, carpets, blinds, curtains and soft furnishings with comfortable beds and outdoor setting and barb-b-que to enjoy the landscape from the deck. The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, utensils, wall oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, electrical appliances etc. The laundry is equipped with ironing board, iron, washing machine, tub and dryer. The bedrooms have ceiling fans, wardrobes , with a walk in robe and en-suite bathroom in the Main Bedroom. There is an air conditioner in the main living area and main bedroom. The huge rumpus room is the fourth bedroom with table tennis, fan, sofa, TV, DVD, games and books. Right next door is Coucals Garden which has been featured on television and boasts two acres of landscaped gardens containing native and exotic plants. The gardens can be explored using designated gravel paths during your stay.
My husband Jim and I moved to the property with our two young children in 1980. We purchased the property because it had trees on it and had great views of the hills. Being a builder, Jim built both houses whilst I worked with computers and gardened. Since retiring we have built a 2 acre garden from scratch and continue to develop and maintain it. We enjoy opening the garden to the public for charity and have done so for the last 12+ years. Being in the hills, many of the gardens are on a slope so it has been a labour of love to source the right plants for the area. Orchids have been a passion for both of us and we have expanded our collection and incorporated them into the garden. We have been renting our second property since 1996 and more recently for holiday letting. We have enjoyed welcoming people from all over the world to share this piece of Australian bush.
Mount Crosby was developed in the late 1800's as a Water Catchment for Brisbane. The Brisbane River comes right up to this area and is a great enjoyment to the locals, for swimming, canoeing and leisure. Mount Crosby is a quiet, green area which has mostly acreage homes with hobby farms and horses. The undulating hills resound the calls of many birds that live and visit the area as well as wallabies, kangaroos, lace monitors, lizards etc. It is a peaceful, quiet area with many walks that can be enjoyed throughout the hills.
