Tirana - Such a modern city for a non-EU capital
Tirana boasts a diverse architectural landscape that mirrors its historical evolution and rapid urban growth. The city's structures showcase a fusion of Ottoman, Italian, Communist-era, and contemporary designs.
*Ottoman Legacy:
Some of Tirana's older districts retain traces of Ottoman influence, featuring characteristic elements such as mosques and traditional architecture nestled along narrow streets.
**Italian Imprints:
The Italian occupation of the early 20th century left an indelible mark on Tirana, evident in the construction of grand boulevards, squares, and buildings reflecting fascist aesthetics, like the Palace of Culture and government edifices surrounding Skanderbeg Square.
***Communist Footprints:
The communist era ushered in monumental projects characterized by utilitarian, block-like structures. Examples include the Pyramid of Tirana (formerly the Enver Hoxha Museum), standardized apartment blocks, and the Blloku neighborhood, once exclusive to high-ranking party officials.
****Contemporary Trends:
Recent years have witnessed a surge in modern architectural endeavors, with the emergence of sleek office towers, residential complexes, and infrastructural enhancements, signaling Albania's aspirations for modernity and integration with Europe.
In sum, Tirana's architectural tapestry offers a captivating narrative of its multifaceted past and dynamic present, inviting exploration and appreciation from aficionados of urban design.

Full trip was good and people were friendly. but at the end during taking the return flight, I fell victim to a new type of scam at Tiarana Airport in Albania. When I ordered coffee at a cafeteria, the price displayed was 1080 ALL (where 1 ALL equals approximately 0.0097 Euro). However, upon paying with my bank card at the POS machine, the shopkeeper deceitfully charged me 1080 Euros. Although I noticed the amount of 1080, I failed to verify the currency on the POS device, assuming they would charge in the local currency as usual. It was only upon returning to my home country that I realized I had paid 1080 Euros for a product that should have cost around 10.60 Euros.

Tirana is a great city it has a lot to offer great sights especially the main square Skanderbeg and the Pyramid is good, you must climb it when you visit. These kebab shops and restaurants all over the city and food is quite cheap for English tourists. If you have time you can do a day trip to Durrës which is only 35 minutes by bus from the airport costs Lek 600 one way. For an unpopular tourist destination Tirana deserves more positive attention, because it’s interesting. These plenty to see and do and although traffic is busy it’s got a relaxing atmosphere.

What a vibrant city Tirana is... so many things to do, we went on a free walk and found out a lot about the history of Albania and the city of Tirana, really friendly people, so helpful... 5 days was not long enough, would definitely go back.
Amazing royal brand new hotel, looks like a palast. The bed and blanket was the most comfortable one we had on our 3 week Albania trip! Also super clean and quiet.
Staff was super nice and organized a birthday cake for my boyfriends birthday. Also breakfast that was included was very high standard and this for a super low price compared to all the apartments in Tirana. I would definitely recommend living there in a peaceful place a little outside of the city and and drive to Tirana 15-20 min. For us it was a perfect stay.
The hotel is located in very quiet corner but at the same time very close to tourist attractions.
Check in was very smooth and vast.the room is very large, clean and comfortable.
The breakfast is open bovete with fair variety.
Mr. Giordano in the reception is very great man.He volunteerly helps you and explained to you the tourist attractions and even go with you outside the hotel to show you the directions.
Mr Michel and Mr.Sebastian are if great help also.
In general it's the best hotel I stayed in in Albania.
Metro Hotel Tirana is a relatively new hotel, with a great location, near the best restaurants, bars and center. What was amazingly surprising were the very reasonable prices given the quality of the rooms and its location. But the best part of it, is the staff, especially the two girls at the reception. Wonderful service. I am Albanian myself, living in Switzerland and I must say I have rarely encountered such accommodating staff. My daughters and I will certainly come back !
The flat is located in a very central location just a short walk from the city centre. Matias who met me at the property to do the check in was extremely friendly and always available via whatsapp when I had further questions. In addition, I was able to get a parking spot right inside the building which made the beginning of my trip through Albania pleasant, as I did not have to worry where to leave the car whilst exploring Tirana. Overall, can highly recommend this flat.
This hotel is amazing, should be 5stars, all new and top clean, well organized, room & lobby bar look great. The best is spa, never been in such as beautiful spa , great relax , atmospere , hammam and massages. Very helpful staff, we checked out early in the morning at 4am and they prepared us breakfast bags. Hotel is close to the city center, air albania stadium and blokku with nice and goods restaurants. Fantastic hotel, enjoyed the 3nights stay a lot, thank you.
All good: great location - 15 mins by walk from the city center; spacious apartment with all the facilities, well equipped kitchen, AC, comfy bed and clean bathroom.
Breakfast was served in the cafe downstairs - tasty sandwiches, fresh juices and delicious coffee (one of the best we tried in Albania).
Around the accommodation there are some great restaurants, multiple supermarkets and different small shops. Very convenient. Would stay again once in Tirana :)
We were returning from Berat by Bus and had a flight from Tirana the next day. Hence booked this hotel as it is very conveniently located just outside the Tirana Bus terminal (only a 2 minutes walk). The check in was very quick and the lady at the reception was so helpful and customer centric. She tried her best to give us directions to the city centre. The room # 317 was very spacious and was very bright during the day. The linen was of very good quality
The garden facing room was newly refurbished, spacious and stylish. Quality fit outs. The only shortcoming was the entry door, which should have been refitted with a better sound-proofing one - all the noise from the corridor is audible in the room.
The garden is very nice, a little oasis in the bustling city center of Tirana. Breakfast and service were above what you get in other similar hotels in Albania.
Stayed at Vila Korani for two weeks and it was a wonderful time in Tirana indeed. I cannot complain about anything! The Vila is well located near the city centre, the room was spacious, clean, comfy and breakfasts were the superb start of a day. The best part of my stay at the Vila Korani was its staff. They are really nice people who will make you feel like home. Hope to come back someday.
Amazing hotel and very comfortable and they take care of their guests.
Serve amazing breakfast and they prepared the food what guest requests.
Staff is so helpful ☺
Location in city center, albania " 1 minutes walking to skander berg Square "
Highly recommend to stay for any guest whome plane to visit tirana, Albania 🇦🇱
Thank you so much for your amazing hosting 😍❤ ✈🌍🇦🇱
I reserved the apartment for one day with my friends and everything was perfect. The apartment was clean and spacious with everything needed inside. The location next to the city center and a free parking near the apartment. The hosts were very kind and helpful with everything we needed. We would absolutely choose this apartment again for our next trip in Albania !!!
This was probably one of my favorite hotels that I stayed at in Tirana and actually maybe even in Albania overall. The staff were incredibly friendy, the bed was very big and comfortable, the room clean but my two favorite things were the overall ambiance/decor of the hotel and the location. I would absolutely stay there again and recommend this hotel to anyone!
The staff at Hotel Stela were so attentive and friendly, particularly the concierge Elvis who helped me navigate Albania's bus routes and book a covid test. He was always on hand if I had any questions. The bed was extremely comfy and the room + bathroom where an amazing size for the price. It's also a 10 minute walk from the city centre. Would highly recommend
Elisa Hotel was the best hosting experience I ever had in Tirana. The staff was phenomenal, the location was not more than 10 minutes flat-enjoyable walk from the city center plaza, the car care and service for parking was perfect etc. The best part was the room that was super clean, premium looking and very well kept. Will be visiting again for sure!
The best experience i have ever had in Albania. The property was in the city center, only 3 minutes away from “Sheshi Skenderbej”.
The house was so comfortable. Everything was so clean and tidy. Also the boy was so humble and so helpful. He suggested us a lot of restaurants and places i must visit in Tirana.
I would highly recommend it.
Love this hotel, very nice and really clean. In a great location from the Airport on 15 minutes. Everything within walking distance of Tirana city centre.Great breakfast, something to suit everyone. Roof top bar a lovely place to relax after a lovely day of touring Tirana.
The hotel is near the city centre. The wood arredation made for some nice aesthetics. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was really clean. Also the view of the boulevard adds to the appeal of the room. Breakfast was ample and delicious.
A decent hotel, at an excellent location, a walking distance to the city center, exceptionally clean,.good breakfast, very pleasant staff, comfi beds,.rooms cleaned every day, towels changed daily, good value for.money.
Beautiful room and absolutely incredible breakfast. it is the best breakfast of the whole trip in Albania. the location was stellar—right by the center, close to dining, and very lively.
