Lived in China for 9 years now and this is one of my all time favourites. Accommodation is completely authentic Dong Village guest rooms, plus excellent air con, showers, beds etc. Really thoughtful and high quality renovation, maintaining all of the local features whilst also providing great comfort. Helpful and smiley hospitality provided by Xiao Chen with quality breakfasts and coffee for those who need the morning surge. It is such a beautiful area. The villages have retained their historic feel and there is some truly gorgeous hiking through a nearby valley with rice terraces and tea plantations. Local people are genuinely welcoming and friendly and there is great food to be had in the local family restaurants. This was my second visit. I will undoubtedly return.

Junshe Boutique Guest House provides comfortable accommodation in Guilin, conveniently located just 1 km away from Seven Star Park. During my stay, Fei and her husband were incredibly helpful, assisting me in booking excursions and organizing my travels. The hotel itself is immaculately clean and well-maintained. I wholeheartedly recommend staying at their establishment

Baike Boutique Hotel is located in Longji Rice Terraces and offers a restaurant. Most of its rooms offer priavte balcony with stunning terrace views. Even better than the pictures! Perfect location. Fantastic and helpful staff. I wish I had stayed much longer than two nights. I can't overhype this hotel!

Just 5 km from Yangshuo, The Giggling Tree is an unique guest house which is located in the tiny village of Little Mountain Gate. Very relaxing stay and a big bonus to be able to rent bikes to go cycling in the beautiful countryside.

Offering a restaurant and free bikes, Zen Box House is located in Jiuxian Village, 9 km from Yangshuo city centre. Loved the laid back vibe of the village and the hotel. I was after a retreat from the city and that’s exactly what I got, didn’t want to leave! 老张 is very hospitable - always checking if you’re hungry and then will whip something up in the kitchen. Another guest that arrived said they wanted to hike some of the nearby hills so 老张 was like, ‘let’s go!’ and took us - the entrance is through someone else’s kitchen/back garden so we’d never have got access ourselves. He also mentioned he could take us to places to swim, climb etc. Really love the village atmosphere, everyone knows each other and knows the secret routes/best food spots. Reminded me of my rural village community in the UK. I was able to borrow 老张‘s road bike and cycled to the river to catch one of the rafts, it’s about a ~30min leisurely cycle to get there. There are cycle/foot paths along the river too, so another nice way to experience the scenery. The hotel itself is very quaint. I had one of the Japanese style single rooms and was very happy there, it looks exactly like the picture. They will pre-heat the bed for you in the colder months, nice touch! Water, tissues, towel etc all provided. The toilets and showers are just downstairs, a 10 second walk, and are very pleasant. The toilets are the Japanese ones with heated seats etc. The other helper is also lovely, and she packed my rucksack with fresh pomelo when I set off for my cycle excursion. They grow pomelo etc. beside the house, and also have chickens so eggs fresh too. Loved the rooftop, very zen and great view over the hills. They also have some friendly cats. Will 100% return.

Long Ji One Art Hotel offers peaceful retreat in a bamboo stilted building in Longsheng. Free WiFi access is available. Some units offer stunning views of Longsheng Rice Terrace. The Staff is very friendly, they work as a family and the food they serve is very traditional Chinese food which we liked a lot. The bath tub on the terrace was a blast, kids and us enjoyed a lot relaxing in a warm water tub after a long trip.

A 2-minute ferry ride from Xing Ping Town, Our Inn offers sweeping views of the mountains. It features free Wi-Fi, a restaurant and cosy rooms with a cable TV. Everything! It was such a great place - our host Shirley was fantastic and so helpful, her English was fantastic and she was so kind and generous with her time. It was such a cosy, authentic and comfortable stay. Even the food was homestyle, fresh and tasty. I felt so at home there.

Surrounded by mountains, rivers and underground caves, Yangshuo Village Inn is only a 5-minute walk from Moon Hill and a 15-minute drive from West Street Tourist Centre. Free Wi-Fi is provided. Location is right across Moon Hill, room: we love the room in the old house setting, spacious and homie, all the staffs are excellent, best service so far especially Lingling very helpful.
