Very nice cottage, clean and fairly quiet given the proximity of the road. Really liked the spacious deck looking over the countryside, relaxing wine and cheese spot!

Very good location for exploring Martinborough area. Lovely friendly experience with superb gourmet food - both breakfast and dinner. Very like being a welcome guest in somebody's home. The host, Rachel, very engaging and interesting - and a great source of information about the local food and wine scene. Lovely garden that also produced fresh organic ingredients for meals.

Martinborough is the jewel in the crown of the Deep South of the North Island of NZ. It is a beautiful quaint rural town which is ideal to visit if you want a peaceful retreat amongst vineyards, wineries, fabulous restaurants and a thriving cafe culture.
I highly recommend visits to Cape Palliser Lighthouse and Seal Colony followed by Lake Ferry then back to Nga Waka for wine tasting and superb pizza lunch.
Nara Cafe is the go-too for coffee full stop.
A stay at the Wine Shed polishes the experience perfectly.
We'll be back!

Unfortunately the hotel did not meet expectations. The floor slooped badly in the bedroom and we both experienced a sense of dizzy spells. We both snubbed our toes on the uneven floor between the bedroom and bathroom. We considered the bath dangerious as it was slipperly and no hand rails. Staff were rather unfriendly. We paid what was to us a lot of money for our wedding anniversary night and didnt enjoy the hotel at all . Always wanted to stay there but would not again and would not recommend it.

The vineyards are the main attraction for going to Martinborough. There are numerous offerings and are within easy walking or biking distance of each other. Cellar door tastings are readily available at a wide variety of vineyards, from smaller family vineyards, to the more sophisticated offerings. Muirlea Rise is an example we tried of the former, and Ata Rangi for the latter. Both were really good in their very distinct offerings. Poppies Vineyard is a really good lunch option. Martinborough's weather is typically really good - that's partly why the vineyards are there.

You need to go to Poppies Winery, book a wine tasting! Not only is the wine delicious but the service is superb. You get to learn heaps about how wine is make, the decisions made by the wine maker and what makes of the wine from Poppies special.
HIGHLY recommend Tirohana Estate. We were well looked after when we went for a wine tasting by a lovely gentleman who made the experience very special. He had great charisma and was passionate about wine, we learnt lots!
We went to little square pizza for dinner and they looked after us very well, and provided the MOST divine range of pizzas. Everyone was happy, and they also cater for Vegans too!

Martinborough town center is built around the town square,...
Martinborough town center is built around the town square, with maybe 8 shops (mainly eateries) off some of the spokes coming off the square. It has a huge 4-Square shop so you do not need to worry about food shopping at all.
Stayed here for a night and the apartment unit I was in was expertly furnished. Amazing kitchen, living room, dining table area. There was parking right in front of the unit, good bathroom facilities as well. There is a sheet with tons of information on the motel itself, services in the surrounding area, and amenities which pretty much covered everything I needed. Only a 2 minute drive from Martinborough center where there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and stores.
Perfect place for a stay in Martinborough. Excellent heating for the cooler nights and the living areas catch the sun in the day, Five minutes walk to the town square and a short drive or easy walk (for us) to the many of the vineyards. Could not fault the cleanliness and all amenities are there for a short or longer stay.
Location was perfect for hiring bikes and going out for dinner and breakfast. Lots of amazing options of places to eat and the vineyards were lovely! Everyone (mostly!) were very friendly and welcoming - we had an amazing weekend away (sorry for being a bit too noisy in the evening too 😔)
Gorgeous hotel right on the central town square. They have a great restaurant downstairs and you're a block or two away from other great drinking and dining options. The space is thoughtfully renovated while preserving the inn's historic charm.
The Martinborough Hotel had the most amazing breakfast menu. The Salmon rosti was great. The local pub Pukemanu was great awesome friendly service. The vineyards were lovely but would be awesome if you had your own 4/6 seater bikes for hire.
A beautiful cottage with everything we needed. Didn't do any cooking as Martinborough has so many dining options available. We laughed at the DVD's on offer but played cards instead of watching a movie.
Great folder with info about cottage
Location was beautiful, especially in the mornings waking up practically on the vineyard with such nice weather! Staff was so friendly and lovely, good vibes. Wasn’t too far away from Martinborough square either.
Location was excellent, within walking distance of the main eateries and shops.
Quiet neighbourhood was very appealing.
Used Martinborough as a central point for 3 days of viewing the surrounding townships.
This was the only accommodation in Martinborough available for the night we wanted to stay and for that I am very grateful. Good location in the main township. Walking distance to the Square
A very warm welcome. Rachel was the consummate hostess. Wish we had stayed longer than one night as the Martinborough Fair was being held. First Saturday of February and March annually.
Great location among the vineyards. Easy walking distance to Martinborough for groceries/eateries. Good sized rooms and well equipped kitchen. Good facilities.
Very comfortable bed in a spacious suite, nice private deck, in walking distance of Martinborough town centre and close to all the wineries. Great location.
