Close to the centre of Saumur, the hotel Anne D'Anjou is overlooking the river and has a view of the chateau above.

All of the rooms offer a satellite TV and views of the Loire River and of the chateau. Five of these rooms still have their original decor (Louis XVI, Restoration, Empire periods). Rooms with views of the river or castle are available upon request. The room was unique, had wonderful architectural features and was very spacious. The staff was terrific, and helpful in assisting us with getting cabs.

This accommodation is on the top floor of a beautiful old town house on a quiet street within 5 minutes of the medieval old town of Le Mans. The suite is spacious with a separate lounge, the bed was very comfortable, there's a fabulous bathroom and there is interesting artwork, antiques and curios throughout the house. Our hosts were warm, knowledgable about the area and very helpful. Breakfast was delicious with juice, coffee, pastries and homemade preserves and jams. We stayed for 2 nights and it was very comfortable. Good for a single person or couple.

It is just a 6-minute walk from Le Mans Cathedral and 8 km from Le Mans Circuit and features a fireplace, a wooden floor and a flat-screen TV. Located on the Loire River, just a 20-minute drive from Angers, Château de Belle Poule is set on a former farm and offers a 2-hectare park. Saumur is 47 km away.

Situated in converted barns, all rooms feature a flat-screen TV and silk duvet. The en suite bathroom includes a hairdryer and free toiletries, while the suite also offers a spa bath. We were travelling from Normandy to Ile de Re towing a trailer and we needed secure parking. The location of the chateau was perfect for us and as the chateau is behind closed gates we had no worries about leaving the trailer unattended while we were in the local town having dinner. Catherine was very welcoming and suggested several places to eat that evening, we ended up in an open-air cafe/bar in the local park with views over the river. The bedrooms are spacious with a very comfortable bed and a spotless bathroom. We had a very nice continental breakfast. We would certainly return to stay again.

An LCD TV and a wardrobe feature in all of the accommodation at Hotel Le Saint Aubin. Each is decorated in neutral tones with one main colour and some have a separate seating area. What a teriffic find. A quiet village hotel, we stayed in a converted outbuilding that had been done up to the highest standard. Beautiful courtyard garden, lovely breakfast in the conservatory and the added bonus of a restaurant right next door. It was a great place to stop over on our way back to Roscoff having done a weeks skiing in the Alps.
