We felt truly welcome and well taken care of at Casa Franco da Serra. This family-run hotel has a warm, homely atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The owner and her son were incredibly kind and always willing to help with anything we needed. We were even invited to a small family gathering over the weekend, and everyone was so warm and friendly! It was such a lovely way to experience real Portuguese hospitality on our first visit to Portugal. The hotel is located a bit outside the town center, so having a car is convenient for getting around. That said, we managed perfectly well using the bus (there’s a stop right in front of the house) and returning by taxi without any issues. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Terceira who is looking for peace, nature, and a quiet retreat.

The best stay of my time in the Azores! It was the first time during my whole stay in the Azores that I felt like I was at home. It was so peaceful, the farm animals are charming, and the hosts are the most welcoming and kind people I've ever met. They don't speak English but are super proficient and efficient at using Google Translate, so there was no problem at all. The room was perfect and the bed was super comfortable. The hosts also offer a home-cooked lunch/dinner for an additional fee which was MORE than worth it. The dinner came with an appetizer, wine, entree, and a dessert, and the complimentary breakfast is pretty standard. There is a little hut on the premises that serves as the dining room, and it's super cozy and a great place to meet the other guests and chat with the hosts. Their dog is the absolute sweetest and I LOVED my time here.

Really cosy and comfortable apartment. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you might need. There is also private parking, and nice garden with bbq facilities. We really enjoyed the breakfast which was left in the fridge for us (local products) and the fact that the baker brought us bread in the morning was also really nice. The location is also pretty good, just few minutes walk from the center of the village and the shop, and the Santa Barbara viewpoint can also be reached on foot (about 15 minute walk downhill). The host was also really helpful, tried to help us with everything and even offered to pay for our breakfast one morning when the baker forgot to bring us the bread. Overall a great apartment in a very peaceful environment for a great price.

Staying at Marina de São Mateus was like peeking into the lives of real Azorans; the apartment is located at a working fish harbor with boats coming in & out all the time. I had everything needed for a comfortable & peaceful place to stay while exploring the island. A short walk to a super market, an ATM & a pharmacy... though the nearby Mini Mercado Sousa was more fun to explore & had quite a variety of necessary household goods. On a practical note, having a washer/dryer was very convenient & the Wi-Fi was excellent. The park along the harbor is a nice place to walk or sit & watch the boats; there is also an exercise / children's playground available on the far side. Mara was an excellent host with many good recommendations for places to explore. Locally can wholeheartedly recommend Baia W for a fresh, friendly meal; the squib was tender & savory. Only a few minutes drive to downtown Angra to see the architecture & tourist shopping, or drive the other way to see the cheese factory, Queijo Vaquinha & have samples, a drink & or a sandwich with a pleasant atmosphere & blue water view.
