Porto was interesting but the river area was very busy with lots of loud music. It is also very, very hilly. The funicular wasn't working when we visited. this would have made a massive difference to a retired couple with dodgy knees! The Lello bookshop is definitely worth a visit. The Palacio was good too but the guided tours are only 25 minutes. The 6 bridges boat trip only sailed under 4 bridges and pointed out the other 2. The tram trip out to near the Atlantic was great. We took a taxi once to get to our restaurant for dinner but the traffic was so gridlocked, we got out early and walked which was quicker. Our favourite restaurant was Taberna dos Fernandes.

A beautiful, historical, picturesque, plenty to see and to do with or without children. Central streets very crowded so be ready. Also give plenty of time gor everything as transport takes long time due roadworks and hills. Trams is a must so are the beaches. Lots of cafes with wonderful pastries. World Discovery museum was wonderful way to learn about history and experience a boat trip

Porto is a beautiful city, perfect for a short trip.

Porto is a beautiful city, perfect for a short trip. We stayed for 3 nights which is great amount of time to absorb the feel of the city. Although there are buses and a metro line we walked everywhere as we wanted to take in all the sights, the historical centre is relatively small so not a problem, it is very hilly, but as we had been before we were prepared for this. On one of the days we booked a boat trip along the Douro, taking a bus to Regua and returning to the city by boat, this is a full day trip including lunch but totally worthwhile with some stunning scenery. We also booked the Casa do Fado for a live fado performance which was a great introduction to fado music and its history. Highly recommend this beautiful city and will definitely be back.

The restaurants, walking tours and waterfront were all easily accessible from our hotel. The scenery is beautiful. On our next trip there we would like to tour the port wineries on the other side of the river and perhaps visit the Douro wine region.

Good restaurants, excellent wine tasting tour of Douro Valley with 'aDayinDouro', some nice historic sights, among them the Cathedral and Sao Bento railroad station. Weather didn't cooperate to give us iconic senset over the Douro bridges. Good evening out at FC Porto futebol match.

Great little boutique hotel within old-town Porto, Portugal, convenient to many of Porto's must see charms. We were offered an unexpected junior suite upgrade upon arrival. The king bed was very comfortable, along with the robes / slippers. The artsy room decor was upbeat and inviting. The morning full breakfast buffet was delicious, as well as the expresso and coffee lattes we enjoyed on a daily basis. Very friendly professional staff, especially the helpful personalized attention received from hotel management.

Everything was perfect. It was the best hotel that I stayed in during my two-weeks holiday in Portugal. As other reviewers have mentioned, the beds are super comfortable. The location is right in the centre of Porto, within walkable distance to the main attractions. Some of Porto's best restaurants are around this hotel as well. The breakfast buffet was amazing, with berries, smoothies, tasty pastries and cakes. Everything was fresh and tasty. Special thanks to staff members for being friendly and nice.

My favorite place we stayed in all of Portugal!! The apartment was beautiful, sparkling clean and so comfortable that it was hard to leave. Rita gave us an in-depth review of Porto with many of her recommendations. The bottle of wine when we checked in and the pastel de nata hanging on our door on our last day were really sweet touches. Also, the apt is really centrally located and everything we wanted to see was in easy walking distance. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

I stayed here for 4 days at the start of my Portugal trip and loved it so much that I changed my bookings to stay here again when I came back to Porto at the end of my trip. The staff were all great people and organized several fun activities every day (sunset excursions, beach trips, beer gatdens, etc., and of course the nightly free dinners, drinking games, and bar crawl). Great atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and top-tier vibes. The best hostel experience I've had.

Everything about this hostel is amazing! The price is extremely reasonable and you even get breakfast included! - the best hostel I have ever stayed in.. it feels more like a hotel than a hostel. The hostel staff are extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. I would 10000% recommended this hostel to anyone that’s thinking of visiting Porto, Portugal. It’s located in the middle of the centre near train station, shops, restaurants and the river front!

Everything was superb; we felt welcomed and looked after form the minute we arrived. Flawless service. The best breakfast; a super-comfortable room; large bathroom; friendly staff. And when we needed extra help (laundry, flight check in problems), the hotel exceeded all expectations. Joana, Ricardo and the team are the best. We've stayed in dozens of hotels in Europe (and more than 10 in Portugal) and Infante Sagres is now our favourite.

It was an amazing experience with hotel’s quality, hospitality of staff, and stunning food taste in a restaurant. The winning pool, sauna + relaxing massage after long walking tours around the city is a MUST! The BessaHotel Baixa hotel will be my preferred one for the next time we are in Porto.

Our favourite stay of our Portugal holiday - the apartment is beautiful inside with an art deco feel to the design. We wanted to stay in the apartment for longer because of its homely and comforting feel. Sitting outside on the balcony showcases how well located the apartment is - it is in the best spot for everything Porto has to offer.

This place was awesome! We stayed at the Mayor’s Apartment for our last few nights in Porto.
