Was there for the he eclipse. Everyone was very kind bd and hospitable EXCEPT for the obnoxious behavior of the owner of our last night booking (through booking.com) of Hacienda Del Mar who refused to honor our prepaid booking , saying they didn’t rent for us boy that be night…..with no warning . (We were standing at the door at 3pm of the day of our booking

Mazatlan was the first place we visited in Mexico 25 years ago. As with all of tourist Mexico it has changed considerably. Now I live full time in another, quieter coastal area. We came to Maz this time for the eclipse. Normally, it's too crazy for us alumni of the party-hardy school and we were not disappointed.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE CITY. I DID HAVE MTY SPANISH GUIDE WITH ME FOR MOST OF MY TRIP. WITHOUT MY SPANISH GUIDE THUIS TRIP WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT VERY DIFFERENTLY FOR ME, MUCH ON THE NEAGTIVE SIDE. ALSO WHAT IS WITH THE MMEXICAN POLICEMAN IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK HOLDING TO A LOADED MACHINE ALL ABOUT? THIS GUY ALMOST LOOKED TRIGGER HAPPY. THIS GUY WAS READY TO PULL THE TIRGGER.

The Plaza Machado and Centro Histórico were out favorites. We love watching students at the music school and strolling the streets. The monthly art walk is great. It’s a genuine Mexican city with beaches. What could be better?

There were a few nice beaches and the market in old mazatlan was great. Buses were easy to get on and off and a good price.
Golden zone smells like sewage. It is busy and hardly anyone that can speak English. So loud!! It is over populated and filthy. Definitely would not recommend golden zone or the malecon. The beaches along the malecon and golden zone are gross!!! One little section in front of the marriot that is ok, otherwise run!! Best beaches are at emerald bay, deer island (grab a boat in front of holiday inn for 150 pesos return) and stone island (get a boat at the old marina for 35 pesos return)
If you want to shop, avoid the malls, Malecon and golden zone. Everything you could want is in old mazatlan and at way better prices. Research cab fares before you go. One will charge 300 and the next 800. Download uber so you have a back up way to get around.
Have fun, explore the small towns around. Glad we went, but won't go back!
proximity to restaurants, lots of coffee shops, easy walk to the Malacon. Good view of the Cathedral. easy walk to the main market. Close to Plazuela Mechado where all the action is. came during 2023 Carnaval. lots of excitement. met a great group of longtime residents who welcomed us and included us in many of the events and “happy hours”.One big happy family. “The best exotic Mazatlan hotel”. staff and Martha and her family were wonderful hosts. Every request was answered and dealt with quickly.
Mazatlán is beautiful! Nice hotel with beach front. We stayed in one of the junior suites that were quite big and with decent view to the beach. The bathroom was big and the staff friendly. The location was good in one if the best areas of Mazatlán according to people we talked to and with restaurants and bars close by (although not a shirt walk to the city center). The city felt safe at all times!
This hotel was in the middle of the action in Mazatlán! Just a few blocks to the beach, shopping and excellent restaurants. Easy walking to some great shopping and our dinner on the beach was excellent! Breakfast was included in our room rate and was very good. I would definitely stay there again.
The hotel is old Mexican charm set in the square where it all happens night and day, food and music and venders, you can't go wrong.
The staff are so friendly and the breakfast is limited but very good.
The whole place is spotless. You can walk bare foot on the tile and they are clean.
Even if the building is one of the oldest on this stretch of Mazatlán beaches and is in dire want of some new paint, the apartment is gorgeous. We only stayed one night on our way back to Mexico city, ideally, you would want to stay three days or more and relax.
Great hotel, right next to the sea! The Malecon of Mazatlan is within walking distance, just like a lot of other things (restaurants, shops). The personnel was amazing, the room was good with a nice view and there was always something to do! I loved it!
The hotel restaurant serves decent food and at a reasonable price. This is a recently constructed mid-level modern hotel. The oceanview room offers impressive views. The resort has direct access to a very beautiful part of the beach.
Most expensive, run down dump I've ever stayed in Mazatlan. I go to mazatlan 3-4 times a year and have stayed at a ton of hotels and airbnbs. Paid $1300 for two rooms for 4 nights. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
we’ve stayed at the Ibis in Mazatlán several times. the rooms are small but we’ll worth the price. I appreciate the quality, comfortable beds. The hotel is pretty quiet & easily accessible from the highway.
The resort is beautiful with a nice pool away from city and crowds of the Golden Zone of Mazatlan. This does make it more isolated for activities though...depends on what you are looking for.
