I was super fortunate to experience the local cuisine at both Oliver's Laguna Lodge and at other restaurants. A special mention MUST be made to Mr June's - absolutely the best! That along with a few others, including on the little island that one can walk to if the tide is low but there is a tiny ferry to take you across the water if the tide is higher.
The views and location are a tropical paradise on the beach, the water is magnificent, sunsets bring people together in those 15 minutes of united attention paid.
The local people are warm and accommodating, offering trinkets and snack aplenty. You can rent a scooter for the day or travel by Tuk Tuk.
There honestly isn't a night life except going to the different restaurants but be warned that their last orders are usually taken around 20h00.
Seafood and salads are the name of the game in most cuisine, Rhakine style spicy is one to try out if you are feeling adventurous.
I also have to mention the Chinese Beef Noodles at the Chinese restaurant - simple but some of the best noodles I have ever had in my life.
Alcohol may vary but fresh coconuts are absolutely sublime. If you want, most places allow corkage, so just go buy your wine at the local liquor store on the way to your restaurant.
I highly recommend trying out the smaller delicacies available at the street food vendors.
Life is an adventure at Ngapali - a little slice of heaven - without the massive crowds of other SE Asian countries.

Ngapali was a fantastic experience.
Ngapali was a fantastic experience. Long, wide, sandy beaches. Great for walks. I would have stayed longer and will definitely return. Very easy place to get around and plenty of food options available at multiple eateries. Beautiful sunsets!

Beautiful sunsets, nice and quiet beaches, it's a true paradise. We highly recommend the restaurant Two Brothers, and in second place Enjoy restaurant, both are awesome. It's a great area to finish your trip or to take a break if you're planning to travel Myanmar for long time. Relaxation is 100% guaranteed. P.S. gets a little cold on January, at least for me coming from the Caribbean it was a bit cold.

Lovely place to stay.
Lovely place to stay. We also spent an afternoon in Thandwe, checking out the market and the pagoda on the mountain top. It is probably not the best place to go snorkeling, as most of the coral reefs seem quite dead but it's nice spending time on the water.

Ngapali is a laid back beach side area.
Ngapali is a laid back beach side area. The beaches north of the airport are super clean and clear. There are some good seafood restaurants on the beach. The local fishing village south of Ngapali is a lovely place to explore. Its a true example of local life. The locals were friendly and welcoming, and happy to star in my photos. The boat trip we did was a great way to spend a day. We did some snorkelling, fishing and visited 2 private beaches. We enjoyed a seafood BBQ and some cold beers. If you don't like seafood, it may not be the best place to visit.

Try the food at Seagull restaurant on the middle beach...
Try the food at Seagull restaurant on the middle beach section (close to Yoma Cherry Lodge) and spend a day just reading on the beach watching the locals climb coconut palms and go about their fishing routines. There are only two dive shops at the moment (one owned by a non-local) and both are unfortunately quite pricey compared to the dive prices of neighboring countries (probably due to low competition/demand in this area). Go to the northern parts of Ngapali beach if you want to be away from the rich Yangon-ians and older tourists that come to the resorts every year. You don't need to spend more than three nights in the area though as boredom can set in after the second day. Not much to do other than lounge, spend money on food, and watch the glorious sunsets. Visit "Today Coffee" along the main road to have a nice, strong espresso and strong wifi if you need to get some work done.
The property was very clean and the rooms are a really decent size; having a patio is a great bonus. I didn’t have an ocean view room but my view was still wonderful due to the hotel location. I really love the hotel staff at Ngapali Win, everyone is very polite and very attentive. The staff was also super helpful in planning our full day boat trip excursion. They were able to secure a reasonable rate for us compared to other options that charge much higher prices for foreigners.
The location (about the Northern tip of Ngapali beach), the easy access to the sea (just a few steps from the bedroom door), the restaurant (tasty local and international food, located on a roofed terrace with a view dominating the whole beach), the room (offering all one may need, including access to a free and very good wifi), the staff (always smiling and very willing to assist).
Comfortable hotel, friendly and helpful staff and (on MM standards) quite good WiFi. It is my second stay in Rivertop and I am sure I will come again. I like the way the hotel is built, that there is good balance of sunshine and shadow for most of the day - we didn't need to use aircon for most of our stay, which is good for the planet and for the time when there's no power :)
Blissful!!
Our stay at Lake View was fantastic.
The hotel itself is amazing. Comfortable, tasteful in design, amazing view, good breakfast and located in the the lush vegetation. Everything eco-friendly.
But what made our experience above the top was our hosts Ute, Frank and their team. Treated us like a family.
Recommended 100% and we would definitely stay here again.
Location was great, service & food was wonderful & plentiful. Khine & her staff were delightful. Ocean view room at Lagoon @ Ngapali for 5 nights was exactly what I needed. Min Min, a local of Thandwe/Ngapali is a perfect resource to seeing the area. Absolute rest & relaxation at Lagoon. Highly recommend & I will definitely be returning!
Breakfast was great (available pure coffee and fresh foods) and foreigners especially from europians will love their location as sea is really closed with hotel.
As this resort is for the purpose of Eco, I really love the idea of their location and things (like they use solar enegry and they plant alot of tree for shades and safety).
Everything is perfect. The best thing I like in this guesthouse is super super clean even though there are many people visited the beach, and kind staff, very warm host. They have amazing garden view and a lot of places you can take a rest during holiday and outside shower room also nice! Breakfast also is really good and enough.
Lovely garden and traditional wooden house. Nearby the beach but keeps the tranquility. There are several corners where you can sit back, relax and read books. Miss Paivi is a great host, very caring, kind and always available. I felt being at home. Excellent breakfast and smiling/attentive staff.
The room was great, the staff really accommodating. The facilities are well maintained and the location is great in the middle of the street near other restaurants and hotels, plus great access to the beach.
The bar and food where really 👍🏼
Just like the 1990s. More like a temporary home than a resort. Excellent food. Ocean front rooms have are just 10m from where the waves break at high tide. Service is VERY laid back (just the way it is supposed to be a place like Ngapali).
We were the only guests in this wonderful resort on the New Year celebration, so all the hotel amenities were at our disposal. This was because tourists were afraid of war in Myanmar. However, in Thandwe, where we stayed, it was safe.
It was a second time I stayed in Virgin Beach this year and it became one of my favourite hotels in Ngapali. I like the rooms, the location and the staff is super friendly and helpful. It's great value for money.
The beach villas are in proximity of a clean beach and very close to the water. Other hotels at the waterfront are far from the water. Another advantage, there are no stones in the water facing the resort.
The hotel team is the friendliest, humblest, sincerest hotel team I have ever seen. Loved every second I spent at this wonderful place.
People are gonna show you how to treat others ❤️
Staff was kind and caring. They helped us with bicycle rentals, motorbike rentals, and a boat tour. The property is clean and the beach chairs are so comfortable.
It's a very beautiful beach, right in front of the hotel, it was exceptionally clean, the decoration is gorgeous and the staff is very nice and well trained.
