The room (family room with tatami area) is generously spacious, with an amazing onsen facility next door. I love that guests can change into traditional outfits and walk around the hotel wearing them. The staffs are helpful and kind. I am grateful to one of the reviewers here who mentioned that the hotel is accessible from Hotel Okada via an elevator. This saved us from having to walk up the steep hill every time we wanted to go to and from the hotel. The shuttle to Hakone Yumoto station was also a great addition.

Great value for money considering that you have access to the onsen at the main building, which is excellent. The public open air bath has a lovely view and on both occasions that I used it, I was the only person hence it felt like a private bath. The room is small but it works well for a solo traveller. Hotel is very close to the Yumoto station, just less than 5 minutes away. The staff are all very helpful and fluent in English.

a wonderful ryokan in traditional Japanese style, incredible breakfasts and dinners that will delight you! very friendly hosts, cozy room. I had a room with a private onsen and it was a great stay. The hotel also has a shared onsen, but I found the water in it hotter than in the private one. The calm, surreal and breathtaking view of the lake, which makes up for the distance that the hotel is located from the Hakone town (about 20 mins drive).
