I had the pleasure of staying at Árnanes Country Hotel, a family-owned gem that immediately felt like home. What made my visit truly special was the warm hospitality of the owners. They generously shared insights into fascinating, off-the-beaten-path destinations that I would have never discovered otherwise. These unique recommendations added so much depth to my exploration of the surrounding area.
The relaxed vibe extended to the morning routine as well. I appreciated the flexibility around breakfast times—there was no rush, and I could enjoy my morning meal even if arriving at the end of the schedule, savoring it without feeling hurried. This laid-back approach contributed significantly to the overall feeling of comfort and ease during my stay.
My accommodation was a charming little house entirely constructed from wood, with thoughtful and attractive decorations that created a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The eating area followed suit, adorned with vintage decorations and decorative natural flowers, making every meal feel special.
Having a parking spot right next to my house added an extra layer of convenience, simplifying my daily excursions. While the accommodation didn’t offer dinner during my stay due to the low season, this turned out to be a hidden blessing. It led me to explore the nearby city of Hofn, where I discovered some fantastic restaurants for my evening meals.
In summary, my stay at Árnanes Country Hotel was nothing short of delightful, thanks to the incredible warmth of the owners, the beauty of the surroundings, and the comfort of my accommodation.
I left feeling refreshed and grateful for the experience.

The room was very comfortable. The beds were cozy. The owners and staff were all very friendly. The shared kitchen was well equipped, very clean, and I was a big fan of the free coffee. It is in a great location in Hofn, everything within the city is in walking distance. We had a wonderful view of the Northern Lights from Hofn too.

Very quaint and QUIET seaport town. A lot of the restaurants and bars were closed during my stay but was able to go to 1 of them which was lovely. It's a very far east part of Iceland I recommend going to, even if it is for 1 night.

Gem! This was worth the extra drive to visit. Honestly it was my favorite part of Iceland. Rugged beauty without the long line of tourist buses to contend with. Stokksnes Beach is a hidden gem at sunrise!

The Berjaya in Höfn is in a wonderful position with the harbour on one side and a view out across the water to the glaciers and the west on the other. It is also easy walking distance to all the local bars and restaurants.

Hofn is a lovely town in SE Iceland.
Hofn is a lovely town in SE Iceland. It has numerous, easy walking paths thru town and around their waterfront including a golf course with views that I think rival those of the finest courses in the world. Not a golfer, but if I were, this is a place I would want to play. It was spectacular. The views of the glacier were outstanding. There were several good restaurants, lobster is a local specialty. There are nature and art trails along the waterfront and a number of good historical exhibits. Wished we could have spent more time here. It felt like a vibrant, fully functioning community that I would have liked to explore more.

it was one of the most expensive stay on our 12 days trips.
it was one of the most expensive stay on our 12 days trips. The room did not match the pricing.
There were not microwave nor toaster nor any other means to warm up any food. Only one working chair in the room.
It was clean, but not worth the price.

Unlike tourist traps in the USA, Hofn is a marine village built to accommodate itself throughout the seasons. It's a place to relax, take in the fresh air, and chill. Its natural beauty is more than enough.
Seljavellir Guesthouse has the best value for money we encountered in Iceland. Considering the price we paid, the room was HUGE, had a great shower/toilet room and the bed was very large and comfortable.
The view was AMAZING, as the room has glass windows and a glass door, letting us see parts of the Vatnajökull glacier straight from bed.
Check in was silky smooth as our key was simply waiting for us in the lobby, and communicating with the host was very easy over the phone.
Beautiful location - newer facilities. Our room was on the second floor with a view to the glacier. Room is very well appointed with separate areas for shower, toilet and sink and partially heated floor . Service was excellent. A special shout-out goes to the bartender gal who took the time to give us an overview on Iceland beer, liquors, gin & whisky. And be sure to catch the happy hour !
We spent 8 days in Iceland and this accommodation was by far our favourite (however we spent only one night there). Nice, new, clean & cozy rooms with enough space for 4 of us. Well equipped kitchen with basic products like tea, coffee, oil etc available. No luck with Northern Lights but anyway I wish we stayed longer!
Breakfast was great, the best we had in Iceland! The menu selection (in addition to the great buffet) was cool.
Location-wise, the hotel is a bit far from Hofn (if you want additional selection of restaurants), but the hotel has a restaurant as well. The view to the glacier is great.
The room was modern and clean.
We loved this guesthouse, it felt very relaxed and chilled out, and we felt very at home there. It's in a convenient location for driving around the South and East coast of Iceland. I particularly liked the personal touches to the house and the sheep pictures on the wall!
Best hotel of our trip, clean and comfortable, great view.. Would recommend to get dinner there, it is not too expensive, it was the only time in Iceland we got the same or better quality of food as you would get in Germany for the same price. Breakfast was above par too.
Great location, wonderful small (only two guest rooms) guesthouse, with a very nice breakfast and a wonderful hostess. She had excellent information on things to do in the area and was a wealth of general Icelandic knowledge and a delight to talk to. Highly recommend.
The location was perfect, the views splendid. We were greeted by Icelandic horses, who were "waiting" for us right next to our cabin. My son loved the bunk bed. We couldn't have asked for a better location, halfway between Höfn and Jökulsárlón. Highly recommended!!
Clean hotel. Breakfast was good standard Iceland fare: eggs, yogurt, bread, fruit, meats...ect. pretty setting with trees. Very rural with not much around, but we only stayed one night and didn't get a chance to find anywhere to eat nearby or do much.
Everything we encountered in your town met our best expectations. The only little disappointment was the lack of choices for breakfast. We would definitely recommend your facility to others we know that might travel to Iceland.
My second time staying at the Milk Factory. Still one of my favorite stays on a trip through Iceland. Easy check-in, check-out experience. Family room is great value. Breakfast is plenty. Friendly and helpful staff.
Everything was perfect! Absolutely beautiful views, super comfortable room and the host was so friendly. We loved meeting the dogs too! It was such a special place and one of my favorite accommodations in Iceland.
It's a hotel, so all the usual hotel stuff. Welcoming staff, all very polite. Everything in Iceland is expensive, so nothing new there. The rooms was small, but I did pick the "Economy double" so no complaints.
the location is good at Hofn. the kitchen is super well equipped and clean and dinning area is good with books of introductioin of Iceland. the shared bathroom is acceptable and clean, good for solo traveler.
So clean and comfortable. Very well stocked kitchen with an espresso machine. Perfect location near the harbor. My favorite guesthouse we stayed at in Iceland!
The style of the hotel was an Icelandic winner..The view from. The large picture window was incredible. Location right on Ring road was convenient for travel.
Inga was a terrific host and shared a great deal of information about Iceland and the farm with us. The rooms were great and the breakfast was excellent.
