Kalabaka is a city with traditional houses and Meteora is very close. You can visit some of the monasteries. We went to the museum of physical history with animals and birds that lived there, which was very nice, to the mushroom museum and to the digital projection center of Meteora's history and culture. The food also was excellent.

The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal.
The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal. The Byzantine art and the historic architecture elevate the soul. I was fortunate enough to half ten minutes alone in the chapels of both the Varlaam and Holy Trinity monasteries in between the flow of tourists and found it to be peaceful and prayerful. The natural scenery of the area, including the sunsets, has no equal anywhere I have been, and watching the sun change the colors of the rocks and the monastery buildings as it set in the west was truly amazing. Kalabaka is a bit built up and a mile or two further away from the rocks. Stay in Kastraki for a really Greek village experience.

Kalambaka is an interesting small town with many restaurants, gift shops, souvenirs shops. But the main attractions are the mountaintop monasteries from the 14-15th century that seem to float as you look up.
Taking a tour is very helpful because you get the history of the area and the monasteries, and you do not have to concentrate on driving.
Don’t forget to visit the Natural History Museum and the Mushroom Museum housed together. We have such respect for mushrooms now!

Upon arrival, the front desk gave some recommendations for a great restaurant, The Taverna to Paramithi. The food was great, (don't mind the cats) the live music was warm and generous. The bakeries were stellar. The e-bike rental shop on Ioanninon St. was a good find.

Beautiful views, you can either walk around by foot (including hiking to all monasteries in area) or take guided tour. There's also climbing area. Food is delicious. Perfect choice for 2-3 days trip to escape from city.
The Dellas Boutique Hotel is a true gem. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed; the beds are comfortable and the air-conditioning functions well; and most importantly, the views are spectacular -- my room opened up to a patio with a view of Meteora while my companions' room had a terrace and a beautiful view of the expansive valley below. The breakfast was my favorite of my entire trip (their Greek yogurt was outstanding) and the staff was accommodating and thoughtful, even gifting us a magnet of Meteora to remember our visit.
One of the friendliest staff that I encountered. Hotel staff went out of the way to make us feel at home. Always smiling. Always checking to see how they can make our stay even better.
Rooms are very well equipped and the beds are very comfortable.
Hotel has too much character. It is filled with Greek statues and feels like living in a beautiful museum.
Good free breakfast.
Hotel is centrally located in the town center and close to all the monasteries.
Highly recommend this place. Must stay place in Meteora
This is a very clean, comfortable, stylish family-run pension hotel, very short walking distance to several excellent taverna restaurants, and with views of some of the Meteora rock formations and Orthodox monasteries. A short drive to the main roads that lead to the monasteries. We had a very comfortable room with a shaded balcony, table and chairs. Also, an excellent continental breakfast each morning in the front sitting room.
we stayed for a day and it was perfect . great location down the city just before you take the road for the monasteries .
we could see the rocks from our balcony and also from the terrace that was open all the time .
very clean and comfortable. I have to say that from all the apartments and hotels I ve stayed in Greece , it had the best shower !so important !
the staff was really kind and friendly.
I totally recommend it !
Excellently located in a beautiful spot of Kalambaka, having a magnificent view to Meteora, Theatro Hotel is a really cute place to be. Inspired by legendary movies, each room is nicely decorated and personalized, that makes it even cuter. Breakfast is rich and changes every day with many local delights. The beautiful mountains area with the monasteries is only 5 minutes driving. Strongly recommended.
Really friendly, toast, and amazing local dinner! The view from the balcony is spectacular in the morning and we stayed for extra night looking forward to coming back after our walk during the day. The hotel is on the sunrise side of Meteora and the morning sunlight on the rocks is magical.
The hotel is in centre of Kastraki and close to Monastery of Saint Nicholas. It's very convenient for a hike or sightseeing in Meteora. It has a private parking. The owner was really kind. The room is as in the photo, clean and well equipped with air-conditioner and heating if you need.
- Very friendly staff, special mention to Gina who went out of her way to help with tour bookings and her overall hospitality
- Central location, close to restaurants, bars and shops
- Room with an uninterrupted view of Meteora was a bonus
- Will recommend this hotel to others
This small hotel has a feeling of luxury, with views from our room of the majestic rock formations that make Meteora irresistible to tourists. The little extras, like in-room coffee and high-quality bed linens helped my husband and I enjoy our brief stay at this property.
One of the most lovely hotels we’ve ever stayed in! Beautiful setting, excellent breakfast, wonderful staff… you truly feel cared for as a guest here. It’s a perfect base for seeing the Meteora monasteries as well. We will definitely be back again someday!

The Grand Meteora is located very close to the magnificent monasteries! The staff was just amazing- responsive to each and every question! If you’re traveling to Greece, in this area, there isn’t a better option to stay!
Amazing view, great location. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Great value for price. The breakfast was also great and the host that welcomed us was very nice and helped us plan our trip for Meteora :)
Perfect location, really close to the starting path of the trails to Meteora mountains. Small parking for free without reservation in front of the hotel. The views fron the room were amazing.
The service is very warm, personal and welcoming. A great hotel for a small price. Not only that I recommend it, but if I ever visit Greece and Meteora again Im sure to return to this hotel.
