Super crowded. The sand is not pink. It's a normal sand. The beach resorts are expensive, usually they are full and the chairs are attached. On top of that, you need to walk 20 minutes to reach the sea.

Breathtaking natural lagoon which everyone is coming to enjoy. Get here before the buses arrive at 10 am or come after 4pm when buses leave otherwise I think it is too crowded. Consider staying overnight at Lafo Rooms.

Elafonisi Beach, with its unique pink sand, is undeniably stunning. However, during the day it can become extremely crowded, making it challenging to find sunbeds. Nevertheless, as the day transitions into evening, the beach becomes quiet, serene, and free from crowds, allowing you to fully appreciate its true beauty, especially during the magical moments just before sunset.

What a ZOO!!!
What a ZOO!!! It’s mid October and the place is still super crowded. Cannot even begin to imagine the crowds in July or August.
Crowds aside… it is an amazing place… beautiful, clear water.. great for young families. One can find a bit of privacy across the water on the spot.

A truly beautiful beach, the nicest I have visited in Crete...
A truly beautiful beach, the nicest I have visited in Crete so far. It is also a very valuable and protected natural site. The beach offers a very varied environment. There is classic seating on the shore under umbrellas and bars. Towards the sea you can enjoy the shallow beach and the sea waves. On the other side there is a quiet shallow lagoon with several islets and a sand spit connecting the coast with the island of Elafonisi. The lagoon is just a paddle away. If you go further, the other side of the island is again washed by the sea and there is also quite a nice snorkeling environment. Because of the size and ruggedness of the place, you can easily find a space for yourself. But there are a lot of people. There is little shade on the spot, so the more experienced ones will occupy the better spots first thing in the morning. It's good to have something to protect you from the sun. You have to go back to the beginning for drinks and toilets, so count on that. Plenty of space to park on site, just the last stretch is not a groomed road so watch your tyres.
The area and Smaroula were so quaint and quiet, restaurants excellent. Gregory was very nice, attentive and welcoming! The price was very good. The Smaroula is walking distance to restaurants and mini marts, and the lagoon, which is GORGEOUS! I wish it was a bit warmer water so I could have a swim, but it was only May. The Smaroula is just 5 min drive from Elofonisi Beach which we loved, and was the whole reason for going!
Location near the beach (300m), you can go there by foot.
The room was big ( 40 m²), with all that was needed, even a small kitchen with oven and microwave oven.
The room had beeen restaured not a long time ago, very clean.
The view from the parking covers all the Elafonisi Beach which is beautiful
Some restaurants nearby, one on the location, others at about 2 kms , a car is a plus

About the room, it was very clean, the bed was small and very noisy and the products for hand washing and showering could be better.
Anyway, I really liked the place with the facilities and host. If I went to the region in the future I would probably stay there again.
The location is perfect to explore the Elefonisi area.
Elafonisi beach is ok, but is a tourist trap. We went to some other beaches nearby that were awesome.
A few good restaurants close by, and a mini market with some essentials. The pool was great, actually, the pool and location are the only good things about this property.
We loved our stay here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with excellent outdoor areas. The views from the room are beautiful. We loved the area, a few nice tavernas near by and some lovely little walks around. Elafonisi beach is just 5 mins down the road. Drive down early to beat the buses!
The staff at kochilas was friendly and accommodating! The rooms are quaint and small but it's no problem because if you're booking a room near elafonisi beach, you probably will spend all of your time at the beach! I'd also recommend visiting white lake too.
We liked the location in an isolated part of Crete but a short drive to an amazing beach (Elafonisi). The house is airy, with nice sunsets and the sound of cicadas in the olive trees. Very relaxing. The wifi worked fine and the kitchen had what we needed.
It was very clean and all newly renovated.. Check in at the Mini market was friendly and handy for buying a picnic for the beach. The location was good for walking to the beach and the parking was excellent . The price Mae it very attractive.

The room was very comfortable, clean, and had everything that we needed. The location is superb, very close to the beautiful beach of Elafonisi and the restaurants of the Vila. The hostess was really nice and super friendly.
It was like having a natural air-condition. Very close to Elafonisi and Kedrodasos beach. Very friendly host. He agreed to keep our luggages after the check-out so we can pick them in the evening.
We liked the location - very closed to the beach. The room/bathroom looked to be new - AC working very well. The view from the garden is amazing, full of fruits and flowers and an outdoor shower.
Location is awesome, you can be at the beach before anyone else so that is great! There are 3-4 restaurants and one of them is right next to the rooms, so it's very convenient.
