While I only had the chance to stay one night at the Los Cielos del Caribe hotel in Cahuita, Limon, it was a stay I truly enjoyed and won’t soon forget. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the owner and host, Tristam, made the stay all that much better. Situated on a hill in a lovely town, this hotel is a newer build with quality in mind. My 2-story room with king size bed was perfect – the AC worked great, the bed and linens were luxurious, the kitchen had everything I needed, and the view was just unbeatable. Plus, if you are a fan of nature, the location doesn’t get any better. There is a path to walk up to a lookout point at the top of the hill where you can enjoy a morning coffee while listening and watching the groups of howler monkeys – much closer here than anywhere else I visited. On the path you’ll find cool anoles and dart frogs and sloths too if you are good at spotting them in the trees. The pool and hot tub were amazing and there was a deck with a grill for afternoon cookouts. There are only a few rooms for rent, so you kind of feel a bit like family while you’re there. Tris made me a delicious breakfast with white guava juice and even added maraschino cherries to my beautifully sliced banana – a pure delight! He was also very helpful with my luggage because the hill is quite steep – and just really the nicest host I’ve encountered in a very long time. You can tell he loves this place and sharing it with guests – and rightfully so because it's simply a slice of heaven on earth. If you get the chance, definitely make Los Cielos a part of your Costa Rican adventure!

We liked the lodge a lot, that it’s in the wilderness walking distance to Cahuita National Park, the beach, and the restaurants in Cahuita. The head of the staff was Gaia and she was very nice and efficient. We also liked the pool and the breakfast and the fact that for a nominal fee they did our wash and dried it.

The hotel is very close to the sea (beach is s bit farther away) und has the restaurants in walking distance. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly (despite not speaking English). There is a shared kitchen. The parking is on the property with some shade for your car.

Location was excelent!!! Located in the middle of the town: walking distance from the national park, restaurants, and the little port where the boat tours depart from. One block away from the main street. Also located in a not very crowded nor loud block. Also, we did not expect a kitchen with a fridge to use. That saved us a lot of money in restaurants. WIFI worked well and covered entire property. The hotel met our expectations according to the price I paid. Staff was super friendly. I would stay here again and again.

The tour in the park was excellent, the town is laid with things easily found we had good restraunts and ths services were freindly and helpful.
The biggest drawback is the lack of bancos atimatico that works better
The line was long and many people had to repeat the sequence of instructions to get anything yet the hotels asked for cash only. Very frustrating and scary if you didn't bring enough dollars or colony s
The grocey store delived groceries a nd took a credit card. We had such a lai back experience.

Cahuita is a laid back town at the edge of Cahuita National Park. It is seeming in wildlife. You don't even have to enter the park to see the wildlife. We saw huge green iguana, common black hawk, families of capuchin, howler and spider monkeys, green basilisk, agoutis, herons, kingfishers - all outside the park. Inside the park we saw sloths, eyelash vipers, frigate birds and raccoons in addition to the other animals we saw outside. Beaches are pristine and nice to swim in. The neighboring town of Puerto Viego was another laid back village by the sea. A tranquil place to visit!

Cahuita was a friendly small community that showed so much love to us! Conventiently located near a beautiful beach, Playa Negro, and the food was fabulous. Lobster picked straight from the tank to our plate--delicious! Chef Doria at Caribbean Soul Taste was a joy and her food was just as amazing. Stopping at her restaurant is a must if you are in Cahuita. Another must is the Cahuita Nacional Park. We saw groups of monkeys and sloths and even a blue morpho butterfly in the park--and it's free! Would return to Cahuita in a heartbeat!

Cahuita has become crowded with tourists hoping to see the wildlife in the National Park, when you have so many tourists in the park it is difficult to view the animals because they just aren’t there, the wildlife will move deeper into the rainforest to escape the gaze of humans!!

Our hosts were outstanding offering suggestions about local attractions, and local foods. The kitchen and dining facilities were very good. When one of our group had a minor medical issue our hosts arranged a home visit by a local doctor, imagine that!.
Downtown is a pleasant 20 walk away.
We would like to upgrade our rating from a 9 to a 10, please.
This is a solid choice in Cahuita. Alberto the host is a super friendly stand up guy who comes with homemade breakfast every morning and never hesitated to help out and give good advise. He even called the airline for us to talk to them in Spanish when our bag was lost. The houses are simple but clean and cosy. We saw sloths nearby, hummingbirds and butterflies in the garden and heard the howler monkeys all the time. Close to a nice beach that is good for walks in the mornings and also a great restaurant within walking distance.
I chose Secret Garden because of the location. It’s close to everything I wanted to do in Cahuita. I felt secure as there were 2 locks between my room and the outside of the grounds, as long as I kept my door closed. The room was comfortable while the door was open and there were functioning fans.
The bathroom was adequate in size so I didn’t feel cramped, but not sure how it would’ve felt if there were actually 4 people sharing the room, as there were beds for 4. The shower was large and always hot water.
Amazing hostel. We stayed in a capsule pod & it was so well kitted out. Clean, comfy & had everything we needed for a night. The showers are the BEST showers we’ve ever used at a hostel. They have jets, warm water and strong pressure. Nice kitchen / chill out area and loads of info on what to do in Cahuita. 10/10 - this hostel deserves to have way higher ratings!!
The pool was amazing! The bed was very comfy and I liked the small terrace, we had dinner and breakfast there, we saw frogs, grasshoppers, hummingbirds and even caterpillars by our room and by the pool, it was beautiful. The gardens were very pretty and it's quite close to downtown Cahuita. The restaurant across the street is delicious.
Johssie was very welcoming and a helpful host who made sure to check that our stay was comfortable and helped if we needed anything. The place is walkable to everything in Cahuita, on the quiet end of town, and very close to Playa Negra. The kitchen had enough cookware to make the basics, and the internet allowed me to work remotely.
we were stunned
beautiful lush gardens full of flowers and animals (poison dart frogs, birds, iguanas...) and a wonderfully set pool with bungalows arranged around it and in the garden.
perfect location, really close to playa negra, and not far from cahuita national park
safe private car park
delicious breakfast
Erina and Matheo created a real paradise! The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished and everything was clean and nice!
They were very helpful and even do a free shuttle to the entrance of the Cahuita national park for their guests. I absolutely can recommend El colibri rojo and would definitely return!
Ive visited CR many times since 1985 and this was my BEST STAY EVER.QUIET away from the crowds now in Cahuita but close . Staff is wonderful helpful and it is very clean. Highly recommend.wildlife every morning..monkeys parrots tucans iguanas lizzards..Saw no snakes. They have two dogs on patrol.
The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable! The best pillows in Costa Rica. It is located at the entrance of Cahuita National Park and close to restaurants and grocery. Jose is very knowledgeable of the area and helpful with anything a guest might need.
The property is in walking distance to the city center and Cahuita Nationalpark. Right across the street is a great breakfast spot. Just a few steps away from the beach. It was great to have air conditioning and that we could park our car inside the property.
The hosts are the nicest couple we have met in Costa Rica! They also gave us a coconut to drink when we left the lodge.
They bungalows are nice equipped, clean and lovely. We loved the hammock.
If I will come back to Cahuita I will book the Lodge again.
By far the best hotel we stayed in in Costa Rica, great value for money. The host Daniele went absolutely above and beyond for us during our stay, helping with recommendations and organising transport and food for us.
The hosts are very friendly and informative of things to do in Cahuita. Room was big and very clean. Had AC and a TV. We only stayed 1 night as we were just passing through but highly recommended this place.
As much as I loved Cahuita, this hotel was the worst we stayed in during our travels around Costa Rica. The only thing I liked was the courtyard and use of the kitchen and really lovely and helpful staff.
I enjoyed stay at this place. The location is convenient, a few minutes from bus terminal, a bank, Main Street and the Cahuita national park. The owners are really nice, friendly and helpful:)
it was located close to the entrance to Cahuita national park, on the beach. It also had a small pool and parking. The breakfast was generously sized and tasty
Great location. Right next to Atlantic Corridor 36 and Route 256, close to Cahuita, Puerto Viejo and Bribri. The hosts are very welcoming and nice people.
