FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

The CBD and Southbank areas are great spots to wander and shop. The heritage locations and grand older buildings are great to take in. Eating out was enjoyable in the venues we experienced. Getting around is easy whether by public transport, taxi or walking. Just to have the time to experience a new location and take in what is on offer should be enjoyable fun for any age group. The pedestrian bridges across the river are a great initiative.

Brisbane had an awesome vibe everywhere. ...maybe a system like the Gold Coast with a bike rider and the back cart thing to transport couples families etc would be a more environmentally friendly approach. Was a bit sad to see so many e scooters being neglected . LOVED ALL THE NEW E SCOOTER PATHS BEING IMPLEMENTED....Would be nice if a family could hire them and feel totally safe to travel around explore everything together. And some more led digital advertising information stands to help guide and advise of events /destinations/ activities/adventures. The option of a city cat to the Sunshine Coast would really rock the world and to rock my dreams....the option of a sky gondola over the beaches to the city would be SO MUCH MORE FUN AND FAR FAR BETTER VIEWS. Mobile eateries and/or uber delivers for travvellers . A information service at ALL entries and exits to help travellers and Qld transport communicate better. A kids cart so the can play on long trips and more toilets. Little entertainment, movies, comedy shows, talent shows/basking for travellers entertainment. As well as REAL QUIET CARRIAGES options. Must have charging port holes for phones. Chairs back to back in the middle of trains would allow for scenic viewing and has alot more benefits. Led lightening at stops to help with attracting good vibes/energy, safety and visual and social interaction for each location.. Omg!!!!! Sorry, thank you, let's play again lol

A wonderful city with top-class academic facilities, a beautiful setting on the river, excellent public water transport, contemporary designs that match the historic fabric of well-preserved sites, and then, the South Bank with is pool, restaurants and trendy vibe, and flying foxes at sunset - a great treat! Travel to the Glass House mountains, Montville and down to the Sunshine Coast on a day trip. I hope to return there soon!

I only visit Brisbane for particular sporting or cultural events and it is good for that. It is not that easy to move around the city and suburbs due to a lack of any consistency in planning and transport infrastructure. The State government negatively impacts by shutting down rail services on weekends regardless of the fact there is a massive event on. Ignorance being in greater motion than the 100s of trains standing idle. If not visiting for a particular event or to visit family, you could easily give this city a swerve as it offers little that can't be obtained elsewhere - head to one of the coasts instead.

Lucid apartments are in an ideal location for visiting Brisbane. There are many cafes and restaurants near. It was ideal: just across the road from Southbank Cultural Centre (Museum, Library, Art Galleries) . It's also a quick walk across the bridge to Queen Street and the city centre. We rented two apartments to accommodate the whole family, both had lovely views and balconies. The two bedroom one was shabby, the upholstery on the settee was very grubby. The one bedroom apartment was spacious, well maintained and very comfortable.

The pool area was fantastic. The location was great. 5 minute walk to free ferry. Quiet spot but close to city. Parking was also cheaper than cbd apartments. We had a one bedroom unit at the back of the complex that overlooked the pool. The apartment was spacious with a large balcony. We booked this apartment because of the affordable price compared to the city. It was a quick walk to the river to view the fireworks display.
