The owner of this hotel and his family are very nice and helpful. Although it is chilly outside, they keep us comfortable inside. They also assist to arrange transportation for us.

This intimate, welcoming lodge is the passion project of Don Mario and Mama Lea, both born and raised right here in the Uros community. They sustain their small floating island by harvesting reeds from the lake and by running this remarkable B&B with care, pride, and generosity. Mornings are magical. Sunrise over the lake is exquisite, the water often perfectly still, and the birdlife abundant. We found ourselves slowing down completely — reading books, braving the cold lake waters during the warmest part of the day, and playing cards together in the cozy dining hut. The peace here is profound. Don Mario offers a two-hour boat tour through the village, guiding guests through the reed beds while explaining how generations of Uros have used these reeds to cook, build, and navigate the lake they hold sacred. It was deeply moving and fascinating to learn about a way of life that feels both ancient and fragile, yet still very much alive. Both Mario and Lea are also gifted artisans. Don Mario creates drawings that beautifully capture the lake and its culture, while Mama Lea transforms these designs into pillow covers, table runners, and wall hangings that are truly lovely and meaningful keepsakes. A few practical notes: the showers are gravity-fed and solar-heated, which means lower water pressure and the hottest water in the late afternoon. The midday sun is intense, so wide-brimmed hats and sunscreen are essential. Finally, a word about Uros itself. Before arriving, I read many reviews dismissing the islands as a tourist trap rather than a genuine community. While tourism clearly plays an important role in the local economy, it is equally clear that this is a real, living community with deep roots. The Uros have existed here for countless generations, passing down knowledge, skills, and craftsmanship. They are skilled fishermen and masters of using reeds for nearly everything imaginable.

They did everything to make our stay perfect. One of the best parts of our trip to Peru. The food is fantastic and the trips on the lake were wonderful and Juan told us all about life on the lake for the Uros people. We don’t want to leave. Sunny during the day and cold at night. The comfiest beds with loads of blankets and hot water bottles.

Situated in Puno, Titicaca Aruntawi Lodge Peru offers accommodation with views of the lake, and breakfast included every day. Eddy and his family are very friendly. Our room was perfect. There was even warm water in the shower, which I didn't expect. We did a 2 hours Uros tour with Eddy. The tour was very interesting, we were at the local school as well as at local families and we totally recommend booking this tour! Moreover, we borrowed a kayak from Eddy and were kayaking. The nights are pretty cold on those islands, but you get very warm blankets and warming bottles. It was an amazing experience to learn more about Uros people and Lake Titikaka. We also recommend to try the lunch/dinner. It's very delicious.

It is not just a place for the night stay, It is a new lifestyle. A totally different one from everything I have lived before. book with an open mind, and give trust to Felix and his family. He made us feel comfortable and shared his life with us. The toilet is camper style and there is the shower with hot water available, it is not a hotel shower, but it is incredible how they have managed to create such commodities for tourists using the lake water (which is precious to them, they drink it) There is also drinking water for guests, tea and muna, breakfast and.. shampoo! and everything you could need for your stay, plus Felix was very responsive if we had any specific needs we could communicate in advance. There were many blankent available. We got the chance to meet his family who all worked to make the stay enjoyable for us. We had a blast, he was very kind to offer us the boat ride, and took us to our tour location and made all the arrangments. He also booked us the taxi which took us from the station to the meeting point. a Very very memorable stay! I wish I had stayed more, could relax and enjoy the views and being taken care of by them! I wish we had more chances to spend time with his wife and son over dinner or breakfast for an immersive experience. Many hugs!
