What a fun and funky little hotel. I am so glad we discovered this gem while visiting nearby Great Basin National Park! The room was large and had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We also loved the on site Mexican restaurant and the gift shop and coffee shop were really great too! All the staff were very friendly and we had a wonderful stay.

Like most 100-year-old hotels the rooms were a little small, however, they brought up the rooms to modern standards with all the conveniences. I enjoyed my stay very much. I will be back.

Great breakfast choices. Overall the hotel was totally adequate.
Our room and building was ok. The jacuzzi wasn’t working.
Our room and building was ok. The jacuzzi wasn’t working. The front office staff said they were “waiting on a part,” put it was said in a very unsure and unbelievable way. Our friends, however (both in their 70’s), were given a room in a separate building on the second floor WITHOUT AN ELEVATOR!!! Not cool, La Quinta. Not cool. Plus, the sink was clogged, and it took an hour to get a plumber to show up!

Front desk was very accommodating. Room was clean.
Front desk was very accommodating. Room was clean. Everything worked. Apparently the hotel is upgrading some rooms. This room didn't have a microwave but we asked the front desk and she brought us one immediately.

Ely is a small town with very friendly people.
Ely is a small town with very friendly people. There are multiple hotels to stay in, each with a slot casino. The town seems to roll up around 8pm but the casinos are 24/7 and resturants within them stay open a bit later.
The Great Basin national park is about an hour away and this would be where you would want to stay if you are visiting there as the town of Baker, where the park is located is very very small with only 1 shop and no gas station.
We came for the Northern Nevada Railroad experience and my dad drove a steam and deisel engine train there. This is a museum as well. The railway is truly the town's gem.
If you come for the railroad experience, take a day to drive to the National Park, and make sure you also visit the White Pine Museum if you like small county museums.
The people of Ely were all very kind and genuinely nice.
If you are just roadtripping the loneliest highway(Hwy 50) and drive through Ely, make a stop and check out the historical Hotel Nevada.

I love Ely, this is my 4th stay.
I love Ely, this is my 4th stay. I have always had a memorable experience. One thing I wish I could have enjoyed was the new art gallery and Mercantile downtown. We arrived after they closed and left before they opened. So cool hearing the train blow its whistle as it chugged through town as well. On a former trip we visited the White Pine museum and it far exceeded our expectations. Worth a stop, for sure!

Best place to stay in ely is the Pioneer and la Quinta.
Best place to stay in ely is the Pioneer and la Quinta. Really good food options here, I suggest margaritas inside pioneer for Mexican food and good friendly service. Nardis unfortunately closed... and the local restaurants are pretty good like Piccadilly pizza and the local steakhouse. The art museum and the connected store is a fun visit, the thrift stores are charming, highly suggest coming between fri-sat.
We were very pleased with the location of the Motel and the size and cleanliness of the rooms and the property. Although the impression that staying in a motel is not as nice a hotel, Bristlecone Motel has been one of the nicer places we have stayed. We will definitely be visiting Ely, Nevada again and will be staying at the Bristlecone. Also, we traveled with our small dog and she was welcome on the property. Overall, our stay exceeded our expectations.
The staff are very accommodating and friendly, the room was lovely and quiet (on the back of the hotel) and the bed was comfortable. The hotel has masses of (recent) history with many nods to the past, both in the casino and lining the corridors to the rooms (and in some of the rooms themselves). Breakfast was good as it was via a Denny’s voucher which entitled you to a basic ‘slam’ and a coffee, or $5 off any item. I’d happily stay there again.
Clean, comfortable and exceptionally dog friendly! The room had dog bed, bowl and biscuits. The dog wing had dog artwork and the rest of the hotel was like a western museum. The restaurant had very good food! There was a nice gift shop with Native American items. We stayed two nights!
I stay in various motels across the US. This LQ had by far the cleanest breakfast and the best food for that value. there were 2 ladies. working the kitchen so there was always fresh hot food, plenty of coffee and an extremely clean breakfast area. 5 Stars
It was an older hotel but the room was spotless with all the amenities we needed. Comfortable bed and lots of pillows. After we checked in the manager stopped by with bottles of water and told us about the continental breakfast.
The luggage carts are best ever! Staff friendly. Let us park our motorcycles under cover. Hotel very clean and organized. Layout well thought out. Close to restaurants. Room nice , quiet and clean.
The restaurant was very slow - not enough help in kitchen or wait servers. Breakfast was acceptable, nut not stellar. Very old hotel, very friendly staff. Needs upgrades, but had some old charm.
The bed and the linens were very comfortable. Room was clean and staff very accommodating. The entry to the room was shoveled nicely. There was a lot of snow and it was handled accordingly.
