The girl at the reception was so friendly and helpful. She gave me lot of travel information (boats, buses, schedules). She could not have been more helpful. Also, the room was beautifully designed and appointed.

Epavlis Iosif, hotel in Hora Sfakion

Epavlis Iosif is a self-catering accommodations located in Imbros Village. It opens to a patio with views of the surrounding mountains.

It's an old Greek house so the vibe is unbeatable. The price to vibe to space ratio is best you can get. There's anything you may need, the staff we met (I guess the cleaning lady) were the kindest ❤️ communication over booking was with the host was excellent. You get 2 bedrooms, a.huge kitchen and a sufficient bathroom, with plenty hot water (remember to turn on the heater). There's also a nice seating space outside, next to an impressive grill (which we didn't use. If you want to, bear in mind that there's one grocery shop in Imbros and it's very basic, no meat). The house was cool, despite early September heat and (in the bedroom we used) quiet. A great experience for a night in Imbros.

Αnna, hotel in Hora Sfakion

Set in Loutro, 328 feet from Loutro Beach, Αnna offers air-conditioned accommodations and a restaurant. The hotel has family rooms. All guest rooms in the hotel are fitted with a kettle.

The breakfast at Madares Restaurant (directly downstairs from our rooms) was great! But it was apparently not included in the room rate we paid.. Once we had checked in, the hotel was very familiar to us, as we had stayed in the same rooms five years ago (2018), but at that time they were sold as Madares Hotel rooms, not Anna Hotel! I'm still confused by the name change. When I asked the staff, they said: "Yes, the Madares Anna Hotel." :-D We LOVED the location (as we had before).. the view from the balcony of the village and the bay.. the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, both the maids and the servers in the restaurant..

Here you can take a fantastic hike from Sfakion to Mamera.

Here you can take a fantastic hike from Sfakion to Mamera. It takes a full day - around 10-12 kilometers and you need to be in good shape. I would not go there for the beaches - there are much better beaches elswhere in Greece - and certainly not go there with small children. Kids around 14 -15 you can bring along the hike if they are up for the physical challenge.

This is a lovely little place, and a great base for exploring other villages along the south coast; as well as the ferry to Gavdos. The cafes/tavernas along the front are all lovely and mostly run by super friendly people. There's a fantastic bakery with very pleasant staff! Vrissi beach is lovely for a few days.

Close to Sweetwater and Loutro. Accessible by ferry or car. It's a great place to swim or hike. An E4 path (not recommended for children)starts next to Elena Nature and Arts. And if you're hiking the Samaria park this is a great base. Fresh local products like fish and yogurt are very good.

Beautiful small village catered to tourists, easy to walk around. My husbands family was originally from Sfakia 300 years ago and he was looking forward to a more “local” experience there. The restaurants are great, people welcoming but it is 100% catered to tourism. The ferry ride to Loutros was nice

Chora Sfakion stole a huge part of my heart in 1974.

Chora Sfakion stole a huge part of my heart in 1974. I would go back every year until I die if I could. The people are lovely. The food is fantastic! The views are amazing! Great hiking nearby. It is the perfect location and size to get the true Greek experience.

I have passed through Sfakia before a couple of times when returning from Samarian and Imbros Gorges, but wanted to stay. It is a great base for hiking – I walked out of the town to the mountains and the E4 path on one day and took the boat to Aghia Roumeli and hiked back to Loutro the other day. You can get a boat – ferry or water taxi – from here to many places on the south coast and to Gavdos Island. In late October it was pretty quiet, just hikers really. Friendly people, some fantastic waterfront tavernas, lovely local beaches, a couple of great supermarkets, a superlative bakery with the best pies and nut bars for your rucksack, and a pharmacy for blisters. You can get here by bus, boat or car. I drove from the north, and parking was easy, €3/day or free if staying in hotel, although I can imagine it will be harder in the summer. It is quieter in the evening as most people just pass through on their way from the gorges.
