The executive twin room is very spacious and well appointed with ample space for luggage, a large wardrobe, chair, tables, etc. The bathroom is also very generously sized. Everything functioned well except for the WiFi which often stopped working/was very slow. Otherwise it was quite quiet and relaxing - perfect for anybody who is in need of a peaceful space! Note that they do in fact take credit card (unlike what it says on this website).

First of all, there is no shop to buy the SIM card in Sandakan Airport, the nearest place is 7/11 which is in 5 min by taxi. Next stage of the quest is that you will need to ask someone to share the Wi-Fi with you since you must register your SIM card by yourself online. Perhaps, buying the SIM card in Kota Kinabalu will be the best option.
If you are going to Sukau area, do not consider buying U Mobile SIM card - it will not work there completely.
I would not recommend to have a food at any of restaurants at the seafront: meals will be overpriced and in most of the cases not even edible.
Tours to Bornean bear and orangutan parks will be at least 3x cheaper for you than suggested by TripAdvisor if you will just use Grab taxi to reach it: both parks are located at the same place. Firefly tour is also costly and not really impressive: do not expect to see too much, if you cannot resist to go there.
Pasir Putih Beach could be nice place if the beach was visible under the layers of garbage. Don't recommend to waste your time for it.
There are a lot of beggar kids at the central area. I don't know if they can steal anything, but I guess it makes sense to be careful.

Sandakan is not a city brimming with character and charm. It is OK and you can find a small number of nice enough places to eat and drink, if you set your mind to it. I would not want to have stayed there more than one day and I won’t be going back anytime soon.

We used Sandakan as the gateway to Turtle Island and the Kinabatangan River. We had lunch in a central hotel which was fine, not a lot for vegetarians but the service was good.
We could have spent a little longer there, it seems easy to get around.

Great little town, wouldn’t spend more than a day or two here unless you were using as a base to go and see the orangutans and rainforest discovery centre or island tours.
Great water front dinners. Shopping mall and grocery store close to water front. Nice vibe.

It’s my home town and I have lots of fond memories. Fresh seafood paradise and amazing mixed cuisine with traditional Chinese, Malaysian food and Indian dishes. Everything in the food market is super cheap and fresh.
The town centre is looking undeveloped and unloved.

Not much to do in the town or much to see and nowhere very nice places to eat/drink. Unfortunately it is quite run down so book a decent hotel to stay in and make the most of the experiences available in the area.
Basic hotel with basic amenities and facilities. Overall, it is a hotel for someone to get some sleep and rest and nothing more than that. Breakfast is pretty good. The location for the hotel is close to townships with restaurants and eateries outlets - but you need to take a taxi or car. It is not far from these restaurants or shops. If you are not driving, you must get an UBER/Grab. You cannot walk - may take more than 20 mins walk.
Apartment was spacious. Host provided all basic necessities for the 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. Security was pretty good. Contact with the host was provided.
Washing machine was working great.
While we were there in the first few days the host installed WiFi Internet. It worked great.
It was nice to have a rice cooker and electric kettle in the kitchen.
Balcony had a nice view and had a drying rack for our Laundry.
Room : Our room have been upgraded to room with sea view. Super satisfied with the room view. Basic room amenities provided. Very reasonable price for what the room had offered.
Location : Very convenient location as the hotel just in front of Sandakan Market & at the back of Harbour Mall. Near to Waterfront Seafood Restaurant. All in walking distance, super convenient.
The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. I work remote and after getting to the resort, found out the wifi didn’t work and I had no cell service (U mobile has no coverage here). the wonderful hotel staff let me use their hotspots so I could get work done. the price seems high for the area, but it was clean, the food was good, and the river was close.
My room was what I needed: a place to rest before and after a rainforest adventure. Hot shower, nice bed and a working airconditioner.
Location is perfect. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, a coin laundry right next to hotel's front door (very good after the rainforest!). Hotel is located in the heart of Sandakan.
The Hotel is well located in the town center and has a fairly good restaurant (Palm Cafe) with cheap options and big portions, sometimes buffet, and very friendly staff. Wouldn‘t recommend to spend the night at the Hotel though.
Great value for money. Lovely hotel with history. Well worth staying. As good as many other luxurious resorts and staff are excellent 😍would highly recommend it if you are in Sandakan. Beautiful pool and surroundings
Hotel was near the airport, we needed to stay in an area near the airport and close to the Sepilok Sanctuary, it was perfect for a night and the restaurant across the street was also very nice and clean.
Sandakan town is a nice place to visit but lacks soul. The Sabah Hotel was a paradise to escape to. Beautiful setting, walking distance from town, Agnes Keith's house and the Chinese cemetery. Loved it!
The hotel owner is very very helpful! We rented a bike through the hotel and we could always text with questions about our stay or how to book a bus. Even later in the evening we got a quick response!
All good. Water pressure huh.. lajuuu..
Facilities good.
I believe just the hotel business is not really good because the location is not really convenient.
Keep it up and maintain your business.
.
This place was superb! Great location, can walk to sun bears and Sepilok. Food and drink amazing here. Definitely the best place to eat here in Sabah!
loads of wildlife by your cabin. very clean.
Fine place in Sandakan! Nice big appartment in a nice complex. The 18th floor was amazing, nice view!! Very clean, loved the soft bed sheets, lots of space! Can recommend to everyone!
