Very amenable city. Not as crowded or crazy as Amsterdam, but with plenty of sights to see especially considering that The Hague is within range of the metro. For one person traveling alone it would even make sense to stay in Rotterdam and commute to Amsterdam. Even after the cost of daily roundtrip intercity train fare you'll likely come out ahead on cost, and the train trip is only about 45 minutes.

Rotterdam was not as crowded as Amsterdam.
Rotterdam was not as crowded as Amsterdam. The transport was excellent and it was easy to get around, even in middle suburbs. Het Park was a lovely place to spend time in. Markhal was fun to look around.

Rotterdam is one of the nicest cities in the Netherlands.
Rotterdam is one of the nicest cities in the Netherlands. They say: "Amsterdam has it, Rotterdam doesn't need it!" and it's true. Although tourism numbers have greatly increased, Rotterdam is a much nicer place to go than Amsterdam, in my opinion. Just day trip it to Amsterdam (if you absolutely must) and stay in Rotterdam, and you will have a much better time!

Definitely a city I'd recommend visiting, whether it's for museums of Dutch culture or perhaps if you're a foodie you would like the Market Hall (I personally loved trying different food here!). Getting around is also very easy as there's metro and tram stations basically everywhere. As much as I enjoyed my stay here, I just don't fully feel comfortable walking around during the late hours.

I'm going to hijack this space to promote the Rotterdam Marathon, since that's why I was there. I've run 20 marathons now and this is one of the very best. The city comes ALIVE out on the streets and the crowds are SO supportive of runners, constantly encouraging individual runners by name (printed on bibs) throughout the entire race. Thank you Rotterdam for such a great experience! And for any marathon runners who read this, you really need to run this race and visit this city!

Rotterdam is a good base to stay to visit the south west side of Netherlands. Very very windy city tho... the winds could move my travel stroller even w my baby in it, lol.
We completed Rotterdam in a day, with a visit to the maritime museum. Markthall is pretty, but thats about it. We enjoyed Denhague a lot.
We stayed at Citizen M multiple times, and we always enjoyed everything about the hotel. The location is excellent, really central for Rotterdam city walks. The Saturday market right in front of the hotel (next to Markethaal) is a highlight of our visit each time. We usually come in our car, so it is always good to have parking in the hotel. The rooms are cozy and has all the amenities one might need. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly.
I must start by writing that I looooooove Rotterdam and this hotel was the perfect accommodation.
It's right up in the city center, minutes away by walking from Markethall, the Cubic Houses, The Central Train Station, the Erasmus Bridge and so on.
The room was very clean and the bed comfy and I loved the vetiver shower gel and hand soap (it's my favourite flavour) :D
The staff was beyond friendly and helpful.
We loved our stay at FD hotels! The rooms were very clean comfortable and well designed! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also thought that the hotel was very well located adjacent to main attractions, rotterdam centraal station, a metro station and a tram station. All in all, it was a nice experience and we would gladly recommend it and visit again!
Hotel was perfectly situated within walking distance of the Rotterdam Port and train stations. The staff was wonderful and the food for breakfast was outstanding. The Suite was larger than expected with two separate rooms - one made up for our kiddo. The master bath was luxurious after a red eye from Atlanta to Amsterdam. Would definitely stay again!
Great location, close to the heart of Rotterdam. The room was very clean and comfortable - nicely decorated. Good shower. Loved being able to check in and out using the machine - super quick. Even though the hotel is on de Meent with many busy bars and restaurants outside we didn’t hear a sound in our room - amazing. All in all a great stay.
location was perfect near to centrum, good security, lots of restaurants in the same street as the hotel
staff was extremely friendly and available 24/7
Hubs were very clean, cozy and comfortable
bathroom was clean and the water for the shower is always hot
i will absolutely book this hotel again for my next visit to Rotterdam
Excellent property with excellent location. Just get out of centraal and walk for a while to get there. Infront of the hotel you can find tram, just walk to it and take the tram to anywhere in rotterdam. All in all it is the best hotel with the best location. A few blocks away you can find all sort of restaurants, bars, clubs etc.
The location was excellent. Situated within walking distance from the Rotterdam Centraal station and with tram stations just around the street, Hilton Rotterdam is pretty accessible if you want to travel within the city or outside. The hotel staff is very helpful and would do their best to ensure that you have a pleasant stay.
A very nice little hotel a short distance from the city centre and handy for tram (Line 4) or Metro (Dijkzigt). I had a very comfortable single room. Breakfast was very good. There's a number of nice bars at the end of the road, and an ice-cream shop that opens late. A good base for exploring Rotterdam by tram, metro or foot.
Original hotel with a perfect location only 5 minutes from Rotterdam Central Station and with a couple of bars and restaurants very close where you could lunch and have breakfast. The room was small but functional and the hotel environment is very artistic and original. The staff is very polite.
very nice location, walkable to city center about 15 min walk, quiet area, comfy beds, clean bathroom and friendly stuff, parking for fair prices, coffee and tea in the room. We will come back to this hotel for our next Rotterdam trip.
Fair price for what you get.
The most wonderful feature of the Mainport Hotel, apart from its location and design is the staff. The first two members of staff we met, Carmen and Terry made us feel so welcome that we cant wait to go back to Rotterdam. Professional and genuinely caring!
Breakfast was generous and tasty. The hotel location provides easy access to highway. Rotterdam city center can be reached within minutes. The stuff tried to help us as much as they could. Rooms are modern and have excellent sound isolation.
Great little hotel, just 10 minutes of walking from the Rotterdam Central Station. It's located on a quiet street so that was also very appreciated.
As a note, if you need a hair dryer, you can get one from the reception!
The fact that there is a gym and 24/7 mini supermarket in the hotel and plenty of spots in the parking lot. This is a convenient location for guests willing to go one day to the Hague and another one to Rotterdam downtown.
Well located in the middle of Rotterdam. The staff are very helpful and give you tips where to visit or eat nicely in the Centrum. The maids were also very friendly. The Hotel looks very luxurious but it's worth the prize.
Cleanness, careness, locality. Perfect place to stay in Rotterdam. 3 minutes walk to Centrum and Central Railway Station. Very clean and well organized. Very confortable rooms and bathrooms.
Excellent, stylish hotel in an interesting part of Rotterdam, close to Erasmus University. The room was really quiet and really well-equipped. Friendly staff.
