We loved the location and the staff was great! We also thought the hotel was a great location and very nice. Our room was very dark and located so we couldn’t open the curtains. We were provided with a reading light which made all the difference and should be in every room!

A large bungalow unit in a jungly area away from any other buildings and a short walk away from the lagoon. The bed was large and comfortable, the room was clean and any requests I made were attended to immediately. There is a lovely dock and palapa in the lagoon area along with other areas on land to lounge and relax. The room is cool and quiet with decent extras to make your visit comfortable.

The property was great! MBH is about 5km away from the center of bacalar, which makes it perfect if you're looking for something quiet and private.
The property is quite large and even has biking trails to ride one, kayaks, and paddle boards for free. Bar has really good drinks, food is great,i and I would highly recommend having a day out on the dock and trying their Potatoes and wings.
Private pools are also heated, which is great, wonderful views of the lagoon from the balconies and stunning sunrises, reception staff was really great as well as the bar and restaurant staff. Bacalar taxi service is also very responsive to get you to town in the area the hotel is located.
Highly recommend and will be back.

We were late arriving due to travel complications at the Belize border. We went out to eat and found a couple of local places close by for supper and breakfast. Location is about 20 minutes from central, an easy walk. Would have stayed a couple more days but booked up full

The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing.
The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and gracious. The restaurant options were remarkable considering the small size of the town. We didn't explore much outside our hotel and Centro Bacalar, however there were many options for great day trips and tours nearby. It was easy to fly into Chetumal and take a taxi to Bacalar.
We ate many times at Xant Ha since we stayed at the Maya Bacalar Hotel, and it was fantastic! El Manati had fantastic food and the art gallery with gift shop was a bonus. La Playita has incredible atmosphere right on the water and the service was excellent. Food here was just OK. We had a great time getting to know the owner at Sweet Child of Wine, and she served us tasty tapas as we sipped local wines. Enjoyed our meal at Nao Sushi, great location on the water.

It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal. The tour on the lake takes you to the different cenotes, with time to swing in those colorful waters, it is really beautiful.
We found a nice restaurant called Waah, the food was delicious, all dishes are prepared from scratch. Excellent.
The city is small and peaceful. There is a fort San Felipe to visit.

We enjoyed being able to swim from the hotel dock. We had a car and drove to restaurants. Restaurants were in walkable distance if need be.
You can easily see lake Bacalar in 2 full days. A boat tour of the lake does it all.

Bacalar is a small town, not much to do, the lagoon is beautiful but the tours are expensive and with time the massive turism will damage the lagoon. They don't have the infrastructure to protect nature from garbage and people waste.

Bacalar is wonderful and feel safe and welcoming.
I had love every minutes of my stay.
It s easy to walk around.
The hostel Lahar douwtown has a super friendly vibes and it really made it fun to be in Bacalar.
Location, location, location. The hotel is located just four blocks from the centro histórico and two blocks from the lagoon. After a little bit of a mix up about the room we had reserved, everything was taken care of to our satisfaction. Randy at the reception desk was friendly and very helpful. The vegan breakfast was simple but filling. The room was simply decorated but comfortable for a good nights sleep. The courtyard was relaxing. A good place to rest in Bacalar.
we had the best time of our trip to Mexico! The tubes are extremely cosy and comfortable with great aircon! If you are looking for an authentic and local experience in bacalarr I highly recommend. The owners are extremely accommodating and always made sure we had everything we needed, taxis water ect.
The vibe of the place is also beautiful, the lights and music, amazing to swim in the pool.
Also must their pizza & mojitos! Definitely recommend cannot wait to visit again (:
Great service: that makes all Jesus was just wonderful. The lake is a 5 mins walk and for three times nothing you can access to a park and take a dip to cool off: We loved our stay here! The hotel does not serve breakfast BUT the staff can arrange for you to order in: Food and Price is great! They offer as well good prices for cruises on the lake: We did this option an had one of our best days in Mexico!
The aircon works very well! Our car seemed save on the parking:) .
The location is fine if you have a car, which we did. The front desk worker, Abi, was nice and polite and tried to accommodate. The internet worked well, especially for this area of Mexico which often doesn't have great internet access. After stating our unhappiness with the quality of the room, they were able to put us in a somewhat nicer room for our last night after we arrived home from dinner around 8:30pm so we didn't get much a chance to be in the room.
This is the nicest place we've slept in in Mexico :) the owner is super nice and helpful, the kitchen is small but very clean and there is an amazing big garden. There is hot water in the shower.
It is really close to a public access spot to the lagoon. It's also close to a local market (totally reccommend for fruit and veggies!) and the ADO bus & colectivo station. Bacalar center is about 10-15 minutes on foot.
Great value for money.
The place is magical paradise in the middle of the jungle, which makes it very unique and definitely the highlight of our stay in Mexico! We loved the sunrises at the lagoon and the hangouts at the dock. The lush greenery makes it chilly during the hot days. We loved that they also had vegan food options. The cabins are simple yet beautiful, with a roof window which lets you see the stars at night. 12/10!
Beautiful rooms, beautiful pool. I loved all the plants and the great hammocks! Everything is beautifully designed! We got a warm welcome at the reception and the hotel owner is very kind and gives you a lot of information. A big plus are the bikes you can use for free to bike around Bacalar. And the breakfast was delicious! Honestly, everything was perfect. Favourite stay during our travels in Mexico!
Good for 2 nights, so you can explore city and laguna. There is nice, calm private courtyard, friendly, English speaking owner. There is not much to do for more than 2 days if you don't want to relax, but in that case I would choose something by the shore. Like everywhere in Mexico, there is a private land around whole lake, just a few free spots in Bacalar. Safe place.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Rachel (the owner) is such a welcoming and friendly person, she was always there if we needed anything. Our room was perfectly cleaned and very spacious. We had drinking water, the breakfast was great and it's not too far from the center. Overall one of our best hotel experiences in Mexico!
Best breakfast we had in Mexico! The staff was lovely! I liked being in that section of the lake - it was quiet and that's where our sailing trip took off from. It would have been nice to be right on the shore, but Zensus was a great value and I would stay there again if we went back to Bacalar.
I loved this property and overall Bacalar!
great location and amazing staff, hotel had great facilities, high maintenez and great breakfast! Dalia was amazing and super helpful. I highly recommend ordering the outsourced massage services and doing one in the open palapa, great experience!
Casa Bakal is a great place to hang by the lagoon. I visit Bacalar often, and Casa Bakal is always my top choice of places to stay. It is really beautiful, and in a very pretty part of the lagoon. The staff, the facilities, and the rooms are great. I would highly recommend.
Fantastic hotel .
The staff were excellent & very very helpful 👍. From the moment we got there and Imana helping us arrange for washing of our clothes to the breakfast & helping us with whatever we needed . I'll definitely stay there again the next time we're in Bacalar
The location was great only a block walk down to the boardwalk and a couple more block to the ecological entrance to the lagoon. The included breakfast was great! Hotel has a nice rooftop pool as well as sun loungers and tables
The staff was amazing, helpful, and with great tips about where to eat and go around the lagoon.
The rooms were very spacious, with good king-size beds (something rare in Mexico), with mini-fridge, AC and clean.
The team of bacalar made sure everything was perfect. Special thank you to indra and franko for giving all the energy and organizing everything and making sure everybody was involved. Best hostem in mexico.
Best hotel I slept in in Mexico. Big bungalow, beautifuly located, with lots of greens and perfect view for logoon. Very comfortable bed, big bathroom, well worked AC. I recommend this place to anyone.
