Prior to travelling to Sanloem I read online that there are no roads on the island and was therefore quite shocked to see the massive, wide, bulldozed dirt roads that had been carved into the island's untouched jungle. Upon investigating the matter, we found out that a Chinese owned company has rented half of the island from Cambodian government and is planning on building big hotels and casinos around the island. So, what you saw during your visit year ago is totally different from this year. I dread to think what the island will looklike in 5-10 years time.

Long Time Visitors to Koh Rong Sanloem.

Long Time Visitors to Koh Rong Sanloem. Stayed at Lazy Baech for many years when it was only accommodation on Island and Saracen Bay was development free and a 25min walk through Jungle. Now they have cleared a 4 lane road through the Jungle from Saracen Bay to Lazy Beach. Just stayed at M'pai bay for first time and it my new favorite location in Koh Rong Sanloem. Nice village feel in nice bay with a fantastic main beach around the headland that is not developed. Lots of great Food and Drink options and allround friendly owners.

Nice and quiet island, small enough to cover the main sights on foot. We loved lazy beach but weren't so impressed by Saracen bay. This is mainly because of the amount of rubbish in the water/sand but I guess it depends on the currents/wind. The island itself has very basic facilities and reduce accessibility, I don't think it would be suitable to someone on a wheelchair or using crutches.

This is a great place to relax and sit around on the beach, plenty of activities if you want but we just relaxed. We ate at Saracen Bay Resort most of the time, great food and very reasonably priced, seemed to be cheaper than other places along the beach.

More trash than you'd want to see on a tropical island, but...

More trash than you'd want to see on a tropical island, but that's the general rule in Cambodia. Saracen beach is the central point of the island, which also makes it the busiest area. You will see motorbikes and tractors crossing the beach all day long. Lazy and Sunset beaches are much cleaner, the sand is yellow and much less people reach these beaches. Cool beach bar with great food at Lazy beach, with a nice 30 minute jungle hike, mostly shaded, between Saracen and Lazy beaches. Cool stone statues in the jungle and amazing viewpoint 15-20 minutes hike from Lazy beach (ask the bar for directions).

We absolutely loved our stay at SUNBOO Bungalows. The bungalows are very clean and comfortable. We loved the local and qualitative body soap and shampoo in the bathroom (such a great smell). There is a fan in the room which makes the nights more comfortable. Staff is caring and friendly. The real asset of this place is the stunning beach! Sunset beach is definitely the most pretty and peaceful beach of the island. They propose yoga courses which is great! We would definitely stay at this place again if we come back to Koh Rong Sanloem!

The resort is located by the lagoon a 10-45 min walk from the other hotels on the main beach, which gave the resort a peaceful touch. There is a nice little private stretch of beach just outside the hotel with a pier where you amazingly could be completely alone for the most part! The staff was helpful, easy-going and flexible. The cabins were charming and very close to the lagoon. There was no AC but a pretty quite ceiling fan in the middle of the room just above the beds that did the job will enough in march.

The staff and owner was very accommodating and helpful. The resort is at the end of the island which is a bit far from the port but they have a free pick-up and drop off. I booked this resort because we wanted to do fishing, And yes, we enjoyed fishing and catched lots of fish. The rooms are newly renovated, clean with comfortable pillow and comforter. The place is very relaxing as it's far away from the crowd. I will surely come back to this resort. The room rate is very affordable.

I had the most enjoyable stay at ThmorDa. The location is incredible and is one of the best spots to watch the sunset. There are steps that go down to the water where you can snorkel. Right when you get in the water you can see tons of fish and bright corals. The room was beautiful and had a really comfortable bed. The resort is quite large and has lots of different outdoor artwork and great spots for pictures. The staff was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend.

This is an absolutely gorgeous place, the staff are extremely nice and welcoming and they work non-stop as most people in Southeast Asia. It is indeed on a more secluded part of the island so getting to the other places of the island is more challenging, but that’s not the resort’s fault. Koh Rong Sanloem is a remote island, it’s famous for its pristine beaches and generally non developed land. It’s like a small piece of paradise and we loved our time there.

This hotel is an amazing Cambodian ran resort. It's in a great location on Saracen Bay, staff were very accommodating and helped us with our bags to and from the boat. Hotel is located right at the foot of the pier which the boats to and from the other islands and Sihanoukville use. Pool area was great for chilling around plus the pool itself was nice and refreshing. They also had free books/book swap you could enjoy whilst there.

jungle bungalow on the most beautiful beach on Koh Rong Sanloem - you can literally walk into the sea. staff were super lovely, food was traditional Spanish and oh so delicious. No WIFI but we loved this as it forces a digital disconnect ❤️ close to neighbouring bungalows that also have great food and atmospheres would really recommend for a slice of relaxing paradise

Real remote bungalow on the beach. The staff is very kind and except this hotel, there's nothing else on this beach. Restaurant is good, cheap and with a lot of different choices so no worries not to have other options on Lazy Beach, you'll always find something to your satisfaction. Beach is wild and beautiful, with almost no on on it during our stay (low season).

The houses are simple but contain everything necessary - and everything actually works as promised. The owners genuinely make an effort to help with any issues. The beach around the hotel is cleaned daily - which is important considering Cambodia’s general plastic garbage problem. The bay is incredibly beautiful, and a few other beaches are within walking distance.

The island of Koh Rong Sanloem is a little slice of paradise. Stunning beaches and crystal clear blue water. The resort has a lovely pool area with stunning views across the bay. Great cabanas to lie in and plenty of sun loungers. The restaurant also looks out across the beach so you can dine whilst watching the waves.

Location was perfect, that’s about it. Disgusting mouldy pillows, and mattress, very old towels. Photos were obviously long time ago! Dont book this hotel!! Awful, needs updating big time! Only staff who met us off the boat were helpful. Manager didn’t even say hello to us or anyone else!

Only three sun loungers for whole hotel. Terrible screeching noise from the generator every day around 5pm. It really needs a bar on the beach with some atmosphere all a bit clinical.
