The island felt too crowded and too empty at the same time... Felt very tourist-y, even compared to Bangkok. More expensive, a lot of people. Even though it is a "small" island, it is not easy to walk anywhere, especially if staying at a hotel further away from busy location. I would recommend Rayong!

It is a beautiful beach and a great atmosphere. There where a good mix of families, singles couples. The fire show was one of the highlights from my month in Thailand. It was a spur of the moment trip from the Hard Rock where I was staying in Pattaya. A great place to stay by the way. Sunset was amazing, quaint down town area. Just make sure you time getting to ferry or you might have to wait two hours for the next ferry which was very inexpensive. If you do misss it there is a speed boat always available for 1,500 baht.

Ko Samed is the ideal place for a weekend away from Bangkok.
Ko Samed is the ideal place for a weekend away from Bangkok.
It is easily drivable for around 3/4 hours, and then a 10 minute pier ride. For those of you who cannot stand waves and rough waters I highly suggest to get to the Pier early (before sundown) as the speedboat can make the 10 minute ride very "exciting" and "adventurous"

I love Ko Samed and have been many times.
I love Ko Samed and have been many times. It offers just the right balance of beach, night life and good food. It's reasonably close to Bangkok so you can be on the beach after work on a Friday. Great for families, teens and couples alike.

Wonderful island to visit. Nice vibe, good food, chilled! Easy to get there, we took a bus from Bangkok to Rayong and then the ferry to Koh Samet. Lots of things to do, e.g. scuba, snorkeling, jet ski.

East side of the island is a string of white sand beaches, one very big and busy one but they get quieter and smaller as you go south
Not a lot to do apart from beach life
Sunset side is dominated by 3 fairly ugly resorts but you can scooter or bus over to take in the sunset
We enjoyed it as it was only 2.5 hrs taxi ride from BKK airport
Simply I did not want to leave, it was my perfect break. The hotel was excellent, the staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel even supplied beach towels, bottles of water for the beach a bag to carry all in and the loungers on the beach are reserved for the hotel guests. Though I noted the hotel staff were continually asking non residents to move. For me a perfect hotel in a wonderful location.
I love this beach and this hotel — every time use it when I visit Ko Samed. Even if I stayed in other hotels on other beaches, I always came here to eat and spend time on the beach. But this time I was fully disappointed :( Also I've came with my big family and friends and the hotel did not live up to their expectations too.
Lady in charge iwas nice. Location near port and in the other direction the beach was near. The property not suitable for wheelchair users or anyone frail or infirm because on an incline but easily reached for able bodied.. Neighbours were chatty and helpful. We liked the convenience of being both near Port and the Beach.
This property is right on the beach and it's pleasant enough. However, it's very touristy and could've been the Costa del Sol, rather than Thailand. We got scooters and managed to check out some nicer, more secluded beaches. However, it's such a small island and the whole place was a bit of a tourist trap.
It's a very cozy hotel, with nice area around and great restaurant. There's also an own small beach for swimming and a common area, filled with hammocks, swings, sunbeds etc. The room is beautiful and has all what you need. I stayed only one night, but I wish I could make my vacation there much longer!
All the staff at this hotel are amazing, my wifes uncle was taken very ill with breathing difficulties whilst here and the staff could not do enough to help us getting him back and to, to the clinic on koh Samed .
The kindness they showed will never be forgotten.
The location was the best thing of this accommodation. It was on the beach and near the pier, also shops, restaurants and seven eleven was a few minutes walking distance. Breakfast was good and there were many options. The staff were nice and friendly.
Very good location just in the end of the beach away from hussle .
Just on the beachfront.
Secound floor has big balcony facing the ocean with beautiful breeze.
Property has also nice cocktail bar and Juice bar.
Beautiful room, excellent location, and incredible vibes. Breakfast was delicious, the tables and chairs on the beachfront were superb. Staff were kind and helpful. Everything was enjoyable and easy.
All the facilities in the hotel are exceptional. Enormous and comfortable bed. Great sea view and location (11 mins walk from the place you get off the boat). Caring and helpful staff.
