Vientiane is starting out on its journey to become a popular tourist area - facilities are improving and what is there now works well. Modern hotels are in process of being built and transport infrastructure is developing - the China/Laos hi
gh-speed railway is certainly opening up this country.
Currently, mass tourism has not yet arrived (unlike many other places, where you seem to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with half the world's population).
If you want to go, go soon (but not in the wet season - wet is really wet!) - we can see that in a few year's time this lovely country could be overwhelmed with the evils of mass tourism, with hundreds of coaches queuing daily to get to the ancient cultural sites!

Title: Vientiane: A City of Charm and Culinary Delights
Title: Vientiane: A City of Charm and Culinary Delights
Review:
Vientiane, the heart of Laos, is a city that radiates charm and hospitality. During my visit, I was constantly struck by the friendliness of the locals, who added warmth to every encounter. The city's culinary scene was a delightful surprise; each meal, whether at a humble street stall or a cozy restaurant, was a delicious exploration of Laotian flavors. While Vientiane may not top the list for a single-visit itinerary in Laos, it's undeniably worth spending a few days in. The city offers a unique blend of tranquility and cultural richness, making it a pleasant and memorable part of any Laotian adventure.

Kinda sleepy, and not as many Day Tours and things to do as Luang Prabang or other nearby Asian cities. The only tour I did was because I saw a sign on a tree offering a three-site half day thing for just $10USD. His name is Tungchai and I recommend his tour ... Find him here ... https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067140248570 ... After that, I decided on a flash one-night visit to Vang Vieng / Nam Ngum Lake. The bullet train is FANTASTIC and that area up there is beautiful!

I booked this Hotel for married friends who came for 3 nights. The room was excellent as was the price. I gave an outstanding review. Yesterday I sent another friend there as it was so good. At check in they tried to put him in a small, smelly room where nothing (TV, safe etc) were working. He was forced to go to Reception and tell them it wasn't good enough. He was then put into the room he booked. This is very disappointing and has me doubting my original review. It's a shame that things like this happen in this country regularly. If you get the room you booked, this Hotel is excellent. Best of Luck.

Beautiful city, capital of Laos.
Beautiful city, capital of Laos. The city is spread out but still very walkable or by tuk tuk with many things to see and eat. The night market is nearby the river with some sort of kiddie amusement park. There seems to be a mix of old and modern entertainment to explore but I didn't do much (busy working). Lots of food stalls, dining options. Haven't had one bad meal but some are better than others for sure. The night food market near D Mart is superb for food finds.
The location couldn't be better, it is centered and has many restaurants around. We had a room with the view on the back of the property, so it was calm, not sure about the other side, but anyways it's not a very noisy city. The rooms were simple, and the breakfast was good enough. We needed a good hotel to pass through on our way to other places in Laos, so it was perfect for that. The pool area is nice to chill.
I recently stayed at this hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room - it was larger than the average hotel room at this price. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The hotel was also conveniently located, not far from the center of Vientiane. Overall, I found the hotel to be very comfortable and would definitely recommend it to others.
As the rooms are grouped around an inner courtyard (with pool), it is relatively quiet, despite the busy streets nearby.
The bed was comfortable. The location is good (the river with many lively restaurants is not far away), and many interesting sites are walking distance away.

The whole experience at the Crowne Plaza was great overall. The hotel is modern, clean, comfy and has super facilities, especially the pool and well-equipped gym! The food was very pleasant, with a lot of choice, particularly at breakfast, and the staff were happy, and helpful. If we return to Vientiane, we will certainly look to stay here again.
Elegantly decorated from top to bottom, fabulous location with amazing views from the rooftop bar. We stayed here twice during our Laos holiday and if we ever return wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. The staff are exceptional- especially Zack and Lam who went out of their way to assist us throughout our travels. Thank you to all at Lao Poet
The world's humblest are available in Laos. They are more humble than Japanese. Be it a taxi driver , hotel staff or any one . As a globetrotter this is the first time I have experienced such a great feeling. Hat Off to Laos people. Taxi drivers will not cheat you too. Laos is my 106th country. They also gave me an early check in.
The room and the beds were very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and professional
The breakfast provided was very good, we arrived at the hotel fairly late and ended having dinner at the restaurant and it turned out to be one of our favorite meals in Laos
The terrace was nice, Jenny is a friendly and helpful host. After we arrived we didn't get the room we had booked because the key was lost by a customer. They repaired it on the next day and we got our room. Breakfast was very limited but it is common for Laos.
The best hotel in Vientiane for the money! As a world traveller I appreciate quality when I experience it. As far a room quality this hotel is on par with Hilton which I stayed at recently
in Vera Cruz. Would be honoured to stay here anytime.
Nice Hotel, great location near to everything , good food and tasty Buffet Breakfast..
Strong wifi, beautiful view to Mekong River, friendly and helpful staff.
I will come here to stay and relax on my next trip to Vientiane.
Comfortable room well appointed, beautiful design, excellent breakfast menu in a lovely restaurant, my first time in Laos, I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff are very nice. Rooftop restaurant also very nice good menu.
Thé lady at front counter (day shift) is willing to help about taxi transfers to border gate Laos-Thai , breakfast is acceptable. Location is closed to night market but its pretty far from Wat Tat Laung and Pratui Sai.
our room was large ,well appointed and immaculately cleaned. The bed was luxurious The breakfast was 5 star and the pool area was lovely. The location provided easy walking access to many sights in Vientiane..
the staff were so lovely and attentive in laos all of the people have been so lovely and kind but moonlight champa went above and beyond. their free bikes on sight and great location made it a great stay
Lovely clean hotel close to the night market and some really lovely restaurants. A good place to be based as you see Laos. Breakfast was good. Nice tv in the room and a very clean and powerful shower
I love Laos and love Laos people. I was slept very deep and feel so good when I woke up. and the service was great and super yummy breakfast. sorry for that I ate a lot and want to go there again
Very good location. Extremely clean. Wonderful pizza place opposite to the hotel. Didn't imagine we'd enjoy pizza in Laos. Breakfast was excellent on a lovely terrace.
