We had never heard of PadangBai and only visited to catch the ferry to Nusa Lebongan. Pleasantly surprised to find this small town offering good restaurants, live music (Omani Omang), good diving (Absolute Dive), and pretty scenery.
The negative is the amount of plastic garbage in the sea and on the beaches. I don’t know if this is common to the region, but I strongly recommend the communities make a concerted effort to clean this up. The plastic garbage was appalling and detracted from the ambience.

The pier wasn't as bad as expected although the condition could be improved considering it's very busy and frequented by many tourists every day! Be careful if porter scam as someone will approach you asking to help and will charge you in the end for the service. If you need an assistance, do agree in advance on the fee.
Do note that a harbor tax is compulsory at IDR10,000 per person.

We stayed at Padangbai to catch the fast boat to Gili . We got up early as the drive in showed us a very pretty part of Bali we have never seen.
This is a very cute little fishing village and gateway to Lombok and all it's Islands. The locals are very friendly and honest. My husband left his mobile phone in the taxi and the hotel called the taxi driver who had it back in 5 minutes (he was thrilled at the 100,000 Rp roughly $10 AUD tip)
There was a good selection of restaurants on the waterfront offering lovely fresh Indonesian and Western food we loved the Ikan Bakkat (fish in banana leaves) spicy and delicious. The Cocktails did not disappoint either and my husband welcomed a few cleansing Bintang Beers.

There are afew nice places to eat along the front we stayed 1 afternoon and night before travelling to the gills and that’s enough nothing to see here really. Good food tho in both restaurants on the front we picked and there was also plenty of people selling snacks etc at the harbour. It is like most places in Bali, chaotic with traffic and the people especially the harbour.

There is a small port town which is ok. A few beaches nearby
are a bit surprising given that its a busy port.
I would never return to this port, as Sanur is more sane. You will
be in line and feel like a hearded animal before you even get onto
the boat, try to avoid this experience.
FastboatGili changed our reservation, said it was overbooked
even though had a deposit in advance. Morning of boat departure
the boat company tried to rip us off...just be clear on what you paid
and your balance, dont be intimidated. The boats from here are generally
overpriced but not much you can do about it.

The host was very helpful and accommodating.
The host was very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is still under renovations and not completed yet so very much had a sense of unfinished hotel. The shower flooded and host arranged to have it repaired immediately which was appreciated. Breakfast was basic and the pool was small. There was a small water dispenser in the room that made a gouging noise and kept us awake. Meals were not available and we had to walk into main shopping area for meals and supplies. Overall ok for a one night stopover.
A great place in Padangbai. First of all, Mike and Masih are very nice and friendly people, they took care of us throughly, they helped me with my wound. Hotel is located only 3-5 min walk to harbour and a great beach. Rooms are spacious and clean. We also used their snorkeling activities and we went to Nusa Penida with a very small group, it was an absolute fun day with a lot of professional local guides. We were allowed to check in early and check out late. Breakfast was also fine. This hotel deserves much better rating :)
I had an ocean view room on the 2nd floor, and the nice breeze, the view of the harbor and the sound of the waves were amazing. It was very relaxing and nice. I enjoyed 2 lazy nights there (1 1/2 days). The hotel also helped book me on a fast boat (Wahana?) to Gili T. I got a great price (50k-100k cheaper than anywhere else), and the boat was really clean and had a strong AC. The harbor is so close; it makes the travel to Gili so much easier and enjoyable. The shower had good water pressure and was very hot.
Great view of the harbour.
Nice breakfast included.
Clean airconditioned room.
Friendly helpful staff.
It is not easily accessible accomodation (70 steps) for an older visitor but it is a welcoming friendly place for the young and fit.
Lemon house is located up streets too narrow for cars on the hill overlooking beautiful Padang Bai harbour. Thankfully we only had light carry on luggage in Bali and on departure, the thoughtful, helpful owner carried my wife's bag down the steps for her.
Padangbai Beach Inn is the perfect place to stay before catching a ferry to the Gili Islands or Lombok. I highly recommend staying in an ocean front room where you can watch the fisherman come & go from your balcony. There are nice restaurants close by for dinner and breakfast at the hotel was everything you need - also looking out to the water & watching locals going about their daily life. The ferry terminal is about 300m away so it was an easy walk in the morning to catch the ferry.
We loved our two days here, the rooms are basic but the hosts make the stay great ❤️. They are so friendly and helpful and you can have coffee and tea any time of the day made for you. They also make the best breakfast we have had travelling Bali! So much food and really fresh! For the price they go above and beyond. We even had a fridge in our room which was a nice surprise. This place is in a great location for the ferry and for a walk over to the blue lagoon couldn't ask for more.
A beautiful homestay in a traditional Balinese house with its own temple in a central location. The couple who run it are lovely. Wayan picked us up from Denpasar for a very reasonable rate and also organised our boat trip to Gili Air. We’re very grateful for that because the process of getting a fast boat can be confusing. He and his wife also gave us good recommendations for things to see and Warungs to eat at for our short stay. I’d stay there again next time I’m in Bali.
Nice place, my room was next door to main building and was spacious and nicely designed. Drinking water in room, good shower, comfy bed. Staff were friendly, welcome drink and info received on check in. Breakfast was busy as everyone eating at same time probably due to the boats but the staff managed it efficiently and I really enjoyed french press coffee and having chia pudding as an option! Good location - recommend for a night or more in Padang Bai.
Amazing! The hotel and the room are 10000% better than what I expected. Room really really clean, like super clean, and smell so good. AC and wifi worked so good. Food is so tasty at the restaurant. Lala, and all the girls working there where really helpful.
If I come back to padang bai I will definitely stay here again.
I cannot speak more highly of our stay at Marcel’s. the rooms have the most breathtaking views, they are comfortable, spacious, clean, and we felt so welcomed and happy to stay with everyone. We learned so much about Balinese culture from Marcel, which enriched our travels, and we cannot wait to go back :))
It’s a really beautiful and surprisingly cheap apartment. To me, Bali is all about this place - open layouts, rich wooden vibes, antique-style furniture, loads of natural light, and the peaceful jungle surroundings. Rooms are very specious. I loved the place.
Stuff was really helpful and friendly!
view:Excellent Location: A Dream Room: Best Balinese Handycraft with optimal ideas Food: Made is a excellent chef cook for meat. fish, vegetarisch and vegan. Only best of the best. Laundry :Cheap ,....Pick up Service at reasonable price.
1 night stay before taking ferry - was a great budget place to stay. Room had all needed accommodations and was clean and tidy. Easy walk to ATM and port. Food (Breakfast and Dinner) at restaurant was good. Staff helpful and friendly.
Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. Management clearly had many years of international hotel experience. Rooms and linen were very clean. Food was excellent. Quiet but lively. Would definitely stay again.
The lady of the house and her son were fantastic. Although this place is rather low budget, the breakfast was the best we had during our stay in Bali. We would book this place again. Perfect for this price.
Nice hidden hotel near the Padang bai. Perfect for one night before trip to Gili island. Very kindly stuff which let us keep there our scooters for almost week.
