Very close to the airport, 10 min by car, perfect for the first few days on the island or the last few prior to departure.
Next time i will stay the first 5 days here to get off the jetlag, and the last 2 day before heading out.
the ferry to koh phangan is, depending on the hotel, in walking distance.

More than a couple of nights here is enough as there is very little to do at nights. If you get a motorbike though it becomes one of the best places to stay as everywhere else is within an easy journey.
The hotel restaurants are generally better than the established burger/pizza/steak places. Not saying they're bad but there there are better available. There seem to be fewer local Thai eateries around than used to be the case however the ones that are there are pretty good. Discovered a lovely little cafe/restaurant that I thought at first was purely Vegan but caters for all tastes and the food is all healthy and stuff...not a bad thing after a night on the beverage of choice.
The other thing you should be aware of is that now cannabis has been legalised there are shops and "cafes" everywhere...even a very nice "up market" restaurant that has a full a la carte menu of cannabis infused food in addition to the standard menu items...interesting concept.
To sum up I do the bookends thing, couple of days at the start and end of the Samui trip as the airport is just around the corner...works for me

Staying at U Samui right on the beautiful Bangrak beach was fantastic. Very relaxing and if you get too warm you can have a swim in the sea.
Eating in U Samui restaurant was lovely good food with a great view over the sea.

Bangrak Beach is certainly not the nicest area on Koh Samui but it's conveniently close to the airport and the Bangrak Beach Pier to take the ferry over to Koh Phangang. Therefore a good place to spend a night if your flight arrives/departs too late/early for the ferry to Koh Phangang.

Bangrak is a nice place.
Bangrak is a nice place. The beach is not the best around but you can walk on it. The Bangrak road us busy with traffic and people drive too fast on the approach to it. It’s quite dangerous road and you have to be careful when crossing. Thus also makes it not very peaceful or relaxing.

The best thing that comes in mind is that the location is close, by car, to some important sightseeing, such as Golden Buddha, the Grandmother and Grandfather Beach, the Fisherman Village (2 km, the latter), the Waterfall 2 park, as well as to some of the greatest restaurants on the island: Coco Tam (best beach setting and great food), Jungle Club (the best setting, and amazing view with high quality in food), Suppatra Dining (probably the best dining on the island) and Dr. Frogs (great view, but the food did not met our expectations). The Central Festival Shopping Mall is also close, as well as the airport of Samui, that looks like a cartoon (my favorite airport in the world now).
You can drive easily by luxurious van limo at very decent prices. We had the services of Mr. Tee recommended by the staff of our hotel, the Scent Hotel. He was decent, professional and very polite and he uses WhatsApp.
There are beaches that appeared to us very intimate, like the one from Scent Hotel, or simply gorgeous beaches like the ones between Lamai and Chaweng.
Whole place is tastefully done. It’s right at the sea and view is beautiful. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable bed. Loved the pool.
It is surely not a regular hotel. Not always manned by staff, that could be a bit of pain when you want anything. They do not have any restaurants in the property which I felt was missing. Although there are lot of restaurants at 5-7 mins bike ride.
We wanted to just sit by the beach and wanted a drink, had to go out for that.
Overall 10/10 for the location and rooms. I would stay there again.
It was exceptional. The wood bungalows were built 40 years ago, they are therefore authentic, beautiful and very well maintained. The inner of the rooms is beautiful.
The staff is amazing, very professional, kind and welcoming. The owner even offered a pick up at the ferry pier in Bangrak. The staff also offer taxi services, which is very practical.
There is a direct access to the beach, the pool is rather small but absolutely sufficient and clean.
This hotel is very convenient as very near to the pier ferry and to the airport.
You really get your money’s worth in this hotel. For such a good price we got a spacious room, very good AC, a TV with Netflix and amazing water pressure. Any backpacker would agree that these are small wins which are appreciated whilst travelling. Obviously if you want 5 star luxury then this isn’t for you but if you’re a backpacker/traveller or looking for good quality on a budget then this should be up your street. We needed a transfer to the airport at 6am and the owner took us themselves, the staff were all lovely.
This was a great alternative to staying in a hotel, it’s essentially a hotel with a pool and common area like that but it’s an apartment building. Great location and the host was awesome. We had some troubles by losing our key and the host was super responsive and told us how to get a new one same day.
The space is nice and the came with pots/pans/cutlery/fridge and everything you need for a small space.
We really enjoyed our stay at U Samui.
At this price point, this is one of the better Hotels in Ko Samui.
The beachfront sitting area was brilliant - we were there every evening.
It was really cool seeing airplanes land at the nearby airport.
The hotel has almost all the facilities one can think of (gym, swimming pool, concierge, restaurant etc).- really good!
We chose this hotel because it was very close to the Pier for the boats to Ko Phangan, a distance of 100 meters
The hotel is nicely arranged and clean, the room is big and there was nothing missing
The owner of the hotel waited for us until late at night and received us and we really enjoyed being in this hotel.
New hotel with nice rooms and very comfortable beds. Fun pool, great for photos and lounging. Happy Hour from 3pm to 8pm with 2 for 1 drinks. Complimentary kayaks for guest use. Breakfast is served at a restaurant across the street. Walking distance to the ferry that goes to Koh Phangan
I think it’s better to stay here if you are not going to stay in a 4-5 stars hotel. The apartment is not far from Bangrak beach, you can easily walk there. The room has everything I needed and it’s clean. The pool, gym and tennis court is also perfect for active people.
We stayed just for one night to be close to airport, so the location in that case was good. Room really big, everything clean, cafe and bar that are next to the hotel are really good.
There was fruit market near the hotel, that is good too
The pool and the gardens were amazing, staff very helpful and close to the ferry to koh phangan.
The only thing that wasn’t nice - a bar outside the hotel had blasting music until 02.00am… that was really bad, otherwise all good.
It's the sweetest little hotel off the main road. It was so quiet and calm, just what I needed after a long flight. It was very clean and I loved the minimalist design. Charlie was so nice and helpful. I just loved everything.
Lovely small hotel, close to the airport and on the beach. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Bed was large and super comfortable. The room was very clean and tidy, and the hotel was quiet at night.
Wonderful Hotel. Modern and very clean rooms. Very nice pool. Excellent breakfast. Close to the airport and the ghetty to take the ferry to Koh Phangan(which was perfect for our purpose)
The infinity pool and the view from the room was excellent. The beach was nice and very quiet. The location of the hotel is perfect and easy to find local food.
