Beach and Fun in Penang
Batu Ferringhi is a combination of a beach resort packed with modern hotels and a tropical Asian paradise. Located in the Penang area of northern Malaysia, it is one of the biggest resorts of its kind in the country. Restaurants, shopping centres and numerous modern services and facilities are also available, along with its well-known ‘Pasar Malam’ or Night Market.
The strip along Jalan Batu Ferringhi Street is the main service area, and you’ll find a large variety of hotels on the beach, apartments and guest houses. The area can be divided in three different zones: Tanjung Bungah to the east, Batu Ferringhi itself, and the quieter Teluk Bahang to the west. Check the hotels map to see which area is the most convenient for you.
Things to do in the surroundings include the ‘Butterfly Farm’, home to a collection of thousands of beautiful specimens; and the ‘Spice Garden’, which features a lush landscape with a large variety of herbs and spices. The town is located only 16 km from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town’s historic centre.
It can be reached by bus, or via a 45-minute flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang Airport. Before enjoying the sun and fun of Batu Ferringhi, don’t miss the accommodation deals available on Booking.com!

This is a rather conservative (no alcohol served or allowed, except in rooms) family-oriented facility that is somewhat isolated with limited food and entertainment facilities. The better rooms have wonderful sea views that are perhaps the highlight of the place, along with the colorful “Balinese” color schemes inside the rooms and outside of the buildings. This is not a “beach” resort, since there is only a beach at Low tide and that is very narrow and rocky. I booked the room after a hectic three-week trip to Thailand and Malaysia, in order to chill out before heading home. However, the daytime and evening noise levels at the facility and my room’s thin walls made chilling out very difficult. I would advise anyone contemplating staying here to request a room away from the pools and the restaurant. It happened unbeknownst to me that I booked for the final days of the Chinese New Year, and that may have generated the noise levels since the place was packed with families with children (I was traveling solo, and as far as I could tell, I was the only solo traveler at the facility).

The location , beach and ambience were great. We stayed at the Park Royal Hotel. It was lovely, staff were helpful and always smiling.
We really enjoyed our stay. We ate at Grand Lebanon Restaurant, the food was delicious and service was great at the restaurant.
We also ate at the Enca restaurant (Indian Cuisine) and enjoyed the food which was excellent value for money and delicious.
We picked up some souveniers at the Batu Ferringhi night market also.

The gardens at the bay view were maintained beautifully and the cleaners never seemed to stop around the pool and restaurant area although it was requested that people did not enter wet. Well what can I say???

Batu Ferringhi is basically a strip of hotels/resorts along the main road with some restaurants, shops, massage places and night market along the road as well. Apart from visiting the beach, enjoying the pool area at your hotel, there is not much to do. Beaches are not the best, while we were there, there were signs to watch out for stingers, so we did not go in the water. The local grab drivers told us for nice beach holiday go to Langkawi instead.

I realy recommend this place
The location was fantastic. It was nice being in the North of the island.
The rooms were lovely and spacious, with amazing views from the balcony.
The swimming pool was amazing with different levels of depth going round. The beach is so close and beautiful views.
The local night market in Batu Ferringhi is just a short walk from the hotel. It’s on every night from 7pm til Midnight. Best time to get a deal is during the week as it’s quieter whereas the weekend gets very busy and prices for the same item shoot up!
I stayed at the Lone Pine to use the pool and the beach. They did not disappoint me! I was able to do my daily swim and sun and relax, with no hassles.
I also really like the rooms with balcony and sea view. The design of the rooms is clever, with sliding doors giving privacy. Unusual!
Lone Pine is a boutique hotel, and I like the size and ambience so much better than a roaring huge resort hotel.
The surroundings are all very nice - it is visible that owners care a lot about the resort to be instagram friendly ;) great two swimming pools - especially an infinity pool which we practically had all for ourselves most of the time. If you fancy beach more than pools than it is recommended to use grab or bus and go to Batu Ferringhi as I did not find any nice beach spot in a walking distance.
By The Sea is exactly as described. The apartment was lean and modern. Our apartment was the mosque side which was fine. The development has a great communal gym and infinity pool and garden access to Batu Ferringhi beach. The location has numerous cafes and restaurants on the roadside. A nice relaxed atmosphere. The apartment has a well appointed kitchen and 2 ensure shower rooms.
the resort it self and the activities available for the kids, you don't need to go out of the hotel for anything. the bed is comfortable, the sheets and the towels are super white, towels are available at the swimming pools woth no extra fees, the foos at the swimming pool was great, life guards are every where and they are very friendly
Overall this budget hotel is worth staying. Just at night we were in the room. Would be better if they furnish electric hot cattle just to warm up water. Bedroom and bathroom all looks clean and neat. More suitable for friends and a couple nights staying. Not suitable for family.
This is our 3rd time staying with PARKROYAL Penang Resort. My family and I never get bored, because there's always many activities can be execute while staying here.
Pool : Superb, my kids love it so much (^_^)
Beach : Awesome
- we stayed in Garden Wing which was good and room is wide.
- Swimming pools are amazing. really unforgettable.
- Executive Lunges was very good too.
- The hotel is Big and open to the beach
The Hard Rock Penang Hotel is a great choice for families with young children. The hotel features a fantastic water play area and a sandy beach perfect for toddlers to play in
Excellent resort hotel on the beach with good facilities and pools. Slightly slow and chaotic service (although stayed as COVID was lifting and hotel felt understaffed)
Had a great stay of almost one month, it's a budget hotel but rooms are comfy, location is very good and the staff were really nice! I would recommend it.
