FAQs about hotels in Gdańsk

Charming Architecture And a Breath of History

Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!

Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down the Communist rule in Poland initiating the end of the Cold War era.

Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the near-complete destruction during the World War II. The colourful town houses of the Old Town can be admired by boat on the Motlawa River or enjoyed while strolling along the popular Long Street and Long Market.

While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!

Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city centre.

Such a clean and beautiful city.

Such a clean and beautiful city. We only stayed and looked at the main old town area plus the shipyards. Spent 2.5 days exploring on foot. Very flat easy walking. St Bridgit’s church is a must see with its incredible amber alter and St Mary’s stained glass and clim to the bell tower top was great too! 400 steps though so not for everyone.

Some lovely architecture and nice beaches at Sopot.

Some lovely architecture and nice beaches at Sopot. Gdynia was very disappointing. Most buildings in the old town are amber jewellery shops, currency exchange, restaurants, or coffee shops (which are nothing special). There isn't much else unless you go to a generic shopping centre. There are places of interest, monuments, museum etc but overall a little disappointing. Not as interesting as Warsaw or Krakow.

Nice old town to visite on a weekend.

Nice old town to visite on a weekend. We strongly recommend that you also take a fast train to Sopot which is a lovely little sea town with a very large and beautiful bridge on the sea. Children will probably love to go on a pirate boat trip but do it when it is warm otherwise you will freeze. The Amber Museum in Gdansk is absolutely beautiful. Dont miss it. Food was quite ok. There are restaurang everywhere. People are very friendly.

There is not enough space to say all I want to here.

There is not enough space to say all I want to here. I love Gdansk and everything about it, and if you haven't been there, then WHY ON EARTH NOT? Go there at once and DON'T just stick to the old town and Dluga street. These are really good, and I love them too (as I do everything). But there is so much more. Day trips galore, great parks, excellent walking, a huge variety of restaurants and cafes, the river, the many miles of wonderful smooth sandy beaches (and the water is NOT always so cold as you might think!) Gdansk old town for architecture and history. Gdansk Wrzeszcz for restaurants and cafes. Gdansk Oliwa for the fabulous Park Oliwskie. Sopot and Gdynia for additional fun! Getting around couldn't be easier with trams and buses galore. Using Google Maps to help you, you'll be able to get everywhere. OMG I totally LOVE THIS PLACE, and every time spent there is full of great things!

The city is very well structured and therefore it's almost impossible to get lost. The architecture is stunning - a mixture of Dutch and German styles gives it a unique look. Walking by the riverside is a beautiful experience, also the beach is not far, about 25 minutes by tram. Many great restaurants offer a wide variety of cuisines to satisfy everyone.

If you hold with the truth that there is no time like the past, then you cannot fail to like it. The Old Town is fascinating. For the first time in a long while, I was time travelling again. Not easy to find a restaurant which is vegetarian-friendly, but worth looking through the windows, first floor elevated or into the basement, at interiors that remind me of the years before WWII. I dined at Liberum, which is competitively priced and comfortable, and then stopped for a pint at a whacky vintage bar called, in English, 'Wardrobe'. I was in transit, so only in Gdansk for one night, but you'd be hard pushed to experience everything exhaustively even if you had a week at your disposal. If you don't go, you won't know!

Complementary bottled water, coffee and tea in the room and the hotel also gives you complementary coffee and tea thoughtout the day in the lobby! The breakfast is fantastic, so much variety! The front desk staff, was great! Amicable and efficient. I am already planning to come back to Gdańsk, and I am sure will stay at the Fama again! it was really good!

Great place. 5 min walk into main part of old town. Spa facilities are outstanding. Room chosen had separate bedroom from lounge area. The little fridge was terrific for keeping cold drinks in whilst we we out. Air-conditioning was very welcome as we had beautiful warm weather and being from UK we dont experience it enough to need air con! Housekeeping staff should get a pay rise! They were fantastic as the place is kept so clean! We are looking forward to a return visit to this lovely hotel & stunning city next year.

The hotel is chic and very stylish. The decor is gorgeous in even small details. The hotel restaurant serves delicious cocktails 🍸 and a nice breakfast with Prosecco 🥂 Our waiter was very nice, quick and polite - and he was the best English speaker among all the hotel employees we met in all of our travels in Poland 🇵🇱 The pool area is gorgeous, but the pool can be crowded sometimes. It’s mostly for play, not for swimming. It was a pleasant stay overall.

Its right at the center of The Long Market. You can easily go back to the hotel when you got tired of going around. Eventhough it's at the center it's still very quiet. Very good soundproofing 😊 I love the room that i wished i stayed there longer. But will definitely stay there again when I come back someday 😊

The place is great. Exceptional design, cleanliness and order. Excellent and abundant kitchen equipment. Fast internet. A few steps to the old town. It can be a bit noisy in the morning when the traffic starts on the street. Since the apartments are in the old town, you need to estimate the car parking costs. In our case, we rented a parking space under the house. About 20 Eur a night. I think this is the best choice

Room was spacious even with extra bed in it - and hotel accommodated our request for double bed. Location is good: next to train station, just a short walk from tram lines (but too far to walk to city centre) - and on the right side of the city for the Oliwa Zoo. Located next to a shopping centre - also a perk. Spacious shower, nice hot water - though some quirks:)

The hotel is on the border of the very centre of Gdańsk: perfect combination of short distance to the old town and quietness. It’s a place with one of the best breakfasts I’ve had a chance to eat in Poland. Varied, with a hint of local delicacies, delicious. The swimming pool is another asset. The room itself was nice, warm and had everything needed. The hotel is well connected to the city centre and the airport.
