not a spectacular town. As I had only a limited time, I took a local city guided tour. We went from the major monuments to a visit across some of the hidden markets (and I even taste the food!), the favelas and finally to a beautiful women run hand craft facility that was the best of the visit. The main cathedral was closed and unfortunately the guide didn't stop in a place high enough to allow an overview of the town. The stop in Windhoek was just a point to catch an overland group trip on the way to Etosha National Park

I was born in Namibia, we revisited this time to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, attending a service at the Christuskirche on top of the hill. It's a clean and easy place with lots to see.

Windhoek is the most beautiful , clean city with many lovely places to give you a taste and pleasant stay in Namibia. However, one bad experience such at poor customer service at Hilton Hotel can be a turn off for the rest of your stay. In fact you will forced to cut change for hotels if you came on a business trip and you could easily cut your holiday short.
There are many more hotels/places with good offer/value for money, better customer services and comfort stay. In my option, definitely not Hilton hotel. I booked out the next day and enjoyed the rest of my business trip in a cheapest hotel, good customer care in short small but might.

Windhoek has a long colonial history, with interesting museums, galleries and landmarks. The natural history museum was my favourite.
The landmark German Lutheran Church, in the centre of town, is a wonderful place to visit.
It has too many restaurants to mention, but Joe's Beerhouse is the best. The variety of meats on offer, the atmosphere, the decor, absolutely everything is just so incredibly awesome! A MUST for any visitor to Windhoek.
One can easily get a cab, similar to Uber, called Lefa, which is extremely quick to respond and take you wherever you need to go.
Next time I would avoid being coaxed into taking a local taxi off the street, as the operators are mostly unreliable drivers and one can end up in dangerous areas such as the very poor locations.
I just needed to stay in Windhoek for a night before leaving the country. It delivered exactly what I needed, a clean, EXTREMELY spacious room, even with a shower and separate bath! This is a pretty large lodge, so the food is edible but not exciting. I think the staff did make up for that, they were friendly and quick. Breakfast had a huge variety, and wifi worked. The shower was good and the bed cosy (as all beds in Namibia). The pool was very inviting (actually quite gorgeous) but I didn't swim due to time limitations.
Casa Decha is a really amazing place to stay if you are in Windhoek. I stayed there almost a couple of weeks and everything was exceptional. The room was clean and stylish with its own kitchen. So you can cook and enjoy your meal. The staff was amazing and extremely accommodating. They went over and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. All in all, I was very pleased with my stay. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Windhoek and I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future. Thank you.
Comfortable bed. Host was non communicative. Drove around in taxi for half an hour as no physical address was given. Even asked two days before. Went to a hotel finally and had International phone charges over $50.00 USD talking to booking and finally they got through to host to get address. Security had no clue I was coming and host wanted me to pay cash to security. So another phone call because they would not take payment without talking to host. He doesn’t answer. Another hour hassle.
The hotel is located in the centre of Windhoek close to nice shops in Independence Avenue and to city highlights as Christuskirche and Independence Museum. It has a very good parking with access to the hotel. Check in and service from the reception staff was excellent. The hotel has a roof top restaurant with best view over Windhoek, amazing! Dinner and breakfast was very good. Wifi too. The room was spacious and with a nice view.
My stay at Hotel Uhland was just perfect. I particularly appreciated the kind, competent and extremely helpful staff. The location is great, near the city centre, with greenery, a fresh breez, and a nice terrasse for breakfast or other meals. My room had everything I needed. And the food prepared at Hotel Uhland was also nice and fresh. I will definitely choose Hotel Uhland again for future stays in Windhoek.
This hotel, about 1 km from the town centre in Windhoek, is an excellent choice. Large rooms (all with balcony or terrace), large beds of excellent quality, refrigerator, very good shower. Rooms are very clean and tidy. Location is in a side street of the big B1-road, hence it is quiet and safe. Breakfast is not in the hotel itself, but in the Stellenbosch-restaurant just opposite the street.
Location. Layout, bedroom on mezzanine level, but not suitable for disabled travellers … but this group also has studios which I understand are in just one level. Easy parking once you figure out how to get in … instructions for where and how to park are poor - it needs initiative or you’ll get lost. Handy for Independence Ave, the Main Street in Windhoek. Right next door to the Hilton hotel
Louisa's place was a great place to stay for work trip to Windhoek. It was well located in a quiet area 5-10 minutes taxi ride from the centre of town and within walking distance of a mall. I was there for two weeks and didn't want to stay in a hotel. The bedroom, living room and kitchen were separate so I had space to work and relax, and cook for myself. Perfect for my needs.
In the heart of Windhoek and a real home in Namibia. Staff was excellent and extremely helpful in organising my stay in Namibia. Room was spacious with an excellent view of the capital. The restaurant makes an important addition to the overall satisfaction with my stay. A roof top pool and bar: total relaxation. A jewel in the Hilton chain of hotels!
Big modern hotel near the biggest shopping mall in Namibia (The Grove Mall, Windhoek city). Easy for find and from hotel can walk to shopping mall very easy and fast (3-5 min direct road). Room have comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Have elevator. In morning you can order breakfast from hotel in small restaurant near lobby (for additional fee).
This was our second stay at Maison Ombre. It's very convenient for an overnight stay (or longer) in Windhoek before exploring more of Namibia (such a wonderful country). Beate was a great host, breakfast was excellent, what else can I say. We will certainly stay there again if (or hopefully when) we return to Namibia again. Highly recommend.
Excellent choice for our stay in Windhoek ! Great location, very cosy and nice dinners. I would like to thank the staff for the excellent work and in particular the help to get back the laptop we had forgotten in our hotel of Swakopmund ;) ! Five stars support ! Thank you again and keep up the excellent work !
This hotel was super cleaned with a great shower, and a fabulous breakfast at the bistro next door as part of the room rate. The concierge, Marvin, was fabulous! He works super hard to get you taxis, recommendations for restaurants, and anything else you need. He’s funny and sassy at the same time.
The lodge quickly accommodated our unexpected flight change and adjusted our stay. Theo was always very helpful in providing information and transportation, and seemed to care about helping the clientele enjoy their time in Windhoek.
It has the feel of a luxury hotel, rooms are large with a fantastic lighting system. The manager went out of his way to resolve a mishap I had with the booking platform
Brand new hotel, rooms were comfortable, great location in Windhoek. There is free self service onsite laundry and a pool, both of which were a very pleasant surprise.
