I was in Hsinchu due to some works so i did not plan to go to tourist spots much. Most of the time I was in the Science Parks, University and walk nearby my hotel. I stayed in the what local call the old street so there were mini night market and street foods, temples, one shopping mall. The Hscinchu train station (local train) and bus station were walking distance from the hotel. Mainly I used trains to travel to other cities from Hsinchu. The part of Hsinchu I stayed is a quiet laid back town.

The Hsinchu zoo is a nice place to spend the morning. It's small and compact but still worth a visit just to see the Bengal Tigers up close!
The God's temple in the middle of the city is an amazing experience although it is quite confusing to get to.

This township is full of nice Taiwanese street food and was good weather in December. You can engaged a local tour to bring you around which cost around NTD 8500 per day. With a group of 6 people, a small van is most convenient. Staying in the city or outskirt are different exposure. The seaview is magnificient!
The kids enjoyed Doraemon Science Park while the adults like to shop at the streets with nice and reasonable price clothing.
We had good food at Cheng Huang Miao.

It's not as busy as Taipei, but there is still so much to do. It's nice to walk around the city, looking at shops but also following the stream and underground path. It has a good atmosphere and very friendly people. Eighteen Peaks Mountain park is a wonderful place to visit which you could easily spend hours in. We stayed for 2 nights, but would have liked to spend 3-4 nights.

We travelled through and only stayed 1 night as we are cycling the route 1 around Taiwan. Great hotel to stay in near restaurants and also we were able to store our bikes safely. They also had washing machines and tumble dryers free of charge (buy detergent etc at hotel) only downside was breakfast but TBH we are a bit fussy so maybe it's us rather than hotel (we are from UK but I wouldn't pick chicken nuggets and chips as a breakfast option, unless I was hungover then it's a no brainer..)
Beautiful hotel in an ideal location. Less than 10 min of walk to the main train station, surrounded by beautiful parks, museums, shops, restaurants, temples and more. Unique architecture with many unique details, for example 5 floors tall breakfast room with windows on the ceiling. Rooms are very quiet and clean. Everything was working perfect, the lights, fridge, WiFi, air-conditioning, etc. Easy and comfortable 24h check-in, super fast check-out. Thanks to three elevators, you never wait longer than few seconds to go up or down.
The location of this place is great. The concept of the hostel is unmet and truly great. Sadly it is very small. The bathrooms are tiny and as staff is hardly ever on side not continuously clean. I think it's a very good Hostel but too expensive for what are you getting - at least in comparison to other places in Taiwan. Would I still return? For sure! I just really liked the concept of the place.
Just a warning: if you have a snorer in the room like I did, the wooden box-beds will make it sound even louder. Bring earplugs!
The location is convenient. A large shopping center called Big City, is near, within 10 min walking distance. The hotel is also near Taiwan Railroad Station which has train to connect with High Speed Rail in Zhubei city. The landmark of Hsinchu, the East Gate, and nearby River side park is also located within 15 min walking distance.
The bedroom had a comfortable leather sofa chair with ottoman. There were enough number of electric outlets.
There are three nice restaurants inside the hotel.
After 4 years of being away, the Lakeshore Metropolis is still one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in--and I've stayed in hotels in over 15 countries around the world. The staff is the highlight of this hotel. They are super friendly and always eager to be of service, especially the front desk employees. I will always stay here in Hsinchu when looking for a place.
The staff are accommodating and friendly; they are professional and very experienced with what they do. I have stayed there twice; the hotel
offers a mid-size fridge, which is very unusual but generous for travelers. I am sure that I will stay with them again the next time that I am in town again.
so comfy like home. they have lots of collections including mugs, books, decorations etc. love it so much. they have afternoon tea provided which not stated. located in the city center, super convenient to get food. toilet bathroom is big and super comfortable.
great facilities for families with kids. can spend all day in the hotel. staffs go out of way to make sure your family is well taken care of. kid was down with fever and they provided thermometer and ice pack, and offered local solution to alleviate the fever.
Walking distance to train station, some tourist attractions. Bus to/fro the fishery port just in front of hotel. Nice simple breakfast. Friendly n helpful staffs.
The location is very nice, around 10 mins walk to train station.
Hotel staff are nice, room is bigger than I expected.
The room is very clean and comfy.
The facilities were clean and the spaces were aired out and bright.
I met some Taiwanese college students at the hostel and we went out to a local pub!
