What a surprise! I came for Göbeklitepe but could have spent days roaming the maze of historic Old Town and the market areas. Unfortunately, all the museums are still closed after last year's earthquakes but there's still a plethora of historic buildings and attractions to enjoy. The local foods were incredible and local people very eager to interact with a visitor - even if only through Google Translate.

Sanliurfa is a large city.
Sanliurfa is a large city. I stayed in the historical center. One day is needed to learn to find your way around, among the nice narrow streets, the larger avenues. As I like walking 10 km per day , I did not make use of taxis and buses. Good shoes are required ! Anyway, taxis are everywhere, and buses are frequent (every 5 minutes ). For walking further away to touristical places like Göbeklitepe, Karahantepe, Harran, Halfeti, etc. : organized tours, buses or private accomodation .
Meals during the day, in many restaurants, or in shopping centers, all cheap, with fresh traditional food. Just not easy to get vegetarian meals, but many recipes are meat free (pide with cheese, or spinach, pizza with vegetables, for example, soups, shepherd's salad...).
season is very important : avoid Sanliurfa in full summer if you don-t like yoo hot ! sme tourists leave the city after 1-2 days because they were not aware of the temepratures... so have a close look to monthly temperature charts before choosing your period .

I'm so glad we added Urfa to our itinerary.
I'm so glad we added Urfa to our itinerary. It was very different from the other places we visited on our trip (Istanbul, Izmir, Göreme, Denizli, Kaş). It felt much more traditional and less cosmopolitan, but the people we interacted with were just as friendly, and we felt just as safe as we had in other parts of the country. There is a lot to see and do in the area. The archaeological museum is not to be missed; standing in their full-sized replica of Göbeklitepe felt magical. We appreciated having a rental car, to be able to drive down to Harran on our own. It seems that there is less English spoken in this part of the country than in Istanbul (e.g. in the restaurants and in the market), so it helps to have the Google Translate app with the Turkish dictionary downloaded ahead of time for offline use.

This is an amazing place.
This is an amazing place. Easy to believe you are close to the cradle of civilisation. Within walking distance you have a large Necropolis, 2 fabulous museums ( the ticket for one gives access to the other ) a great Eastern style bazzar, Abrahams birth cave, holy lake, a castle, Gobekli Tepe and much much more.

The archaeological museum was excellent and the mosaic...
The archaeological museum was excellent and the mosaic museum was also good. The historic Islamic architecture in the centre was very interesting. And the Gobekli Tepe archaeological site outside of town was fascinating.
However, I wouldn’t rate the local food as anything really special.
Everything was perfect! Clean room, hot water in the shower, good Wi-Fi and AC. Walking distance to the attractions in the city centre.
Most importantly, the hotel owner Musa and the staff were very friendly and diligent, they tried their best to help me out. I will definitely come back!
Bus number 0 to Göbeklitepe departs from the west of Sanliurfa Archeology Museum three times daily. It’s less than 15 minutes from the hotel on foot. As of today, the bus fare is 15 liras per person, pay cash to the bus driver.
We wanted to stay in a "Konak" like house. This family run hotel was just perfect for our need. We have been treated like family. Abbe Hassan was very protective since we were 2 women traveling solo. Showed us the good roads for driving by car around. We always had dinner even if we came late after a long expedition day. Çay was always on the table. The nights were so warm just sitting in the central place with a quite and cozy atmosphere. Thank you for making our stay so special!
A jewel of a boutique hotel at a heart of a beautiful city of Sanliurfa. It’s an antique small hotel with only 8 rooms and beautiful breakfast/tea area. The rooms are very beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious every day , home made using a local produce. Location is perfect , few steps to the market and historic sites. Staff absolutely amazing, they couldn’t do enough to make you comfortable. I really enjoyed the stay and I would love to come back there again.
This is a charming heritage hotel with very welcoming and helpful proprietors & staff. The breakfast was excellent! The hotel location was great - walkable to historic sites such as the Balikli Göl pool, Mevlid-I Halil Mosque, Abraham's Cave, and the Göbekli Tepe & Mosaic museums as well as restaurants and bazaars. Drove to Göbekli Tepe archaeological site - absolutely breathtaking! Very nice stay, would definitely return!
I was here three nights and loved my stay. The room was comfortable, WiFi worked the whole time, thee was a great hot shower, and truly lovely helpful staff. I recommend this place very highly! The hotel has a private parking lot but *** a warning to drivers- ask the hotel for directions- do not trust your GPS!!! (Google maps sent me down a very narrow pedestrian only street and I got stuck in my rental car omg)
After some unsuccessful overnights in this region during our trip, we were finally able to comfortably shower and sleep well at this hotel. Quite clean. There are minor shortcomings, but nothing critical. The staff is very good! There are plenty of parking spots right next to the hotel, so don't be afraid to turn off the main street. The view from the terraces is amazing, with rocking chairs available.
Kubra was amazing and helped us out throughout. As two women traveling we felt completely safe and it was walking distance from many places in the city and a few mins drive from others. You can reach the city by bus and then take a taxi to the hotel which would take 7-8 mins. The Turkish breakfast served was also really nice and the room was super clean and quite big.
The hotel is in the very center of Sanliurfa. You can also park in the parking lot right next to the hotel. The property is a 400-year-old Ottoman buidling with only five rooms.
The staff, Fuat, is very friendly and tries his best to help and communicate with us. The owner is also very kind and pleasant. Great people.
As soon as I enter the hotel, the smell for me is the smell of Sanliurfa! I feel welcomed, well looked after, happy. Huge improvement since I was there in March 2022; room was modern, spacious, clean and the view was excellent. Staff, as always, very helpful, welcoming and generous. This is the place to stay in Sanliurfa!!
The hotel feels brand new, beautifully designed and spotlessly clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Located in a quiet alley-way, walking distance to Abraham’s cave, market area and restaurants. A very comfortable place to stay and excellent value.
Excellent location close to historical objects, market and restaurants. Very supportive English speaking staff, offered tea and coffee any time we wanted. Very nice, authentic interior. Good fresh hot breakfast, that is not common in small Turkish hotels.
The hotel staff were very accommodating, breakfast on the terrace with beautiful view of the city. Location is very central, the bus from the airport stops next to the hotel. Clean room and very spacious.
