Silves is a pretty and traditional Portugeese town with history and architecture and facilities for the tourist. It is a good place to visit. The deserted and boarded up trainstation looks like something out of an old western. Taking the train in the Algarve is great, but sad that the people let their trainstations decay. This is an otherwise great inroad to Silves but two kilometers from town. A geographical oddity.

I am spending three months in Portugal, travelling around, and Silves is one of my favourite finds. I loved all the storks and their nests, the castle on the top of the hill, and the abundance of nature. Our favourite restaurant was Cafe Ingles near the castle where we had a late dinner. There is a coffee shop, Ana & Joana, in a corner by the castle, which served amazing upside down orange cake. The owner was very kind and accommodating and made the visit memorable.
We walked most of the time and found it easy to get around. When we were looking for the museum, I stepped into an art shop and the owner came out on the street to point me in the right direction.

Silves had a small, walkable, historic downtown area.
Silves had a small, walkable, historic downtown area. We stayed close to the historic area so we walked to coffee shops, the park and shopping. We had dinner at four different restaurants for our four nights in Silves but unfortunately none of them was a dinner that I would say was fabulous. We went up to the castle but there was a sign on the door saying "STRIKE" so it was closed. It is a wonderful location to stay if you are visiting the Algarve because it is centrally located.

As every review this villa is a must !!!
As every review this villa is a must !!!spotless inside and out plenty of loungers umbrellas around the pool. Fantastic eating area inside and out. Every possible utensil you would need. Check in and out so easy with such helpful owners. We were a family of 7. 5 adults and 2 children. The kids refused to go to the water park or the beach as they loved being in the pool from morning till night. All toiletries were on all bathrooms along with plenty of toilet rolls. Plenty of towels. Will we be back I really hope so. Thank you Joseph and your son Joseph for our wonderful welcome and our complimentary bottle of port and water. You do yourselves proud . Keep up the good work you put into your beautiful villa and thank you for allowing us to share special family time .

Not in Silves, about 10 minutes by car to the local village Sao Marcos which has bars and mini markets. Lovely walks all around.
No TV or washing machine. All condiments provided as well as providing us with bottles of wine and water when we arrived

The castle was great, clean and tidy and the views from there were excellant. The narrow streets were well supplied with interesting shops, many snack bars and some really great resturants.
Walks along the river were very pleasent with many storks gliding overhead.
The free car parking was much appreciated and the place seems to abound with pleasent friendly people
Absolute perfect Villa. Wonderful hosts, very accommodating and friendly. Villa was spotlessly clean, pool was great, games room/gym was fantastic. We loved sitting on the roof terrace watching the sunset. Surrounding area is very quiet, would recommend hiring a car to get around. Roughly a 15 minute walk to silves town, good choice of restaurants and a Lidl for shopping. Not got a bad word to say, perfect place for a family holiday. 10/10!!!! We will definitely be going back and recommending to friends! Thank you José & Rita 😊
From the moment we arrived in this magnificent space, we were greeted as family. The hotel is so beautiful and it takes you to special place. Breakfast was delicious and homemade. We had to come back for lunch. The fresh fish on the charcoal was one of the best we have ever had. We were walking distance to the castle. Great location. The hosts went over the top the make our stay most memorable. I can’t recommend enough. We will come back.
Don't hesitate to stay at this lovely and lovingly cared for small hotel in such a beautiful part of Portugal. The hosts live on site and take care with every detail. The landscaping is beautiful and natural and abundant with an intermix of plants - we picked and ate a pomegranate! Bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely - beds and sheets quite nice, beautiful private view out the sliding doors. So many thoughtful details.
Loved the pool, the games room, the outdoor kitchen. Rooms were big and stayed cool.
Short drive to a lovely beach and a water park.
Silves had great restaurants and a big supermarket with everything we needed.
Rita and Jose were very friendly and gave us their numbers in case we needed anything. Were flexible when we realised we had to check out earlier than we originally thought.
Everything was perfect. It was a beautiful stay. The staff was exceptional, the room was elegant with lots of space and a comfy bed. Breakfast was included and was exceptional as well. The service and the accommodations were exceptional. Just a short walk to the castle and a two minute walk to a free parking lot, the location was ideal to explore beautiful Silves.
The layout and architecture! We very much enjoyed the privacy and the small pool and having a nice dining and breakfast space outside. The design was fantastic!
The location inside Silves was great with walking distance to restaurants and food (supermarket and market)
Our host was great, communicated excellently and provided lots of helpful hints.
Lovely, spacious room with ensuite facilities, very clean with friendly hosts. Breakfast was a good selection, served on the upper balcony with views over looking the Silves valley. Lovely pool with mini bar area. Plenty of seating around the pool so you can catch the sun at all times of the day.
Nice people, easy location for walking round Silves and the Riad is a calm oasis. Lovely.
The first breakfast was a little unusual but partly because it was just too big and varied. Once we made it clear what we did and didn't like subsequent days were fine. Freshly prepared, good ingredients
Great views of Silves, great location for walking into town for food and coffee. Pool side was wonderful and relaxing. Staff were really helpful and friendly and drinks were cheap.
We had a fabulous private balcony with our room with amazing view of the Castle.
Wonderful little family run (?) hotel, mega helpful with decent safe motorbike parking. Heaving on Saturday night but space in restaurant for a decent meal. All staff tried hard to make us comfortable. Easy walk to the castle and an interesting town.
The lady at the property was very nice and sweet. I felt like the service was very personal and genuine. The breakfast is served in a room with an impressive wine cave. It is walking distance from the castle of Silves (about 20 minutes).
Property was spacious and well stocked. outdoor areas were lovely. The on site washer was a nice surprise. Silves was a great base for exploring the Algarve. while not on the coast, the town was quiet amd full of Medieval charm.
The location, within Silves, is pleasant and suggestive. A large free car park is nearby, very convenient. the temperature is wonderful, because you don't suffer from the heat. The house is clean.
The staffs were very friendly and the breakfast was very nice with sweet oranges and super delicious home-made cake (cannot stop eating the cake). The hotel is close to the river and city center.
The interior is gorgeous, it was clean, spacious, quiet and in a perfect location next to a big free parking lot. The breakfast was really good as well. highly recommend for a visit to Silves!
Beautiful location in the centre of town, wonderful views. Gorgeous garden. Silves is a lovely town, lots of lovely restaurants within walking distance of accommodation.
Our stay at Hotel Colina Dos Mouros was brilliant
The bedroom was a good size, clean and a lovely balcony
The pool area was good an the staff were very accommodating
Really centrally located in Silves, safe area at night. Beautiful home with great facilities. On a lovely slope but not the hill top; makes stork spotting easy
