It’s beautifully positioned in a garden setting with views to the mountains , the staff are a delight very attentive and friendly , and the foods great . There’s a library , inner courtyard garden filled with flowering pot plants , upper roof terrace aswell as the wrap around gardens and a dining area, the whole house is well laid out, spacious and has a lot of charm .The rooms are large and airy , mine had a balcony , wifi is good and showers hot . It’s near the city and it’s also possible to visit a nearby temple further up the road . The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome , comfortable and enjoy the stay .

I have been traveling a lot in my life, but I never saw such a beautiful city. Eventhough, the dramatical earthquake , all the buildings and temples have been fixed with the old materiel.
Walking by night in Bhaktapur in those small street is like to be in the middle age. Bhaktapur is a travel through the time.

Nice place to stay for a couple of hours.
Nice place to stay for a couple of hours. If someone like spiritual places, definitely the right location. A lot of places are still under construction, since the earthquake, so the 55th window palace was closed.

Bhaktapur is still recovering from the 2015 earthquake which created havoc with the local historic buildings. However, much has been done though. The place is doing it's best to get back into a reasonable position however COVID has taken its toll on the local industry and tourist venues (small shops and traders as well as the restaurants and hotels - a large number of which were closed when I visited.)
I have visited many times and it still retains a special charm - photographic opportunities are always present, whether the buildings, the people or the views of the mountains - still is a magical place.
Oh, (like other places in Nepal) the people are so friendly - they stop and ask if you need help but just want to be helpful, with no pushy sales pitch or offering of a ride to other local attractions.

The best part is always its food.
The best part is always its food. I just can't stop myself from eating Newari khaja set( Newari cultural food) and juju dhau ( special curd ) . Also, this time they had the facility of boating in Siddha Pokhari and it was a lot of fun paddling oneself.

One of the best places of Kathmandu.
One of the best places of Kathmandu. You will definitely want to stay longer than your original intend. We extended our stay there for 2 extra nights (4 nights in total) People are friendly, the old city is very beautiful. (If you intend to stay more than 1 night, be careful to ask to write down your passport number on your entrance ticket to the old city, otherwise you will have to pay the entrance multiple times..)

A number of attractions in old town well worth seeing.
A number of attractions in old town well worth seeing. Some earthquake damage has spoilt a few though. Some restaurants overpriced and over rated in certain guides. Typical of many places all over the world though. Short walks outside old town worth the effort. Out passed Ram Ghat to hill top gives good view of Himalayas, for instance and chance to see more local people untouched by tourism.
Very good location in Bhaktapur right next to the pottery square in the old town center (NPR 1‘800 per person for the entrance, valid for 7 days).
Luggage storage for free available when you want to do some trekking around Namo Buddha.
Friendly and helpful owner that also have a souvenir shop right next to the hotel. They help you with the local busses etc.
Card payment accepted without any commission.
Breakfast (pancake, yoghurt, banana and tea) available for 350 NPR per person, but you can also take in the in the cafe at the potters square
This guest house is in a fantastic location! It is right between Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Pottery Square- you can walk to many attractions and it is very easy to find. There is also a very nice café right across the road that serves very good coffee and has the absolute sweetest baristas! The room and attached bathroom was very clean and comfortable. There are plenty of outlets, there is water in the room, and the hot water in the shower works well. I would recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Bhaktapur!
1st of all the location is just perfect. It's within the Darbar Square.one can see the daylong movements around the Darbar Square. All of the tourist places are just walking distance from here. The staffs are amazing. The son of the owner (Mr. Kailas) manages the property and he is super helpful. The food here is also very good. We specially loved their coffee. Another good coffee is just beside the hotel, named Beans coffee. If I ever go to Bhaktapur again, I will definitely stay in Shiva Guest House.
It was a great decision to stay in this hotel and Bhaktapur for one night! I have enjoyed photography late night and early in the morning when it's quiet. Excellent location (right next to the square), with all the restaurants and stores within few meters walk. The most comfortable bed and fresh bed linen I have experienced in Nepal. Soft towels too! Needless to say that team was wonderful and helpful! Delicious breakfast on the rooftop was a nice surprise! And pardon my socks on the picture))
Was so excited to stay here, expecting very rustic but not dirty. The room was cleaned from the previous people as l could tell from the hairs on the sheets. The bathroom was filthy with no hot water, even though we asked several times. Also no toilet paper.
The location was in Durbar square which was great but before you get to your hotel you have to pay entrance to the square which was $45 for 3 days.
We checked out after one night.
- easily the best accommodation of our trip
- stunning location with beautiful views from our room
- very friendly, attentive and helpful staff
- very quiet (although that might be different when the hotel is fully booked)
- very nice room with large, comfy beds. Lots of space for our stuff.
- brilliant restaurant with excellent Italian and very good Nepalese cuisine
- excellent breakfast with a huge selection
I really like the breakfast here. I really don't eat breakfast in the hotel but here I eat. The rooms are very clean. The staff are very nice, kind and superb friendly. As an alone girl traveller, I feel very safe here . This location is the best as it excesses all parts of Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
If I came back to bhaktapur, I am going to stay here again. I will suggest if you come to bhaktapur, stay here.
I highly recommend this hotel central to Bhaktapur Durbar Square for its stunning rooftop view, clean rooms, delicious food, and exceptional hospitality. The location is perfect for exploring major destinations, and the rooftop restaurant offers a breathtaking view of Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay, making it the perfect choice for any traveler.
The room is very big and I had actually my first hot shower since a while being in Nepal.
The staff is so friendly and would try to do everything to make you comfortable.
After a long hike they even brought me delicious food I had never tasted before so that I could try it.
Don't hesitate stay a couple of nights in Bhaktapur. Beautiful place and a nice hotel.
The owner was very helpful in arranging my taxi, bus to take me to a temple, and provided info on what places to visit. He helped me to take my heavy luggage upstairs. The hotel is 2 min walk to the Durbar Square.
1 day is adequate in Bhaktapur.
The owner sourced me taxi driver to Nagarkot for 2000 nrp and a reasonable hotel in Nagarkot.
Great location in the heart of Bhaktapur. We liked the idea that it was a hotel training people on hospitality jobs. The hotel itself is really nice in an old monastery all refurbished. The room is well decorated and we liked all the little touchs. Hot water in the shower. The food was tasty.
Very neat hotel in a side street of Bhaktapur. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They did some laundry for a small fee. The room were spacious, clean and the beds were excellent! There was also a good hot shower.
really authentic Nepali ambience living in the 600 year old hotel, especially the deluxe suite we booked with bay window overseeing the yard and square.
very good mantained and comfortable for such old building
Very welcoming family who went out of their way for us. Amazing location, beautiful room and good facilities. We wished we could have stayed longer.
Bhaktapur is such an interesting place!
Friendly host, flexible about check in - out process, gives good advices about Bhaktapur and the surrounding places. Felt like the home away from home!
