Riga is a very attractive city with a picturesque Old Town and a newer area which includes many beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. There are many nice parks and green spaces. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants and prices are reasonable. As well as Latvian and Russian, English is widely spoken. Public transport - buses and trams - is very efficient and inexpensive. Walking around is easy though many areas in the Old Town are cobbled and might prove difficult for some. One hazard is people travelling around very fast on e-scooters that are almost silent and can rush up behind you without warning.

Riga is a very photogenic city. The buildings are gorgeous and there are some great surprises when you explore on your on. I never take an organized tour.
Plenty of restaurants.
I cooked in most of my meals.
But the food in the city is very good.
Walk the Riga Canal! Always beautiful no matter what time of year.
I personally like "Lido" which is near the beautiful Orthodox church.
It has been a favorite since my first visit to Riga.

Loved walking around the old town, the 'quiet centre', central market. We didn't plan our visits very well because all museums are closed on Monday so we didn't get to see as many as we had hoped.
We took the train out to Jurmala (beach) which was lovely but we were blessed with great weather.
Learn to say 'hello' and 'thank you' in Latvia. It goes a long way.
Latvians are very polite and we found Riga to be extremely clean.
Oh, great coffee too!

Very pleasant small hotel right in the centre of the old town of Riga, close to the stop of the airportbus (Nr. 22).
I had a very quiet room, with a pleasant sitting corner and a desk. The bed was good, but not really perfect, a small minus in my overall very good appreciation. Staff is very friendly and helpful, a complete buffet breakfast is served, and the hotel is extraordinaroly clean, inside and outside. Wifi is flawless. The hotel has a very pleasant lobby including a library.
The appartment was super cosy, clean, you have everything for a comfortable stay. The old town is near by, bars, restaurants, shopping malls, parks, the city market.
It was very pleasant to come back "home" after a long day in the city, to a warm bath. The stuff was available on wats app, and very helpful in everything.
Thank you, if we are back to Riga, you are our place to stay!
The hotel is a very convenient location for daily walking journeys as it is near the edge of Riga Old Town as it only takes many minutes' walk to reach Riga Town Hall Square. Also the hotel is near the Central Bus and Railway Stations thus a convenient venue for travelling. In fact it took me a few minutes' walk to leave the hotel and reach the International Bus Terminal.
Hotel is located in perfect place to reach old Rigas city part.
It took us 2-3 minutes to reach all main old town street and architecture gems.
Room was nice and tidy, fridge was filled with drinks, and prices were reasonable.
Breakfast was good as well, plenty of food to choose.
Staff polite, helped to receive lefted presents in room after check out.
Location is very good if you want to hang around in the old town and central part of Riga! If you come by car, indoor Europark is right next door with reasonable pricing (and cheaper that some other hotels offer in their own parking lots). Although I had the window towards the street, it was unbelievably quiet. Room had toiletries, good shower etc.
This hotel has genuine and wonderful character in an ideal Old Town location - make sure you stay in a traditional room with exposed beams for the full experience. The reception team are outstanding and made our stay in Riga a relaxed and enjoyable experience. The roof top restaurant is a destination in its own right so book in advance!
We were really happy with our stay here. The hotel is just one step away from the old town, right next to the building, you will find one of the most popular restaurants in Riga. The room itself is exquisite, decorated with the art nouveau style. Staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfast is lovely as well.
perfect location in the center of the old town of Riga.
quite big apartment, huge king size bed, very comfy. we were worried about noise from the bar below the apartment, but it was quiet and calm. tons of restaurants and bars close by, magnificent historic buildings.
I can recommend this property!
The location of The Grand Palace Hotel is superb for exploring Riga Old Town with so many top sights and restaurants all within easy walking distance. Connection to the airport is easy by local bus No 22 or if one prefers the hotel can arrange for private transfer.
Good budget stay in Riga. Good window views all around the building, even if you don't have a park-view room. The hotel is located next to a tram and bus stop, and there's a good and frequent connection to Old Town and the opposite side of the river Daugava.
Very pleasant and helpful staff. The buffet breakfast catered for every taste; sweet, savoury and a selection of Latvian dishes.
The location in the old town was perfect with bars, restaurants and sights within a few hundred yards of the hotel.
Very well situated, near the old town and duite reachable with. There really ain't cheap parking places near Riga's old town but what can you do (hint : Origo shopping center is quite near and parking there is safe and less than half a price)
The hotel is located in the old town, close National Opera and Ballet, Riga Central Market․ The breakfast at the hotel was perfectly organized, and you can also have lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Great business type hotel, good location near old town, comfortable bed, the window in the room can be opened, tasty breakfast, quiet spacious room, affordable price. Very recommended.
Hotel close to Old Town Riga.
Modern and upmarket - good value for money.
Large comfortable room with good selection of refreshments and amenities.
Breakfast selection excellent.
Decent hotel in a quiet area. I had an early bus from Riga and this hotel was less than a 5 min walk. Around 10 min walk to the old town.
Room was big and clean. Stuff is great
Our room was very comfortable and the location of the hotel was very good. Close to old town, the market, and both bus and train stations. The breakfast was excellent.
