ALBERGO 900Strati, hotel in Bergamo

Featuring a bar and views of city, ALBERGO 900Strati is located in Bergamo, 1.2 miles from Centro Congressi Bergamo.

The breakfast was OK, from 07:30-09:30. The staff was really friendly. The location, if you want to see the old town, was great. You can walk all the way to the top, in both directions. You can also walk half-way and then take the tram at Funicolare Città Alta (usually long queue). I will post tourist map, X marks the Hotel. There is free street-parking close to the hotel, and also a pay-parking if you can't find any spots in the free one. There is bus stop right next to the hotel. I post picture of the bus routes (It's hard to read, www.atb.bergamo.it for more info). The restaurant, in the same building, was also really good food

FAQs about hotels in Bergamo

A Bastion of Old World Charm

The arrival point of low-cost airlines with cheap flights to Milan, beautiful Bergamo is a tourist destination in its own right. In the foothills of the Alps, the city is spread over 2 levels. The main sights are in the upper level, or Città Alta, where sloping, cobbled streets open into pretty squares.

One such square is Piazza Vecchia with its sidewalk cafés, beautiful library and elegant Palazzo della Ragione. Through its arches is the Cappella Colleoni, an impressive chapel with an ornately sculpted façade and even more ornate interior. The nextdoor Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore has awe-inspiring frescoes.

Surrounding streets contain several Bergamo old town hotels and B&Bs, while surrounding the whole upper city are 17th-century Venetian walls. There are still remains of the Rocca, the castle that guarded them, and there is also a castle in San Vigilio, a hilltop village reached by a cable car.

A cable car also descends to the modern town, Città Bassa. Nearby is the Accademia Carrara, a fine art gallery, across from the GAMEC modern art museum. The Serie A club Atalanta FC plays in a stadium to the northeast, while southwest is the train station where buses to Orio al Serio Airport depart.

Booking.com has several Bergamo hotels near the airport and the neighboring Orio Center shopping complex.

    Beautiful town, especially Alta.

Beautiful town, especially Alta. We found this location great for using public transport. We took the train to Milan on one day and a train to Lake Garda another day. The people are friendly and lots of choice for food and drinks.

Bergamo is split into 2 parts Bassa and Alta.

Bergamo is split into 2 parts Bassa and Alta. The lower part (Bassa) is bigger, busier, more modern but still great to visit ( a must see is the Accademia Carrara- wonderful paintings that you can get amazingly close to). The tourists head for Citta Alta which is the stunning fortified old town perched on top of a steep hill with cobbled, narrow streets, beautiful Piazzas, cafe, restaurants and stunning architecture. A great place just to stroll around, meander along the back streets or walk along the ancient Venetian walls. Day-trippers disappear at night and many groups stay in Bergamo Bassa leaving it much quieter and very pleasant at night in the old town with loads of good eateries, bars, cafes and gelaterias to visit. If you're there ay 10pm listen to the bells of the Campanone, Palazzo del Podestà in the Piazza Vecchia, tolling 100 chimes- a reminder of the old curfew when the town gates where due to close, yes they still;l do it every night and we loved the sound of the bells. Top reason we stop in Bergamo is it's location. and it's brilliant connections by train, bus or flights. We arrived by train from Ravenna and got a town bus from opposite the main train station up to the top Citta Alta for 1.75 euro and later flew out from Bergamo Orio al Serio airport. You can get a bus direct to the airport from the top of the old town or at various stops down through the town to opposite the train station- costs 3euros one way , so cheap and super convenient. TOP TIP if you're going to the airport and staying in the old town then join the bus at the start of the route at Colle Aperto (next to La Marianna ice cream cafe) because the bus gets super busy on the way down and picks up so many people that you can't move by the time you get to Bergamo Bassa. I wouldn't recommend taking the bus if you've got large suitcases or lots of luggage as it just gets too crowded and you may not be allowed on.

Although I have been to Bergamo 24 years ago, I don't remember it being so beautiful and interesting. The Architecture is amazing, with beautiful, grand buildings almost everywhere you look in the city centre and so clean and attended to. Wonderful variety of cafes and restaurants along the main street, with a very effective, regular bus timetable which we used every day to get to and from Citta Alta where we stayed. The train station had regular trains that took us to Milan 45 minutes away and also to the mountains and lakes. Bergamo Citta Alta is also beautiful with many buses going to and fro every 10 / 15 minutes from the city. Food and service in both areas are really very good and although the staff appreciated my Italian attempts, most spoke English. Food and travel were also good value. Recommend train ride to Varenna on Lake Como, absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to go to Bergamo again.

It may just have been the time of year we went (April) but very few restaurants in our immediate area stayed open late. We arrived at one at 9.20pm to be told that they were shortly closing the kitchen! By the time we got to another we were told we would have to chose quickly what we wanted to eat as they were closing soon. So we felt quite rushed to choose and eat. We ate at Vox restaurant on 2 nights which was very nice and they stayed open late. The nearest supermarket advertised as closing at 9pm but would not let us in for just one item at 8.45pm! The area was ideal to use as a base to visit other areas; Milan, Lake Garda and Lake Como and also nearby Verona Citta alta was lovely though although we only went there in the daytime so can't comment on places to eat an evening meal.

Beautiful new town with many shops and cafes. And a very interesting old town with 12th-13th century architecture, narrow streets and beautiful churches. It sits on a high hill and has stunning views of the new town. There are plenty of cafes and pizzerias where you can try delicious pizza and eat a delicious cake.

An amazing B&B in Bergamo. We are a family x 6 (2 x adults & 4 x children) 2 bedroom suite was spacious, clean and well appointed. Central location in Citta Alta and the private garden area has table tennis, sun loungers and was the perfect spot for breakfast each morning. The staff were friendly, flexible and provided a top notch service. Recommend the fresh daily breakfast with fresh fruit, meats, breads, cheeses, cereals, yoghurt,, tea and coffee. Highly recommended and will be back. Thank you for an amazing stay in Bergamo.

The room was big and comfortable, we had to book it last minute and there was only a room for 2 with one double bed, and we were travelling with our 2 year old daughter, so we were 3, but the bed was big enough to sleep comfortably. There is a restaurant at the hotel, we didn't try it as we only were there one night but it had a nice menu and it was very convenient to have it at the hotel. The location is very good, next to the train station, and to take the bus to the airport and to the old town (Bergamo alto)

Great location, near the city center and 18min away from Citta Alta Bergamo. Situated on a street with nice and old vintage arhitecture houses, all renovated, restaurants, bars and even a Carrefour market 5min away. Bergamo Airport is at 30min away and the bus station is near, round about 10min. Central train station is at 25min by walk. The building is all renovated, redecorated inside-out, nice and cozy design, warm enough, clean all over the place! Strongly recommend it! It was such a nice experience!

This is a wonderful place to stay in Bergamo. Would definitely come back. The place in well organized with reception, shared patio to hang out, luggage room and self-service bar. The crew in the reception were extremely nice and helpful, even though our room wasn't ready on time because of a booking error. The apartment itself was well furnished, modern and clean. The location is good, it is very close to Citta Alta, and close enough to Citta Bassa (about 15 minutes walk).

Room was looking great, clean and furniture was ok. Bathroom was clean, towels ready, bed was comfortable. There was also some kitchen equipment to use (we did not, because we did not need to). Everything was nice overall. Best thing was DANIELA (host/owner). She was very nice woman, she explain everything to us and was really helpfull (we got some issues in Italy). She really help us a lot, despite we are strangers to her basically. So we are very thankfull.

Brilliant location in the beautiful historic old town - no wonder it is Capital of Culture 2023 - it’s a very classy hotel - the rooms are superb - we had the Superior Double with a sofa bad and it was very spacious and comfortable for 3 adults.
