This is a superbly restored Syracuse house from its historic island of Ortigia, in a place that harks back to the ancient Greeks, Roman, Arab period, Norman... to nowadays, a continuously inhabited area for millennia, where you can feel the history through the property's features painstakingly restored with fittings updated for modern living, excellent furniture, comfortable bed, and superb kitchen. The place is close by everything, from historic places like the Duomo, to the market, restaurants, shops, significant historic architecture. The hosts, Maria Giovanna and her partner, were enormously helpful, patiently waiting for us late in the night to pick us up from the station, to recommending restaurants and a multitude of useful information about getting by and making most of our time in Syracuse. This was one of the best, if not the top notch, places for cultural travellers, I stayed in Italy. Warmly recommended!

Lovely traditional family home with lots of space & good facilities. Nice touches by host to leave fruit, water, sweets etc. Comfortable double bed. Good location for the bus & train station - especially if catching an early train or the bus to Etna. Easy walk to centre of old town for good restaurants. Good value stay.
