Sardinia in a Nutshell
The Sardinian capital, Cagliari has a historic old town, busy port and one of the island’s best beaches. The sweeping stretch of sand at Poetto has great summer nightlife, and just inland is Molentargius lagoon, where flamingos nest against the backdrop of the city.
Cagliari is spread over a small hill and the oldest part – Quartiere Castello – lies at the top. There are far-reaching views from Bastion San Remy, its main entrance point. Medieval city walls lead from here to the simple cathedral, and nearby is the 18th-century Palazzo Regio.
By one of the original city gates is the National Archaeological Museum, housing a collection of Phoenician and Roman artifacts from the city’s Tuvixeddu Necropolis. There are also displays of the nuraghic civilization whose former dwellings pepper Sardinia. The most impressive is Su Nuraxi north of Cagliari.
Just outside the walls are remains of a Roman amphitheater, next to the university botanical gardens. Orange tree-lined streets descend the hill towards the seafront where restaurants and bars can be found. Cagliari FC play at Sant’Elia Stadium along the coast and opposite is the Sardinia International Fair, an important conference venue.

A truly Mediterranean city, warm and full of life and positive vibes. It's history and culture deserve much more respect than it actually receives. Some spots are neglected (particularly Bastione San Remi), the roads are not in the best shape and overall there is a sense of neglect. Luckily the locals with their helpful attitude make up for the minuses which most probably are created by the local authorities.

Easter is a good time to visit, warm but not too hot. Cagliari is quite hilly, we took a tuk-tuk tour, €70 for one hour, well worth the money to see all the key highlights in the town without being too strenuous.

Cagliari is an old city. It is walkable, even though hilly. Most attractions are within walking distance. The weather is temperate. During January, February and March, possibility of rain is high. Archaeological remains dating to Roman times are very interesting, as well as the botanical garden, which is one of the best organised in Europe.

Cagliari offered everything ! Great transport facilities, if required. I love to walk, hence i walked to Poetto beach and all surrounding areas very easily. I found everyone very friendly and welcoming, and ate in many restaurants in the city centre and surrounding areas. All of them were very good, facilities were spotless. I highly recommend visiting Cagliari, it is a wonderful off season destination especially if you do not enjoy crowds !AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Cagliari is an enchanting pearl in the centre of Mediterranean sea. Lots of history attractions, from nuragic age (3000 A.C), to pre-roman, Roman and mediaval times; finishing with the still visible scars of WWII. There is also the presence of serious decent museums and theatres. Amazing weather, increble 10km of sandy beaches, full pf coffe bars, little reaataurants, clubbing happy hours and almost everting for any open air activity and sport. Do not panic if locals are always loud and use to repeat the same thing at least three times :D

The air conditioner was splendid and easily adjustable.. The bed was so comfortable. And the breakfast was HUGE! A special ‘shout-out” has to go to Gabriel who let me stow my bags as I arrived several hours early. His suggestions on what to do and see in the meantime were so enthusiastic. If I return to Cagliari, I’ll definitely stay at Bluemoon Sardinia.

The Hosts were top people who made this stay a lot less stressful by communicating with us prior and once arrived told us everything we needed to know.
