As usual Ibis delivers great value for the money. Clean rooms and really friendly staff. Great breakfast and the overall atmosphere/decor is absolutely top notch for the price point. We regularly use ibis when we travel for my son’s tennis tournaments and the experience is so consistent we never dare change brands. Kudos!

With arguably the most impressive Roman heritage outside Rome, Nîmes is truly a sight to behold. Its most awe-inspiring structure is the virtually intact Roman amphitheater. The gladiators are long gone, but a matador statue outside gives an idea of its current use, which is most celebrated during the annual Feria.
Another amazing Roman monument is the Maison Carrée, a colonnaded temple. The Temple of Diana is less well preserved, but still maintains some of its arched roof and interior details. The peaceful, surrounding Fontaine Gardens cover the grounds of the former Roman baths and still contain elegant water features.
Speaking of water, the incredible Pont du Gard is a triple-arched Roman aqueduct crossing a river northeast of Nîmes. Other Roman remains include the Tour Magne, and 2 gates that allowed access through the city walls.
The Nîmes Archaeological Museum in the former Jesuit college provides background to this history and also houses the Warrior of Grezan, a pre-Roman statue. Another museum houses a fine arts collection, and the simple cathedral is also worth visiting.
In addition to plenty of restaurants and bars, Nîmes has a good range of accommodations. Booking.com’s options include luxury hotels by Parc Expo Nimes, and cheap apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport.

Amazing town with antiquities, parks & museums, and also a super hub with great rail and bus connections. Walkable (even in the mid summer heat) with lots of places to eat or drink out and watch the world go by.

Full of Roman history, monuments in Nimes are within a walkable distance. Worth buying the Discovery pass which gets you into the amphitheatre, Roman museum, Maisonette Carree and Tour Magne. The pass can be bought from whichever site you first visit.
Also visit the Jardins de la Fontaine. The park is extensive and very impressive and you can see the natural spring that used to be the water source. We found the Castellum where the Romans brought the water supply into Nimes via the Point du Gard. From a central chamber the water was fed out to areas in Nimes through lead pipes. It's amazing to still see where the outlets for the pipes were.
From the bus station in Nimes we went on bus number 121 to Pont du Gard. This is one trip that's a must!! We got off at Vers Pont du Gard. The bus stop names are well displayed on the bus well in advance of the stop. From there was about a 10 minute walk to the visitor centre and another 10 to the aqueduct. There is a cinema and museum in the visitor centre. The museum was quite interesting but the film in the cinema seemed a bit pointless.
We also took the 130 bus to Arles. We bought a Liberty pass that got us into 4 monuments and 1 museum. We did the amphitheatre and the theatre, where we sat with our picnic lunch. The cryptoportiques, where you get to wander in the underground cellars, was more extensive than we had thought it would be. We decided on the Alyscamps for our 4th monument visit. Tombs of Roman and Christians lined the avenue leading out of Arles. Would have liked some more information on what some of the inscriptions could have been.
In Nimes visit Les Halles. This indoor food market has a superb display of produce and even if you are not buying, is well worth the visit.

Nimes is great for a few days; enough museums and Roman history to keep anyone amused for a couple of days (including children) - the town itself is relatively small but has good connections by bus and train to other areas worth exploring. The Tourist Information will provide advice on how to get there.
A combined ticket for the Roman remains and the museum is great value - especially if you engage with the audio guides.

Nimes was much more than we bargained for.
Nimes was much more than we bargained for. We were lucky enough to be there during a festival so each night there were concerts (free) and food and wine stalls. The city is a lively place but relaxing at the same time, I felt refreshed after my few days there and also managed to see way more than I realised was there. You can walk everywhere and also it is very safe at night. There are many fine restaurants and bars.

I've been to Nîmes several times, but this stay was just an overnighter to catch my flight the following day. Nîmes is a very walkable city with a relaxed vibe and many pedestrian areas and green spaces. In the short time I was there, I explored the city center, it's beautiful parks and gardens, and old Roman town center. I discovered a great local brasserie called La Réserve on Blvd. Amiral Courbet with a lovely tree-lined view, friendly staff, excellent food, and vibrant neighborhood flavor. I'll definitely be back to discover more!
Great small hotel run by a very nice English couple. I liked the little balcony overlooking the street where you can sit and have a coffee /glass of wine. I liked the old fashioned wooden furniture and prefer this to some of the modern, less substantial offerings in many similarly priced hotels. I had the express breakfast which was good value if you don't want a lot to eat. There is a tray in the room with a kettle, tea/ coffee etc. Easy to explore Nimes from here with the Arena a few minutes walk.
This place is amazing!! We loved that it was right in the middle of the "centre-ville" next to everything. 3 minutes to the Arena, 3 minutes to the Maison Carré and shops all around. The apartment had everything, was beautiful and we absolutely loved the balcony. The air conditioning worked great and we slept better than we have on our whole trip in France. The host was nice and the building is beautiful. Definitely will stay here again on our next trip to Nimes!!
The room was furnished and decorated really nicely, cosy and comfortable. The whole hotel was clean and tidy.
Bathroom was well appointed.
Parking for us is very important and this is ultra safe and secure and worth the 10e per night.
The host replied to messages quite quickly and was very friendly but spoke little to no English! Time to brush up on school French!
Nimes is beautiful and we wish we could have stayed longer.
Absolute paradise, such a beautiful place. The hosts Philippe and Luce are amazing and make sure your stay is comfortable and relaxing. Luce is also an amazing cook (we had a meal cooked by her one night which was delicious!). The breakfast every morning is a true highlight (the best we had during our stay in France). The pool is just perfect and has stunning views across the gardens. We would definitely stay here again :).
Everything was great, as shown in photos!
Also to Highlight that we were left with plenty of cold water bottles which was a really nice touch considering the extreme hot weather in Nimes those days. We would recommend the place. We found a parking spot in front of the apartment and left the car there during our hole stay.
Beds were comfy and the AC worked perfectly too.
A 5-star crash pad! Small efficiency apartment suitable for 2 (close) adults with coffee(!), fridge, stovetop, washer and dryer, TV, internet and on-steeet parking. Ten-minute walk to city center. Ideal for adult traveler/s wanting to explore Nimes. The proprietor is excellent with his communication and attentive to his guests without being intrusive.
The front desk staff, Emeline and Olivier were amazing! they helped us and took care of our hospitality needs several times and always while being genuinely kind and professional. The perfect location with parking right next to the hotel and thankfully with a special rate for the guests of the hotel.
Location was an easy walk to the historical old town. Breakfast was good with very good variety. Hotel has a long driveway so is setback from the traffic and noise. This gave it a bit of an oasis setting, but it was a bit more difficult to find. Lots of free parking. Room met our needs.
Nice facilities with a good pool.
Excellent bed and bath facilities. Family friendly.
Elevators and aircons were good. Reception is 24h.
Hearty breakfast options.
Parking is safe and fantastic.
Location perfect for us - close to drive or uber to historical centre
A great hotel! So clean and comfortable and the staff really nice, they even let us check in a lot earlier than normal and we got to rest for the morning, which we really needed. This is definitely the place to stay in Nimes!
.The room was large, clean, and simple and in a great location. It was excellent value. Great communication on parking. The hotel provided excellent parking instructions. Very reasonable pet fee of 7€ for a 1 night stay
Dorothy was a fabulous helpful host. Excellent location close to the centre of Nimes with private parking on site. It had an outside sitting area. The room is kept clean with a kettle. A pool is an asset in July.
Lovely hotel close to the centre of Nimes, with a great pool and hot tub, and super buffet breakfast on the terrace. Bedrooms are pretty and comfortable, private parking, A/C, friendly and helpful staff.
a lovely hotel, perfectly placed for walking around Nimes. Staff are friendly and helpful, they also deliver quickly if asked for something which is often rare. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend.
I liked everything about this hotel. It was fabulous, as expected. Class from arrival til departure. 2 nights rounding off 10 day trip to Nimes and Montpellier. It is 5 star hotel for a reason.
The hotel is in a great location if you are needing to be close to the train station. And it's only a short walk to the arena and other attractions in Nimes.
