Sehr freundliches Personal. Das Frühstück war sehr gut.
At the start of Bavaria’s scenic Romantic Road, Würzburg is an elegant city with monuments attesting the power of the Church. On a green hill west of the city center is Marienberg Fortress, the former seat of the ruling prince-bishops. Now, it houses the Mainfränkisches art museum and overlooks the statue-lined Old Bridge crossing the Main River below.
But its the home of the prince-bishops that really steals the show. The opulence of the Würzburg Residence and its landscaped gardens have earned it a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The surrounding U-shaped park extends all the way around the historic center.
This park is the first thing you see when leaving the train station, and nearby is the Röntgen memorial commemorating the physicist who discovered X-rays while teaching at Würzburg University, one of the oldest in the country.
Also one of Germany’s oldest is the Würzburger Stein vineyard outside the city. Some of the region’s signature Franken wine can be sampled in the cellar of historic Julius Spital hospital. Nearby is the Falkenhaus and the neighboring Church of Our Lady borders the main square. The cathedral is much larger and has its own museum.
Booking.com’s places to stay in Würzburg includes luxury spa hotels, guesthouses with parking, and cheap hostels.
A lovely small city that feels friendly and charming.
A lovely small city that feels friendly and charming. We happened to be there for Flasching/Carnival, which was quite wild and involved a procession and people dressing up and perhaps a bit of drinking! The next day everything was clean and running normally apart from the occasional late night reveller dressed as a banana making his/her way home on the SBahn. The Residenz and the Castle were well worth the visit. as was the Cathedral/Dom and the old Bridge.

The city is fantastic - historically and vibrant, a lot of younger people everywhere although it was September. Especially in the evening the old bridge is crowded and it was very interesting to join the crowd. After a long sightseeing day this is a great end of the day. The restaurants are full and good food and wine are served everywhere. It is a must to stay in the hotel in the center so you can enjoy the evening walk. And what was a surprise: people are carrying their glasses of wine while walking arround, not only on the old bridge. The restaurants on the banks of the river are especially crowded and booking the table is needed.

We love Wurzburg and have been here many times.
We love Wurzburg and have been here many times. It is a university town and is busy but is still charming. The town is easily reached by long-distance train from Frankfurt Airport and is well connected to serve as a base for visiting other nearby towns as day trips. There are several hotels reasonably priced within a few minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof. The Altstadt is within easy walking distance from the Hauptbahnhof, there are plenty of restaurants, great shopping, beautiful churches, the medieval fortress overlooking the city which is surrounded by vineyards, and of course the spectacular Residence (one of the most important baroque palaces in Europe). The city was pretty much destroyed by Allied bombing during WWII. The reconstruction is incredible. The locals are friendly and welcoming. The town is very scenic surrounded by vineyards and on the river. The local wine is excellent! We will return to Wurzburg again.

Wurzburg is a vibrant town with lots to do from having a vino on the Old Bridge and watching the cruise ships negotiate the lock, to feasting your eyes on the glorious court chapel in the Residence palace, to wine tasting on the river with the locals in Randsacker, to climbing the 250 steps and doing the Stations of the Cross up to the old Kapelle Wallfahrtskirch and as we left, a rock concert was being set up. Something for everyone.

This was about my 8th visit to Würzburg, having made friends with some nearby residents years ago.
Würzburg is the best Bavarian town you've never heard of - easy to reach via Nüremberg airport, train station a few minutes walk from all the sights, plenty of hotels, the amazing Residenz, Festung Marienburg, many churches, the Main river, great architecture whichever way you turn.
Easy to reach nearby picture postcard towns like Marktbreit, Iphofen, Rothenburg ob der Tauber for a day trip by train.
The golden spot for eating is right by the Main, with the Alte Krane, Locanda, and Alte Mainmuhle restaurants. The Altebrucke is a must, where people go to be seen with the local white wine. It also leads you to the stepped walk up to Festung Marienburg where the breathtaking views of the city, the Main, and the surrounding vineyards make great photos.
Everyone thinks of Munich and Nüremberg in Bavaria, and they are great in their own right, but Würzburg is somehow more "real" all over than, say, Munich in Oktoberfest.
Location to the Old Town part of the city. Right on the main Boulevard but a short walk to the old town. I've stayed there twice and they offered me covered parking for my motorcycle. Right across the street from a nice bar with out door seating. I was returning to the hotel and felt like a small ice cream. All the local places had just closed but, when I asked, the hotel kitchen found me three scoops of ice cream. That was nice.
It was a very straightforward hotel. We only stayed for 1 night, so didn't have time to explore all facilities. The room was small, but nice and we liked the breakfast. We could park just outside the hotel for free, so that was great and public transportation towards the city centre was easy. I thought it was quite expensive for just 1 night.. but apparently all decent hotels in Würzburg are!
My room was on the 15th floor. The view was magnificent.
The breakfast was great. I was in another hotel before GHotel. The breakfast menu was the same in both hotels.
Room was clean and large. However, its design could be better (i.e and additional table in the room could fill the space and make the life easier). The kitchen in the room was cozy and nice.
Excellent location on edge of city with very good access to Wurzburg centre by bus. Modern, well-equipped hotel with excellent pool and spa facilities. Good-sized room, quiet and very clean. Hotel is situated next to a large open green space leading to an interesting new housing development, an example to others!
Hotel it’s self was excellent, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, good size rooms, clean and quiet. The location is great for access to Wurzburg centre and the river. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Swimming pool snd sauna also great and again spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Nice and simple place to overnight in magnificent Würzburg, the location is very convenient. The lady at the reception was very generous — I arrived 2 hours before official check in time, but the room was ready and i could move in immediately, after sleepless night trip it was very helpful
Really recommend this hotel. Quiet, clean, and comfortable. Good value. Helpful, friendly staff. A superb breakfast. Very centrally located for all sights in the Altstadt. About 20 mins walk from the Hauptbahnhof. I would definitely stay here again if I am back in the area.
The location was a little out of town but the view from the balcony was great. The apartment had good, clean facilities and was located in a relatively new apartment block. It was very quiet. Wurzburg is a fascinating city so allow 2 days if possible.
Room: nice and clean; non-smoking; bathroom: nice herbal shampoo and soap, containers filled up. Spare towels. Location was easy to be found by car. Parking at the hotel's premises. Late check-in is possible, hotel is available on phone any time.
Very average hotel. The location was very good as I needed something very close to the central station. Other than that, it was not worth the money. The windows were old and it felt like the wind and cold was coming inside the whole night.
Clean, quiet hotel. Spacious, contemporary room. Attentive staff. Lovely town. Good location: near enough to Frankfurt airport that, even after an international flight from the USA, we could easily drive here for our first night.
The room was very clean! Are the beds were comfortable and the size of the room was good. The location is also fantastic as it's right in the center of Würzburg and you can walk everywhere.
Breakfast was excellent and you cannot beat the location. It is near the city center without being in the middle of it. We easily walked the old part of Wurzburg from the hotel.
The room was neat, clean, and modern. The location of the hotel was great. We were in walking distance of the Residential Palace and many other attractions.
