Surrounded by Lake Geneva and glorious Alpine peaks, tranquil Montreux has enchanted artistes through the ages. Lord Byron was so inspired by the style and setting of waterfront Château de Chillon that he wrote a poem about it. Nowadays it is one of Switzerland’s most popular attractions.
Freddie Mercury also fell in love with Montreux and a lakefront statue in Place du Marché commemorates this former resident in typical pose, with one arm raised to the heavens. Queen fans flock here for the annual Memorial Day, just one musical festival hosted by this town. The most famous is the 2-week Montreux Jazz Festival, held in the Music & Convention Centre.
On the opposite side of town is Audiorama (the Swiss National Audiovisual Museum), near a funicular railway which climbs the hill. Further up the slopes is the family-friendly Rochers-de-Naye ski area, while the Les Pléiades pistes overlook neighbouring Vevey. Down at the quayside wooden chalets house stalls of the annual Christmas market.
Summer activities include boat trips, hiking and the Montreux-Oberland-Bernois narrow gauge railway whose trains allow you to really savour the views…and a nice cup of coffee.
The train station also connects to Geneva, site of the nearest airport, and Booking.com offers luxury hotels, apartments with views and cheap B&Bs nearby.

It's a wonderful small town on the bord of Geneva lake where you can find peace, quiet, meditate and reflect as you wish to find your inner self. It's different from other swiss cities and once you were here might understand why Freddie loved it so much.

Montreux is a wonderful region that one can spend 3-4 days in easily. The lake side views are phenomenal. One can choose from multiple options such as visit vineyards around Vevey, take a train ride from Vevey to Laussane (regional one not the fast trains), explore Chillon castle, do a trip on golden express or glacier express, take a trip to Roches de Nayers and just relax and enjoy scenic beauty of the region. Highly recommended

Montreux is a wonderful location to spend your holiday.
Montreux is a wonderful location to spend your holiday. It has many restaurants to dine at. The view of the lake is stunning. There is plenty of public transport, and with free passes you can travel all around the town. And also there are a couple of free train journeys for you to travel up the mountain side. And should you feel lucky, you can try your luck at the Casino which is just across the road from the Hotel.

Two night/three days in Montreux barely scratched the surface of all the things to see and do. The charm, the location, culture and sheer beauty, especially along the lakefront captured my heart. May it capture yours, too!

Great for using as a base for travelling. Good boat trips on the lake and recommended for the Christmas Market. Riviera card saved some money when travelling with free bus travel between Vevey and Villeneuve along the lakeside.

Wonderful place.
Wonderful place. The city is confined in a narrow region between the lake and steep mountain, but still well organized without mess. There are several parking buildings which was ok during the jazz fest in September. So many wonderful places to visit if you take mountain trains from Montreux.
We loved the hotel, its position and charm. The garden was beautiful and the interior was classy with relaxing music, fresh flowers and a quiet elegance. The room was well equipped with a wonderful view. Check in/ check out was smooth and we had a warm welcome. We thought the continental breakfast was good quality with reasonable choice and a good ambience. The small town and lakeside setting is stunning. There are easy access routes to Montreux, including regular buses and the promenade walk is wonderful.
The balcony and lake view. The clean comfortable room and bathroom. The comfortable bed. The iron and ironing board.
The reception area, terrace and breakfast room. Location was great- it was a short walk into the centre of Montreux but this meant that it was quiet which suited us well. We were a bit worried about the parking but were able to get parking permits at reception for 10CHF per day and found a parking spot on the street just outside the hotel. We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel.
Literally one of our best experiences in Switzerland... Location is super close to all attraction, coupe of minutes from train station, bus station is 2 mins away. The room and the view from our room was even better than the pics. Staff and specially the lady at reception she received us Maeva was so amazing and super friendly and helpful.
They have the best Italian restaurant in town and almost one of our best dining experiences in Switzerland
Fabulous hotel. A real resort with every possible attention paid to the smallest details. We were in time for the last two days of the Montreux Jazz festival which was a real treat.
They have two pools, a great gymn and a fabulous spa.
The staff is exceptional. And my hats off to the team at the concierge desk. They took care of all our wishes effortlessly.
The location of the hotel could not be better, right at the foot of Montreux train station. Also, walking distance to the Lake Geneva and Christmas Market. Hotel is a grand old hotel kept in great condition. Spacious room and balcony with fantastic view of the lake and mountain. Had a bathtub. Will definitely book again if visiting.
We got a free upgrade to a junior sweet as it was free, and it was fantastic! Beautiful balcony and a very classic and overall well maintained hotel. The reception staff were lovely and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was good and well priced (for Switzerland and Montreux). The pool and wellness facilities are a highlight.
A wonderful property in a beautiful location. Close to the center of Montreux and train station accessible by bus in a few minutes. Bus stop right outside the hotel. Staff are extremely professional and helpful at reception and at breakfast! Very spacious well equipped apartments, perfect for families!
The hotel is right on the lake, just off the beautiful lakeside promenade, with wonderful sunny terrace, an outdoor pool whith private space for sunbathing. The hotel is within the walking distance from the Montreux train station, which has connections to the mountain sites with breath taking views.
The staff was extremely friendly and responsive to our requests. We've stayed in the hotel many times over the last few years, and the staff has definitely improved. The hotel's location is perfect-right on the lake, but away from the main busy road, and the rail line.
A front desk representatives are very professional. The location is excellent (near train station). Every room has a breathtaking view of the lake and mountains. Our room was small but enough space to have a good rest after days full of activities. We love Montreux!
hotel splendid is in the most exceptional location one the lakefront and has stupendous views. I was here for montreux Noel and it was directly outside the most vibrant section. staff were so friendly and helpful and a divine breakfast. I will stay here again
This hotel was amazing, setting ans views out of this world. Our room had a balcony and it looked out onto the lake. Had a swim in the lake. Walked into montreux by the lake. Room was very spacious. Food was really good. Breakfast first class.
I was happily surprised to arrive and see we were on the lake, up high with a balcony and lovely view, and steps away from the Christmas Market. This was my favorite hotel during our winter trip.
The best 4 star hotel I had in Switzerland. It is very quiet, has the perfect view towards the lake. The foto was take from the balcony of my hotel room. I can only recommend.
Fabulous location just a few steps from the Montreux train station. Hotel is on the top of a cliff overlooking the city and the lake below providing postage-card views.
the hotel should be 4 star hotel, the location, the staff, the service, etc. is way above 3 star hotel. the room is spacious and very clean and comfortable.
